My church is starting to promote it.  One of the local theaters is planning on showing it for 2 days.

I just saw a preview for it, and as much as I liked "Facing the Giant's" I plan on seeing the movie.

I just got a chance to see this movie. Today is opening day, and all four showings of this movie were sold out by the time I got to the theater for the earliest showing at 1:10. This movie is only opening in 839 theaters this weekend, but it will have to expend significantly next weekend if these showings continue to sellout like this all weekend. This movie could end up being in the Top 3 for box office dollars this weekend. That would be amazing, but honestly, Kirk Cameron's performance was much better than I thought he was capable of. I'd love to hear what you all have to say about this movie after you see it!

I'm taking my hubby tommorrow for his birthday.  (I also bought him $48 worth of Jethro Tull music.)
Our church pre-ordered a bunch of tickets a couple of weeks in advance, so we already have ours.

How was the movie? I am considering going to see it with my wife. She liked "Facing the Giants," but I thought it was awful, so I hope this movie will be better.

I think it was better than facing the giants.
The acting/conversation seems a little forced (unnatural) at times, but I do think it's worth seeing.  There are parts of it that seem a little "cheesy".  There is some good humor too.  Take your wife.

Here's what Plugged-In Online has to say about the movie:

Quote
You might notice that some of the lines in Fireproof feel a little wooden. And you might notice that the script indulges more dialogue (most of it spiritual) than you're used to hearing in movies about firemen. But the honest truth is that you don't really care by the time the credits roll, because you're too busy feeling your own feelings and thinking your own thoughts about your own relationships. This is the kind of movie that succeeds, sometimes despite itself, because it does a superlative job of digging into serious issues that so deeply affect so many of us every day.

It is a low budget film.  Much of the acting is terrible.  At times it seems too "religious"  But the message is good.

By the way, I heard that Kirk Cameron has very strict guidelines about what he won't do as an actor.  He never actually kisses the actress playing his wife in the movie.  Apparently his own wife is the double in the scenes that show them kissing.

This movie has great acting.   Facing the Giants was a better story than a "movie"  This is a great movie with a great story!   Hope more of these are coming.

I see that others did not like the acting.   I thought they sounded a lot like the people I know.  Not professional actors - I don't know a one.  But like people dealing with real issues. In fact, I could almost picture people I know in the scenes because the lines were familiar.

Zoo, There were parts where the acting was good.  There were parts that it sounded like they were reading a script.  It just seemed flat.  I thought the parts with the neighbor was hilarious. :)  as was the line about "brothers from different mothers"

True.  Scripts were clearly involved.  (I have seen worse! *Ad libbing can be excellent but too often fall flat.)    I liked the interactions of the fire fighters too.    Tomato juice!!!

My wife and I saw it last night and I thought it was great. Kirk Cameron did an outstanding job. I cried several times.
