 Smile

I grew up RM/COC/GA.
(that's Restoration Movement/Church of Christ/Gospel Advocate).

in the last few years I have been around a number of RM/ICC groups:
1. a group in NC on a work trip.
2. a group in MS with my oldest son.
3. a group in AL with my daughter.
4. another group in AL looking for a minister.

I find them to be far more gracious and tolerant than some I have known in my earlier years.
of course, this is an over-simplification, and a generalization.

but, are there many RM/ICC'ers here?!

in the past I have frequented one of "their" webforums;
but there were a couple of watchdogs there that made life miserable.
anyone who dared to differ with them was hounded out.
I do not see that at all here at GCCF.

and, it was a puzzlement to me to find it there, knowing the ICC folks I've met?

Apparently we ICC people don't have much to talk about . . .

 Confused

maybe they are asleep? hiding? pondering?

maybe they just have nothing to say?!

I have found most ICC'ers to be well worthy of being heard.

most of the ones I have met have been quiet, thoughtful souls.

so, they are just quietly thinking, not talking!

two ears, one mouth.

By ICC do you mean Independent Christian Churches/ CoC, aka, instrumental Churches of Christ? The terminology gets confusing. How do people in the ICC refer to themselves? When a stranger says "What denomination do you belong to?" how do you answer? Do you consider everyone who is a member of an Independent Christian Church or instrumental Church of Christ to be in fellowship with you?

Just trying to figure out my RM kin.

In my experience we don't usually use that terminology. I consider anyone who belongs to Jesus to be my brother/sister.

Good luck with that! We're tough to figure out.

I don't think I will ever figure out all the strange variations found in the anti-IM CoC: one cuppers, one loafers, no SS, no SS w/1 cup, no SS w/multi cups, anti, clappers, no eaters. I hope the ICC doesn't have such splintering and understands the difference between faithfully following the word and being nitpicky.

Heh, anti-clappers.  The ICC I grew up in was anti-clap by tradition but would not have ostracized anyone for clapping.

The current ICC I am in has clappers strewn throughout and the Minister encourages it.  Feels a bit strange when only a few are involved.  If they are feeling the Spirit, more power to them.
