The Passion is a movie I think hits bottom . Way too violent , written by Roman Catholics , seems they enjoy bloodshed.  Wow! why would someone want to see it???

I have to ask... Do you think Jesus death was a non violent occasion?

I think the Passion got it mostly right (I have some minor issues...) , most of the movies about Jesus water down Calvary. From the moment the movie opened with his prayer in the garden to the bloodiness of the cross I think Gibson captured quite well the mood and physicality of the occasion.

Roman Crucifixions were not pretty scenes, to paint it other wise does not do Jesus death any justice...

my humble 2 cents

For me it was the movie Colors.  I walked out of it five minutes into the movie.  It was really bad.

Since the first part of this thread has disappeared, I'll re-post my votes for Punch Drunk Love and AI as two of the absolute worst.

I have to agree about AI.   I did, however, enjoy the robot-smashing scene.   It was sort of like watching Battlebots.

When I attended,  the entire audience was in stitches during that part of the movie.  Of course, our culture here is a little bit different.

I know lots of people on this board liked \"Napoleon Dynamite\", but I sure didn't.  Worst movie I've seen all year.

I think I've blocked out most of that movie from my memory -- I really don't even remember that part.

The only part that I can't forget is when the little boy is sitting at the bottom of the ocean talking to the blue fairy. Don't worry though, he gets rescued by aliens later.

The Avengers with Uma Thurman and Sean Connery.  It was pretty bad if I remember right.

I watched so few movies made in the last 15 years that I really haven't seen any turkeys (I've not seen a single movie listed on the thread so far). I really only saw the Star Wars, Star Trek, and Lord of the Rings movies, and a few others (like Finding Nemo, the Stargate movie that kicked off the series, Pirates of the Caribbean). For the most part, they were really good movies.

Probably the worst of the bunch was Star Trek: Generations - it was so-so, but not really bad. The worst of the others had lackluster plots, scripts / dialog, or acting, but were not really bottom-of-the-barrel when compared with the \"competition\".

But if you let me slide back into the period 1965-1989, I could list off a few flops.

In my experience with classic movies, the period that spawned what evolved into what I would call the \"modern dud\" was about 1965-1970, when modern art began to influence the commercial movie industry.

If you take the time to watch several movies from before 1965, they will really grow on you. And you may find when coming back to newer movies that they seem less good than you remember -- and that the excessive language, violence, and adult situations in modern movies are usually gratuitous.
