Is it ok for churches to be 501(c)3 incorporated?

HRoberson

Yes.

Although, there are some drawbacks to being incorporated.

I sincerely hope you will read "Thirty ways that the IRS tries to control pastors and churches" by Greg Dixon, website http://www.freedomsphoenix.com/Editorial-Page.htm?InfoNo=025869
If you think there is some erroneous info there, I'd like to hear about it.

Why would any true church of God, copy the world's customs and practices ?

You mean, like meeting in buildings, using indoor plumbing, wearing modern clothes?

While we, the Church, are called upon to not conform to the World, we are called upon to live in the World. As God's people, we are His representatives of His Kingdom of Heaven. As when the United States establishes an embassy in a foreign country, the U.S. authorities must respect the customs and laws of that country according to whatever agreements they have set forth. Similarly, as the various congregations of Christ's Church abide in the World, some arrangements must be agreed to and adhered.

By local churches establishing themselves within the laws and customs of the locality they live they do not automatically relent their Heavenly citizenship. When these churches recognize themself as a small part of the Kingdom of God, and maintain their allegiance to the same, they can be effective witnesses in the power of the Holy Spirit.

Our church is incorportated and it really makes no difference... We've never used it in any way...
