I WOULD say the measures taken to prevent or mitigate the deaths of each could and SHOULD be compared.

That makes sense, so long as one does not expect what works for one, works for all.

Flu  and covid are very contagious. Pneumonia can be but not necessarily is.

We have medicines for flu and pneumonia. They are dragging their heels on covid because they need all these trials.

"I know of many that have survived the flu, yet covid killed them."

You find that hard to believe?     ::headscratch::

I personally knew a woman who survived several bouts of flu, multiple other health conditions, plus beat cancer, but died from an infected tooth.  Just because someone finally succumbs to one illness, that doesn't mean that previous illnesses were less serious.

Mommydi, this is one the most profound common sense statements I have read on here in a long time.

Successive illnesses definitely do take a cumulative toll. An opportunistic contagion like Corona WILL finish off what was sometimes begun by other health issues. Same with the flu and why it is so dangerous to the elderly and those with compromised immune systems. Most often our health is a reflection of the cumulative ravages that have pummeled our bodies over a lifetime, some self inflicted.

Hey all you golfers and campers.

IN PA our golf courses and camp grounds are reopening Friday.

The rest of us have to stay home. And inside as much as possible cause I guess the air around our homes has paticles of the stupid virus waiting to attack us? ::whistle::

Tooth infections are far more serious than most folks give them credit for.  Coincidentally, I was talking to my electrician only yesterday, on the subject of teeth, he caught me with my dentures out, hate those things.  A relative of his had a blood workup and the news was not good, death was even discussed, and multiple tests  were undertaken.  After eliminating a number of possibilities, they finally tracked to oral infections.  Once that was addressed, within a month or so her blood tests came back normal.

People need to take good care of their teeth, but many don't,  dental care is not covered in our national health system, probably should be as it can lead to a higher cost on the medical side.  Cosmetic issues OTOH, people can pay for themselves.

Camping and golf should be allowed, both can be done with very little risk.  They are actually telling folks to stay inside where you are? here they are encouraging folks to get out for exercise and mental health, but to do so safely.  Roads in our city are routinely closed to make room for those walking and jogging to maintain distance.

We can go out once a day for exercise such as walking, jogging, cycling etc. Especially important for those who have no garden. Exercise is vital for our health and well being, and dogs need walking and children need to burn off steam and get some vit d.

Not much has changed in the city, although we are encouraged to walk near our homes, our city parks are still open (not playground equipment), and people are still free to drive to one of the natural areas in the city and go for a walk as often as they are inclined to.  My wife and I will go to the nearby park frequently (soccer fields and baseball diamonds)  I fly my airplanes and she plays with the dog, lots of people walking by, but we have the field, about 10 acres of it, to ourselves for the most part.   ::pondering::  maybe it is closed and we just haven't been caught yet,   rofl

Our instructions are stay at home.

Only go out for necessary things like prescriptions and food. Use drive-thrus when possible.

And as of 2 weeks ago mask wearing is an order.

People can walk the dogs and go for walks and the like but always social distancing.

But golf courses and camp grounds have been closed. I have no idea about city parks as I am not in the city. Our walk trail
is still open.

But they are still telling people they really need to stay in their houses. And in parts of the state I have read that people are encouraged to "report" their neighbors if they dont.

This is a very excessively democratic state.

Our pap governor lied.

3 weeks ago he said he would open the north central and north western part of PA...
(Republican stronghold) on May 8.

He then said he was following specific guidelines of so many new cases per 100,000.

South western PA is within those guidelines and even the democratic city news said this AM they were hopefull we would also be allowed to move to the next phase.

Well, he just spoke.

NO. We all remain as is except those he mentioned 3weeks ago.

expletive.

Thanks Rella,

It looks like our first relaxation phase is to begin the middle of May, but they already relaxed a number of restrictions yesterday.  Elective surgeries, physio/chiro, provincial parks (not sure if that includes camping) golf,  can resume immediately.

Things are subject to change, but we are in pretty good shape, my city isn't faring as well as the rest of the province, with about 80% of the cases and deaths, about 5000 and 80 respectively.

Some advancements in treatment and a vaccine are extremely positive, hopefully that will help us keep the death rate low or lower.

Take care sister,
Carey.

Bemark and all

Adding to "speculative" videos is the following.

No need to watch in entirely unless you want to. Just move to about 24 or 25 min for a bit... and then to 37 if you have not had enough.

https://www.yahoo.com/news/she-predicted-coronavirus-does-she-185553863.html

Well, to be honest, about 20 years ago, she predicted a coming pandemic and has been talking about it since that time - but most scientists and wannabe scientists have been predicting a pandemic for decades.  Just wondering why some people think she has some kind of inside track on her prediction.  ::shrug:: The article doesn't explain how she predicted the coronavirus. Guess we'd have to read her book to see how closely she came in her prediction. Did she predict the pandemic would start in China?

I am not going  to read her book because at this point it is hind sight.

I would be more interested if she had predicted animal spreading or man altering genes type thing.

The biggest coverup. Who done it?

Well,  let’s make the bat virus jump to humans. If we can make it jump , before it could do. We then in a lab  we can get a vaccine . So in year 2525 we can still be alive.

So the mad scientists worked through out the night . They made it jump . It jumped out of the lab.

Now everyone is blaming everyone else.

USA blaming China. China says its a USA virus. Paid by Obama . Research into virus study in Wuhan lab.

The Who says nothing really wrong here,  we have helped to produce many vaccines that have cured mankind. Lol then that little man who was behind it all is now number 1 to Donald Trump. At least he knows what he’s talking about. Social distance folks. It’s not the flue

It’s all meant to try and save mankind from what can come. Then they stuff up and the very thing they was trying to avoid came about because they stuffed up.

Who’s going to own that one?

Who’s going to tell the public daddy and mummy opened the door.
