President Donald Trump on Wednesday called the death of George Floyd "very sad and tragic" and said "justice will be served" in the Minnesota man's case.

Floyd, 46, died Monday night after a Minneapolis police officer pinned him by the neck with his knee for more than eight minutes. Video of the incident shows Floyd pleading "Please, please, please, I can't breathe," before he died.

First, of course it is outrageous that this man was killed.

Second-Looks like Antifa is there - stirring the pot.  ::frown::

The violent protesting and looting certainly doesn't accomplish anything, it wouldn't surprise me at all if it was organized to escalate the situation. I do expect there to be charges forthcoming.

Yes, BLM and Antifa are behind most of the escalation.

I have never understood the reasoning behind looting as a form of protest. I had a relative who was breaking parole and had a gun in his vehicle while being chased by the highway patrol. My relative died under very suspicious circumstances. LE says he shot himself, but witnesses at the scene said officers fired into the car. However, in our grief, anger, and disbelief, none of us ran to Target to steal TVs and cell phones.

I... thank God...  do not understand the looting and setting stores on fire.

Especially when there likely were black employees who would be totally out of a job doing that.

I saw one very hefty white woman running with a huge bad from the Target she took things from. On camera,, he size is a dead ID give away.... and I hope they lock her up.

The cops should have been jailed pending the investigation.

POTUS is fast tracking that but they should have been locked up.

I saw that video over and over all last evening. The expeletive cop was kneeling on his throat for about 6 minutes while the one's feet standing to the side could be seen. Just standing.

This was intentional..... The man was handcuffed. Why had they not tossed him into the back of the cop car?

It sickens me.

They shouldn't be jailed immediately.  Their actions are being investigated and they will be charged.

With due process and union rules, these things don't get resolved in a one hour episode.  True justice isn't an episode of Law & Order.

If I understand you correctly, cops are different than regular citizens even if the evidence at the crime scene is sufficient to make charges? Just asking because I'm unsure of how this actually works.

Unions help that.  And the nature of their job.  There is a difference of what would happen in a perfect world and what does happen in reality.

Okay, I get that. Do you think Trump's statement will help push this investigation along faster, or will the FBI pressure the union into allowing it's members to be formally charged?

I think they would have been formally charged anyway.  Just takes time.  If people want true justice, a better case can be made by dotting your i's and crossing your t's prior to arrest.

I think FBI pressure, etc is more about calming the situation and showing concern.  Don't think it would have affected outcome.

What little I truly know, it seems that murder charges should be forthcoming and rightly so. Taking one's knee and pending down a man's neck to concrete is totally uncalled for and no way can be justified.  There are good cops and also too many wannabes Rambo's having high power guns and cars give them a certain high that is dangerous to men and women who may not do that much wrong~I found that these men and women given a little authority often that authority goes to their heads, and makes them think that EVERONE that they come into contact with is to be treated as though they are a threat to them when many are not. These folks, talk a certain way, walk a certain way ( I know that are taught to take control of all situations, yet many overdo it) as though they are the jury and the judge in their cases they are called to handle. I try to hard to show respect, but I must admit that I have gotten a little upset at one or two of them over the years.

Can I give one example to be a little on the light side? Many years ago I was at the lake on the water with my boat with a few friends and got pulled over late in the afternoon by a Barney Fife ~he said who owns this boat, and I said that I did (I was sitting on the back part of the boat with my wife driving) He looked at me and said have you been drinking, to which I said yes, two to three beers~ Barney said to me, say your ABC for me..,(I wanted to ask home WHY, don't you know yours) Well, I said them to f and stop and said there you go. He said say them all the way through, by then I was getting a little upset, but did so as he requested. He looked hard to find something he could charge with me, lifejackets, etc etc. finally he could not so he let us go and made me sit down in a seat and told us to go straight to our campsite, which we did,  As he was driving off I started to say~"hey Barney, you missed something"~ but forbear....My boat inspection had expired and he was actually leaning OVER IT into my boat to find something wrong, but could not.

I don't understand a group of people that says they are for limited government and then hero worships cops.

The police response to a protest with violence, even with rubber bullets escalated the situation.  Then you have protesters looting a Target.

Minneapolis is apparently full of morons.

Minneapolis is a Democrat's paradise - a city owned by and run by Democrats. Look at their city council and other elected politicians - far left Democrats.  IOW, what's going on there now is Democratic family infighting and it's none of our business. They'll get it sorted out amongst themselves without our input.

How ironic that the political party who pushes the hardest for labor unions are the ones who are complaining about the police union moving too slowly for their liking? They've made their bed, though.

There are so many strange things coming out about this. The cop and the deceased man actually knew each other. They had both worked together at the same location as security guards in the past.
Something else was brought up on twitter yesterday that's interesting. NOT that it takes any responsibility off the officer, but someone commented that the deceased man's head was pinned directly under the tail pipe of a running car and that it IS possible to die from asphyxiation - outdoors - while breathing exhaust fumes for that long. You don't have to be in an inclosed space, such as a garage, to die from asphyxiation from carbon monoxide poisoning.

It was close to being under, correct. Was the engine running?

The video I just sent  ( above) verifies  that.

Yes, you can suffocate in a paper bag....

But be it suffocation or cutting off of the carrodid artey with weight pressure.... the man is dead.

AND THERE WERE 3 COPS KNEELING ON HIM.

By all appearances they wanted him dead. If it was merely for torture they could have tazed him badly... even below the belt.

At least his neck was not broken with the knee. He could not struggle with 3 cops on top is the likely reason.

They wanted him dead. They stayed like that for 9 minutes. And neck kneeler kept looking at the camera from the first video... like he was posing.

There is more to this. Something - IDK what, something more. Especially since the main cop and the victim knew each other and had worked together.

This is just so weird. They knew each other. The victim wasn't just some random black guy on the street. This cop knew him.

Not sure if they actually knew each other, Floyd worked inside as a security guard and Chauvin was situated outside. I also read it would have been different shifts that the two worked but no confirmation on that.

You're so right.

Example -
Moms get arrested for taking kids to the park during virus outbreak, but when people loot, riot, and try to burn down a city, gov't and LE stand back and let it burn.

Protesters in Michigan that went home by 11PM were called nazis, white supremacist's, KKKs, etc, while rioters and looters in Minnesota are exercising their rights.  ???

It’s just so wrong. Then you put a black face on it ...pain pain pain. I hate the world where we hate on each other. Race religion sex.   We are so screwed up. Why can’t we just love each other ? Why not. We all breathe the same air. We all love our families and friends. We love our work buddies. That’s right some people get rich

They should arrest people and charge them 10,000 dollars. To help pay the cost and make people suffer. These people just want a chance to do the desires that are in there heart. Evil people. Peaceful protests are ok. These people need to suffer. Smoke them rubber bullet them and arrest them with a 10,000 fine. Take there homes of them.
