Data shows that the drug is most effective when given early in the course of infection, Merck said.

Like all therapeutics.

I agree with this reader's comment-

I'm willing to bet this is a remake of one of the existing antivirals that is already on the market and is no longer bringing in the the research and development dollars and profits. Follow the money.
Yep, they probably dusted off some tamiflu and tweaked it - and there we go.

BTW, I see yahoo news has turned back on their reader comment section. They shut it down during the Trump administration where we weren't allowed to dispute their Trump hating, anti American fake news. Now that old Joe is in office, we're allowed to comment again. I honestly hate MSM - the propaganda arm of the Democratic Party and overlords who are dragging our country into the pits of hell.

Ivermectin, or this stuff?  If you are talking Ivermectin, it is a people de-wormer too.

The med in the article is supposed to be a new anti viral - not a de-wormer. OTOH, the Ivermectin is a de-wormer for both animals and humans.

The med in the article is probably a variation on Tamiflu - the prescription anti-viral they give out like candy for the regular flu that isn't very effective. Last time I had the flu, my doctor gave me Tamiflu, and after a day or so of taking it, and reading all the side effects and seeing that it only shortened the flu by about 1/2 day, I tossed it, and survived without it. Risk all those side effects and the only benefit is it "may" reduce the flu by 1/2 day? No thank you.
