The Standing Rock dilemma
« on: December 01, 2016, 06:29:02 AM »
Sigh...

Will President Obama step in and help try to bring this to a peaceful end? I'm afraid things are escalating and some people will end up losing their lives. It's a mess. There's also all kinds of misinformation from all sides of the issue. We have the oil company, the environmentalists, and the natives - all at a standoff.

I have to agree.

Yesterday, our local talk radio host devoted most of his show to the Standing Rock controversy. He interviewed a native woman who is supporting the protests. Interestingly, the woman was native, but not Sioux or of any tribe from that area. He also interviewed people opposing the protests. By the time it was all said and done, I came to the same conclusions - idiots.
There were all kinds of rumors/statements given by those supporting the protests that were proven wrong.
And although I don't trust CNN one little bit, this article is interesting - saying that a lot of the Sioux natives were ok with the pipeline and the protests are spearheaded by a bunch of out of towners.
