Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. On that day many will say to me, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?' And then will I declare to them, 'I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.'

Do you post this because after reading this passage, you fear you might be a fake Christian?

JMT,

Fake Christian  ???

Is a fake Christian like fake money, or counterfeit money? But wait; counterfeit money is not money at all. So I guess a fake Christian is not really a Christian at all, are they?

Just a thought.

It is a biblical fact that there are true and false christians.
Jesus warned against false christs who would deceive ' many ' Mat.24v5.
So it stands to reason that the majority of 'christians' are deceived - in fact the whole world is deceived Rev.12v9 including all religions.

Does that mean God is losing the battle ? Of course not, His Will stands !
What happens is He (God) calls people out of this world to do His Will, who are humble and willing to obey Him.
Many are called - but few are chosen - why ?
Because only few respond to do His Will, obey His Commandments without making them fit their own understanding.

Two different things altogether, In Luke 4:46-49 Jesus is not referring to sinners as some would presume but rather Jesus is referring to those whose motives are not in accordance with the Will of The Father that being Love, Love of God and Love of fellow man.

In other words whatever we do in Jesus name, even posting in this forum, even this very thread if the motive for posting is not Love, Neither the Father, the Son nor the Holy Spirit will recognize it. In other words Jesus is not concerned with the end as much as He is concerned with the means to the end,

God is not interested in bringing His Plans and Purposes into fruition by any means necessary, if He were Satan would've been tossed and destroyed way back when.
God is a Just God, a Righteous God and whatever God wants done He wants done justly and righteously in Love.

This is why Faith works by Love, not our Love but God's Love working in us and through us, knowing His Love for us is Perfect and Flawless and Unyielding and Unflinching we have confident assurance that He will Perfect what He has purposed.

In Short God has a motive, His motive is Love.....When one read's John 3:16 in this light, one understands God motive in that GOD SENT HIS SON FOR A REASON.....The reason is

GOD SO LOVED THE WORLD!

In other words God's Motive for sending Jesus was Love!!!!

In Luke 4 Jesus is simply saying it does not matter if you laid hands and healed the sick if you did not do it in Love

It doesn't matter if you prophesy and speak thus says The Word of the Lord or if you cast out demons, none of that matters if Love was not the motive...that's what Jesus is saying

Funny thing about it is this....

It's funny how on one hand people will cite this verse to point out how everyone that says they are a Christian is not really Christian

But on the other hand the same people will deny to their dying breath that Christians CAN prophesy in Jesus name, and cast out demons in Jesus name, and do many mighty works in His name

See my point?

If this scripture applies to everyone then by the same token casting out demons, prophesying and doing might works in His Name applies to everyone too

Those are my thoughts ::tippinghat::

wheat among tares

Discuss tares.

it's actually tares (weeds) among the wheat, not wheat among the tares. lol

Jesus told them another parable: "The kingdom of heaven is like a man who sowed good seed in his field.  But while everyone was sleeping, his enemy came and sowed weeds among the wheat, and went away.  When the wheat sprouted and formed heads, then the weeds also appeared.
"The owner's servants came to him and said, 'Sir, didn't you sow good seed in your field? Where then did the weeds come from?'

"'An enemy did this,' he replied.
"The servants asked him, 'Do you want us to go and pull them up?'

"'No,' he answered, 'because while you are pulling the weeds, you may uproot the wheat with them.  Let both grow together until the harvest. At that time I will tell the harvesters: First collect the weeds and tie them in bundles to be burned; then gather the wheat and bring it into my barn.'

That's great, fish!  ::clappingoverhead::

Now, as Ana initiated this thread while experiencing a pique of some kind, I would love for her to discuss tares.

Because there are too many tares compared to few wheats?...if so then I would see your point...

You have got it in one !

The whole world is deceived Rev.12v9
but God's flock is little Lk.12v32

I would agree...and suspect that that was the point of the OP: to show everyone that they are not really Christians.  ::frown:: I have never seen so many so bent on convicing others that their walk with Christ isn't good enough...all while exalting their own (the comparison of wheat to tares...as IF) ::eek::  Its like an epidemic lately.

Jesus words doesn't JUST apply to christians. it applies to any who believe there's a God. this includes leaders of any religious group.  these people aren't sent by Jehovah God, and follow ALL of Jesus teachings,(that of which one can follow). instead they're sent by satan, though you couldn't tell them or those who believe in them that!,(2Cor.-11:13-15, For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works). peace[/color]
