My friend is a very passionate christian, and has been teaching me for the past 2 years. But I was just not getting it.I was reading it,but I was'nt understanding it and not feeling it. I went for a visit in April and a situation happened where my significant other broke off our relationship. She told me that that was gods plan and maybe he had something better in mind. I prayed to god to give me strength, peace, and guidence. A few days later before I left this visit with her she put her arms around me and comforted me,and I felt the most intense uncontrolable feeling that almost took my breath away and almost brought me to my knees. Since then I have been drawn closer to god, joined a church,a bible study, and I am getting decernments, and revolations from God. This confuses me because is it possible to be anointed with the holy spirit through another human being.?

Hi critter,

Although I would not discount it, anything is possible in our Lord, I am not sure I would connect that exact moment with the Holy Spirit's arrival.  I believe He comes when we sincerely open our hearts to him regardless of the specific circumstances.  Is it possible that during that emotional moment you finally let your guard down completely?

Is it possible that during those earlier moments in prayer you allowed Him entrance, and He resided in you, but during that embrace He felt your intimate need for support and moved to the front of your mind in force?

There are undulations in my faith, and in the tangible presence of God the Holy Spirit.  There are times when I do not feel his presence, and others where He actually manifests himself in such a way not to be ignored.

I do not have the authority to provide an answer to your question, but I don't feel it is really relevant, I cannot put my finger on when I first felt Him.  I can say I felt something when I first asked Jesus into my heart, but it was later when I had my most powerful encounters with the Spirit inside me.  Many of those encounters took place in a warm embrace, He is love, compassion, empathy, unselfish regard for another.

Rejoice that you received Him, rejoice that you answered His call and He yours.

It is early in the morning of your Faith, these will be some of the most vivid encounters with God.  I consider it similar to a marriage; in the beginning love is more passionate and at the forefront, as time passes love may be less intoxicating yet it grows stronger in other respects.  There will always be times of exhilarating passion, but they are subordinate to one's deeper love, the love that compels us to please and serve.

Sorry I couldn't answer your question, I don't know if this helped at all, but I enjoyed sharing my perspective with you. ::smile::

God bless,
Carey.

If by your question you mean can you receive an infusion of the Holy Spirit by the laying on of hands, then the answer according to Scripture is yes.  In many instances people received the indwelling Holy Spirit after having the disciples lay their hands on them and pray that they would receive the Holy Spirit.  This is still a common practice today (at least in my church).  When a new believer makes the commitment to accept Jesus into their lives as their Lord and Saviour, it is a common practice for more mature believers in the congregation to join them at the alter and place their hands on their shoulders/arms around their shoulders and pray with the new believer, and pray for the new believer that God will pour out the Holy Spirit upon them.  There are several examples of this in Scripture.

Hope this helps.........now, understand that those who pray for the new believer do not have the power to dispense the Holy Spirit, in my opinion, only God has that power, but they can pray and ASK God to fill the believer with the Holy Spirit.

God bless

We can receive Holy Spirit and His impartation through another.

Acts 8:14-17
When the apostles in Jerusalem heard that the people of Samaria had accepted God's message, they sent Peter and John there. 15 As soon as they arrived, they prayed for these new believers to receive the Holy Spirit. 16 The Holy Spirit had not yet come upon any of them, for they had only been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. 17 Then Peter and John laid their hands upon these believers, and they received the Holy Spirit.

1 Timothy 4:14
Do not neglect the spiritual gift you received through the prophecy spoken over you when the elders of the church laid their hands on you.

2 Timothy 1:6
This is why I remind you to fan into flames the spiritual gift God gave you when I laid my hands on you.

I underlined what you said here as it was at that time that you prayed that the Holy Spirit was made manifest in you as even though you already had the indwelling you probably never allowed the manifestation to take action in your life. Just allow the Holy Spirit teach you, comfort you and guide you into all that God has for you.

Only God can give to you His Spirit, you may feel the love of God through another but only God can give to you His being in you.  This is something you receive from God, not from another human.  Even Jesus couldn't give it to his desciples, he could only be a witness of it. It only comes from God Himself.

So then what you are saying is God picks and chooses who will be saved?

Na' His desire is all be saved. He is not respecter of persons, He has no personal preferences. And He does give His Spirit to all who will recieve Him. Even Jesus recieved Him in Matt 3:16. It is a choice we all make, God already has told us His desire for us. And that is to be one with Him, He in you and you in Him, like Him.
