Too late.

I've had it and it's gone, and now I have streph or something.  I love teaching middle school and having no immune system.

I dont' think you can get it again.  I wasn't hospitalized;  The immune system thing just meant I'm diabetic.  Tipping hat About a fourth of my students have been out with flu in the last week.

Well the Swine Flu outbreak in 1918 killed 20 million people worldwide so there is legitimate cause for concern although there wasn't nearly as sophisticated medical knowledge at the time.

Nope it was Swine flu, a really bad variant of H1N1. Also it looks like the death toll was more like 40-50 million. Over 600k deaths in the United States in a two year period. Wow!

Actually it was avian flu.  Granted our current H1N1 is thought to be a "descendant" of sorts, but that is only speculation at this time.

No the 1918 flu pandemic was swine flu. Here is the Center for Disease Control medical summary of the 1918 flu pandemic. In it they say that, "All influenza A pandemics since that time, and indeed almost all cases of influenza A worldwide (excepting human infections from avian viruses such as H5N1 and H7N7), have been caused by descendants of the 1918 virus, including "drifted" H1N1 viruses..." In other words all of the current influenza A viruses that are floating around (EXCEPT for avian flu) are related to the 1918 flu, including the current H1N1. So its pretty much the exact opposite of what you're saying.

You need to do some research beyond google.

The 1918 "Spanish Flu" epidemic was the H5N1 virus...aka Bird flu.

What the CDC website said is that H1N1 is a decendent of that virus...which is exactly what I said in my post.  Though if you do further research you will find differing views and thus I added that it was only speculation.
