Ava - that's interesting.  A lot of my family comes from the area around Ava and Douglas county.  Maybe I ought to apply.  I could get back to my roots.

Since this is a message board that encourages posts of this nature: the congregation where our family is attending is looking for a new preacher (one of our elders - Joe Corum - has been doing the preaching for a couple of years and has done quite well - Harding grad; he and his brother own the local radio station but...). Congregation has about 120 members on the books; attendance runs about 70-80; significant older membership, but a lot of school-age young people. Parsonage next door in pretty good shape.

Ava has about 3,000 folks in a county (Douglas) of approximately 12,000 - is about a hour east of Springfield, MO.

Address: Ava Church of Christ, PO BOX 637, Ava, MO 65608-0637

Elders, and points of contact:
Joe Corum  (417) 683-4810, [a href=\"mailto:jcorum@getgoin.net\"]jcorum@getgoin.net[/a]
Robert Jenkins (417) 683-4341, [a href=\"mailto:rjjenkin@fidnet.com\"]rjjenkin@fidnet.com[/a]
Paul Wade (417) 683-9758, [a href=\"mailto:wadecpa@yahoo.com\"]wadecpa@yahoo.com[/a] (leading search committee)

Please ensure widest distribution; thanks.

Bob,

Central Christian College of the Bible is about 240-250 miles away in Moberly.  It appears a small school, but have you met any students, current or former?  My oldest daughter was looking at it.  Seems unlikely she will actually end up there, but have you heard anything about it?

Central Christian College in Moberly is an excellent school.  Instrumental in outlook (as opposed to non-instr.)  Lots of good teachers.  Faithful to the Bible.

And one really unique quality -- they don't charge for tuition.  They've built a system where tuition for all students is paid for through private donations.  Students must pay room and board, but no tuition.

Look closely at Central.

Our current youth minister graduated from Central not long ago.  If anyone is interested I can put you in contact with him.

The Ava congregation is still looking; feel free to contact any of the above folks if you know of anyone interested.

Bob,

My family roots go through the little town of Ava, Missouri!  I never thought I would actually know anyone from there.  I think it is the "S." side of my family that was from Ava.
