People have the right to:

Legal representation free from sabotage due to lawyer pay-offs from hospitals,

When does this happen?

Despite this 'call to arms', most state legislatures have limited patients' and families' rights to be fairly and adequately compensated for medical malpractice.

yea; cheer; clap-clap.  I cannot tell you how whole-heartedly I agree.

Something has to be done about compensating the wounds that victims of medical malpractice endure.  Less than 10 percent of the victims receive any compensation at all.  Yet the medical profession has somehow blamed it all on lawyers.

Very well.  End medical malpractice suits and figure out some other way to compensate victims of lousy doctors.

They pretty much have ended medical malpractice litigation,  at least in Texas.    What with the caps on non-economic damages,  it's generally not possible to get a verdict big enough to pay the costs of preparing the case for trial, from what I've heard.    So the lawyers just aren't taking them anymore.

But I haven't seen my health insurance premiums go down like they promised would happen.
Has anybody else?

By the way,  admin Lee -

Most of the elimination of protections for patients has come on the Republican's lookout.

I'm not in Texas, but no.  My insurance went up 17% in 2005, another 10% in 2006.  I'm not optimististic about 2007, when it will likely surpass the cost of our mortgage and taxes combined.  And we have no pre-exsiting conditions, even.
