Social media is abuzz with talk about Pope Francis. Quite a few people are claiming he'll be the last pope - according to some prophecies.

What about this supposed prophecy?
Does Rome still have as much power as it had in the past? Does the Vatican answer to someone else?
Is Francis the last pope?

All I know is, my Catholic friends haven't been very happy with Pope Francis at all.

There's also the incident of Pope Francis slapping a woman twice for grabbing his hand. WWJD? Would the Lord slap a woman around for touching/grabbing Him? (Not equating the two) Remember when the woman with an issue of blood came up behind Jesus and, in faith, touched the hem of His garment? She looked to also be reaching out in faith because of a need. Did Jesus turn around and rebuke the woman who touched Him? Did Jesus slap her? Peter said, "Master, the crowds surround you and are pressing in on you!” That implies that others were also touching Jesus, but one woman, the woman with the issue of blood, reached out in faith for help. The woman who grabbed the pope's hand looked to be reaching out to him in faith, but the pope was visibly angered and started slapping her. Why didn't he see to that woman's needs instead of slapping her twice?
I get he's an older man, but if you watch the entire video of the incident, other people in the crowd were grabbing his hand, but he didn't slap them.

Just interesting that he reacted with such anger that he felt the need to hit her twice instead of seeing to her needs.
Also, by default, his actions ok the idea of slapping women who touch you.

Well that's a dishonest post.

The title asks "Is Pope Francis the last pope?" but the substance is just crude Pope Francis bashing.

You folks are way too sensitive! He slapped the poor deceived woman because of the fact that he almost fell and was angry. He lost his hidden piety and only showed what was truly in his heart, that they keep hidden from men, yet God sees his inward thoughts toward his fellowmen and exposed him if any are willing to see it for what it is worth. I would lose my balance just to escape from seeing such wicked self-righteous people and would be running toward a poor, dirty sinner, laying in the ditch to lend him a helping hand! I would rather touch a dirty poor contrite sinner than any religious self-righteous Pharisees who do their works to be seen of men and who love to be called Father, Father, etc. The biggest dishonest religious people lived in Rome and all roads that lead from and thereto.

I tried to include everything in the title that I wanted to include in my post, but there wasn't room. Maybe I'll try to update my title to make you happier.

Ill give my opinion on if he is the last Pope after I comment about what you call crude pope bashing.

In defense of the man... I saw him do nothing wrong in slapping that womans hand. She grabbed his and she would not let go.
The people around him who should have been protecting him weren't.

As to other pope bashing.... Pope Frankie asjks for it.

Anyone who would make the statement that "Having a personal relationship with Jesus is dangerous"... and further pushes "the church"

"Pope Francis described as "dangerous" the temptation to believe that one can have "a personal, direct, immediate relationship with Jesus Christ without communion with and the mediation of the church."

https://www.ncronline.org/blogs/francis-chronicles/church-essential-faith-there-are-no-free-agents-pope-says

Is not anyone who deserves my respect. He is simply a man voicing his opinion in opposition to my opinion.

Now, will he be the last one????

We shall wait and see.

I used to watch a weekly program on end time events and it was explained that there are portraits of each Pope o the wall... somewhere in the Vatican... I have forgotten where... this is a while ago.

There was space for a set number of them on this wall.

When Pope Benedict the XVI was elected, the comments were... there will be only one more pope after him.

BTW, I dearly loved Pope Benedict and respected him greatly

So now enters Pope Frankie.

HIs portrait fill that space.

Will he be the last.

I certainly pray so, but not for the reason you might think but because I am waiting for Jesus to return and pray that will happen before a new one is needed.

Why didn't you just call it "Misogynist Pope attacks helpless woman" because that's all you wanted to talk about.

Social media is abuzz with talk about Pope Francis. Quite a few people are claiming he'll be the last pope - according to some prophecies.
The Prophecy of the Popes (Latin: Prophetia Sancti Malachiae Archiepiscopi, de Summis Pontificibus) is a series of 112 short, cryptic phrases in Latin which purport to predict the Roman Catholic popes (along with a few antipopes), beginning with Pope Celestine II. It was first published by Benedictine monk Arnold Wion in 1595. Wion attributes the prophecy to Saint Malachy, a 12th-century Archbishop of Armagh, Ireland.

Given the very accurate description of popes up to around 1590 and lack of accuracy for the popes that follow, historians generally conclude that the alleged prophecy is a fabrication written shortly before publication. The Catholic Church has no official stance, though some Catholic theologians have dismissed it as forgery.
The prophecy concludes with a pope identified as "Peter the Roman", whose pontificate will allegedly precede the destruction of the city of Rome.
