Can you believe this?

Quote
Pastor David Jones and his wife Mary have been told that they cannot invite friends to their San Diego, Calif. home for a bible study — unless they are willing to pay tens of thousands of dollars to San Diego County.

The rest of the story.

Is this an old story?  I remember reading something identical a while ago.

It was dated today.

I don't know, what do you think?

I'm assuming what I remember was something similar.  The house church movement has run into some zoning problems, and what I'm thinking of may be related to that.

All the odder, since San Diego is supposed to be solid GOP country over there.

According to one of the stories I read while trying to figure out where I had heard this before, a local Republican Barney Fife started all the trouble, fwiw.

More often than not, you can usually trace a problem such as this to a disgruntled neighbor who got blocked in or out of his driveway when someone attending the Bible study got careless about his parking.  It is something that we all need to be very careful of.  The last thing that we want to do is to offend someone in the neighborhood by being inconsiderate.

This has happened a few times, but rarely makes the news.

I've been debating this with some military wives all day...   Evidently, this "guest" of the Bible study host, hit a parked car.. and the person they hit was a guest of a neighbor... who then called in the city/county officials.

I do not really understand why... since if someone hits your car, you call your insurance company and file a claim against their insurance.  If they are not disputing that they hit your car, no police needed.  The persons involved were both guests of the "caldesac" home owners ... so it appears it was persecution.  It's really none of my guests business what my neighbors are doing.

I would be upset if my guest stirred this much nonsense.  They are neighbors and they all still have to live there after the guests go home.

This is really vindictive to get zoning people involved in a fender bender.

I said it there, and I'll say it here... if they had been hosting a weekly Kegger and invited all the neighbors, no one would have said a word.  But... mention the word "Bible Study" and we are calling the government!

Yeah... and can you believe that when I said that "What I do in the privacy of the home I pay for and take care of is no one's business"...  someone replied to me.. "If you hit my car, it is"...  Say what?   Doh!

So they think that if you hit a car, that complete stranger has a right to demand to know what you do in the privacy of your own home.  Where does that kind of logic come from?   Confused

Lets all just line up and live in Russia.   I don't know, what do you think?

If I get blocked in again by some smart mouth garage sale hopper who gets angry at me because I want to drive to work, I'm calling code enforcement about my neighbor who has more sales than Sears. They've already shot past their garage sale limit for the year.

BTW, that's how code enforcement gets called. You and your guests start interfering with other people's day.
