That whole thing is so bizarre to me. I didn't understand how Biblical peoples could do it, and I don't understand how Mormons do it.

Interesting that the teens were in support of it. The article said there were 250 at the rally. I wonder how many more are out there, "under the radar," as the article put it.

I didn't understand how Biblical peoples could do it...

Cause it's in the Bible, for one.  We've got many examples in the OT, and nothing in the NT prohibits polygamy.

I would argue that we've got wide-spread polygamy in this country right now.  It is called divorce and remarriage.  Marry, bear children, divorce, remarry, bear more children, divorce, ad infinitum, ad nauseum...

When I mentioned that to my g-father-in-law a few months ago, he nearly spit his coffee all over the living room.  (We were talking about silence in scripture, of course, and missions in Africa.)

Interesting way to look at it, and of course, this is dealt with in Scripture.

That would be serial polygamy, as opposed to the Mormon and others parallel polygamy.

I meant that I didn't understand how they did it - not that it wasn't prohibited. I know that - it just has always seemed like a recipe for misery to me.

Look at Solomon. Look at Abraham w/Sarah & Hagar. Look at Jacob w/Rachel & Leah. None of those situations were exactly peaceful, kwim?

What does farm equipment have to do with this?

King Solomon had 700 combines.
He was rich, you know.

Women living together tend to synchronize.  So, once a month, Solomon may have had to deal with some large percentage of 300 wives and 700 concubines all with PMS.

It's against the law to be married to more than one person at the same time, however, it is lawful to have ongoing sexual relationships with as many people as you want, at the same time, as long as you are not married to them... Land of the "free", home of the depraved.

Thanks for the heads-up, bog.  He's got a big commune and a temple being built in Eldorado, TX, too.

Yeah,  I know.   They're really worried about that out there because it wouldn't take very many people for them to be able to elect all the county officials.

I thought it used to be illegal in some states.
