Then clear all of our concerns up!  That should be pretty easy to do.

I have just shown that the concerns you listed earlier were not based upon fact (at least, not the facts you gave). As you have not given any follow-up facts, I assume your concern is based upon some sort of intuition. Something akin to a knee-jerk reaction, likely due to your political sensibilities. As political sensibilities are largely based upon intuition themselves, you are essentially asking me to argue with a mental flourish that you experience. As I have a different mental flourish on this matter, and as we have apparently moved past discussing the facts, I am not capable of clearing up your concerns.

Please cite sources.  The muslim world has been alienated long before Bush was even known to exist on this planet.   You can't really believe we were all best friends up until GWB?

Bush wasn't even mentioned.  In fact, 200+ year US history wasn't mentioned.  Words are just words.  Time will tell.     Feeling good has its place, but eventually results matter.  Only time can separate hopes with reality.  I do hope the future is brighter than the past. Who doesn't want that?

What?     Modified:  Apparently nobel prize awards are based on intuition from mental flourish.  You haven't offered reasons that the NBP committee would determine that Obama clearly floats to the top of candidates.   If you are needing a direct statement that I don't know all the facts - You are correct.  Now it is your turn, give us the reasons why Barak Obama stands out from the other candidates.

I think the graphs tell of Bush's effect on foreign policy. I was quite divisive on a number of matters, unfortunately. He certainly wasn't very popular internationally.

But yes. I think we can both agree and celebrate in a hope for a brighter future, whether that is initiated by a Republican, or Democrat, or Palestinian, or Native Australian.

I don't pretend to know why he was selected. It surprised me. To be honest, I don't really know any of the persons he was 'running' against. It's a very secretive process.

I simply celebrate that an American won, and what it implies about the atmosphere of the world.

IF I AM NOT MISTAKEN!  Mother Teresa won it in 1979 and that winch didn't do anything for humanity or world peace either, at least not as much as BO has.

That's asinine.  All non-muslims are alienated from muslims because we aren't muslims.  Farouk explained it well.

To repeat myself, America has been alienated from the Muslim world by Bush. Obama has taken steps to repair that relationship.

Ok, cber, that's garbage.  Muslims attack this country 6 times under Clinton.  They hated us long before Bush was even elected.

As I corrected someone earlier, it is the gravest of mistakes to associate the extremist terrorists with the Muslim world.

Unless you'd like to take personal responsibility for the Crusades, that is.

You've obviously never been to mosque before.

You actually believe that every, or the vast majority of, Muslims are anti-America?

cberman, I've been to the middle east.  I've been to muslim countries in asia.  On a whole they do not like the U.S.  And it was not Bush that turned them against us.  It was our long time support for Isreal.  That is their biggest gripe against us.

Understood, but, statistically speaking, Bush did not help matters. It's touchy. It needs to be improved. Obama is making steps in that direction. There's still a long way to go.

Every time I see BO on TV, I still stare in total disbelief. He reminds me of some of the guys I went to college with, well trained to shout uninformed opinions (like his empty claim about the new bill not affecting the deficit) because they're in the think-tank.

But then, similarly, that's probably why BO is so good at sounding like he knows what he's talking about so far: he's been immersed in that world so much that he probably believes it's real.

And yes Muslims are fundamentally convert-or-die. In a manner of speaking so is Christianity, and I can't believe I should ever hear from a Christian about the capacity for "peace on Earth" without agreement about who God is.

I am in need of being reminded of things that God has already taught me.

Trust me--I'm not like most people. 90% of the time, I'm straight-faced and it really isn't personal.
