So you believe you are a prophet? Not challenging you there, but even as such we are told to test the spirits, IOW the things you are hearing from God MUST line up with the scriptures, if they do not they are not of God but of the flesh but if you elevate the small still voice in your head above the scriptures you will most certainly miss the mark.

How can any man claim to know God if that man disregards the written word of God, the God breathed written word.  ::shrug::

"Man does not live on bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God"  Matt 4:4

Does anyone believe that Jesus and the disciples did not study the scriptures continuously? These were common men that were not well versed in the scriptures but from writings in the NT we see that they are most knowledgeable of the scriptures after their time with Christ and refer to the scriptures often.

Amen, Alan! Good post! It disturbs me when professing followers of Christ cast doubt upon His Word.

inspired word of God and the primary source for seeking His voice.

I guess you than disagree with Jesus,

Joh 5:39  Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.

Sounds more like agreement with Jesus.

One things that really burns me is when you claim your opinion is Jesus' opinion and that if we disagree with you we disagree with Jesus.  Read the verse YOU QUOTED.  Jesus is talking about he importance of Scriptures.

Paul told Timothy all we need are scriptures:

"All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness" 2 Timothy 3:16

Peter said Paul's letters were Scripture:

"And count the patience of our Lord as salvation, just as our beloved brother Paul also wrote to you according to the wisdom given him, as he does in all his letters when he speaks in them of these matters. There are some things in them that are hard to understand, which the ignorant and unstable twist to their own destruction, as they do the other Scriptures." 2 Peter 3:15-16

Scriptures doesn't call itself the written word of God.

"All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness" 2 Timothy 3:16

Scriptures unless it is enlightened by the Spirit of God brings forth death [emphasis mine]

"My soul clings to the dust; give me life according to your word!"  Psalm 119:25

"The Word that gives life was from the beginning, and this is the one our message is about." John 1:1

John 1,  1
In the beginning was the Word,  and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

1 John 1,  1-3
That which was from the beginning,  which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which

we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the WORD of Life, for the Life was manifested,

and we have seen it, and bear witness, and show unto you that eternal Life, which was with the Father,

and was manifested unto us.

That which we have seen and heard, declare we unto you....

Is the scriptures the Word or is Christ the Word?

Or is scripture a testimony and witness to the WORD??

I absolutely agree with you all, the Word Of God is truth, Jesus Christ the word of God come in the flesh, in Him there is no guile, even God when He speaks from Him like Christ comes rivers of living water, the words that they speak bring life to those who will listen. But my God is alive just as is Christ the risen Lord, who died once for the sins of mankind, who gave His life once as a ransom for many. He is my Lord. I walk with Him talk with Him give myself for Him and God is always with me, He is not deaf He is not dumb and His arms can reach me wherever I am, as David said, wherever I am there you are, there is no place in this universe where I can hide from Him. And His wisdom is beyond all understanding, if we where to fill books with the wisdom of God the universe could not contain them.

But mankind squeezed Him into one,

Arnt we so clever.

Never said I was a prophet.

2Co 3:3  Forasmuch as ye are manifestly declared to be the epistle of Christ ministered by us, written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God; not in tables of stone, but in fleshy tables of the heart.
2Co 3:4  And such trust have we through Christ to God-ward:
2Co 3:5  Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think any thing as of ourselves; but our sufficiency is of God;
2Co 3:6  Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life.

No, *we* are not so clever at.all., actually. It is God who inspired the written Word.

He can't be fit all inside of anything, but He knows how carried away *we* would get with no boundaries...so He gave us His Word to hold *us* in.  He is not a God of chaos, but one of order...and to keep the sheep from being devoured by the chaos that wolves who enter the sheepfold bring, He has a system in place to protect us.  If it contradicts what He's already said inside of scripture, its not from Him.  If its not supported by what He's already said inside of scripture, its not from Him.  If a wolf tries to tell you that the Bible can't be trusted and has lead many astray, its not from Him and we should RUN away.

Good word of the day by Andrew (WarningThePeople)

I’m making this video obviously not knowing where you are from, or what religion you were part of or are part of.  But I can tell you that no matter where you are and what religion your family is part of, they will be divided and offended at you if you choose to follow Jesus as your Master.  Even if your family is proclaimed “Christian”.  You will disgrace your family if you follow Jesus for real.  The reason why this is, is because the vast majority of Christians and families are not truly serving Jesus as their sole Master.  It will take everything, every single part of you to stand up for the Truth and resist when your family comes against you saying; “Why are you causing division? That’s of the devil… Why are you disgracing your family, you need to come back to the truth…”  It will take every part of your soul to resist and to go with Jesus.  I want to read you what Jesus said in regards to this in Luke chapter 12 starting in verse 51; “Do you suppose I came to give peace on earth?  I tell you not at all, but rather division.  For from now on five in one house will be divided: three against two, and two against three.  Father will be divided against son and son against father, mother against daughter and daughter against mother, mother-in-law against her daughter-in-law and daughter- in-law against her mother-in-law.” This is the truth of Jesus that people DO NOT want to hear, because the majority of people fear men, they fear their family, they fear what people THINK… “Well my friends will leave me, my family will be so, unhappy with me…” Have you counted the cost to follow Jesus and the cost of discipleship?  Jesus loves us, He doesn’t want to cause division and in fact this (division) is of the devil.  The devil is the one who causes division, because the majority of people are following the devil (he divided them from GOD), but it will sure look like you are the one that caused the division, because everyone else is saying “YOU are the ONLY one thinking the way YOU are…”  They will ACCUSE YOU and it will take EVERYTHING IN YOU to stand up for the truth and stand by the side of Jesus.  I want to encourage you today.  If you are choosing to follow Jesus for real, take a stand with Jesus EVEN if it causes a division in your family.  Stand up against them in LOVE and testify of the TRUTH OF JESUS.  DON’T be like the hypocrites, don’t be like those in church that say; “That’s of the devil to cause division…”  Because JESUS is like a dividing sword, and the majority of Christians today are unwilling to take a stand for the truth, because if they did it would divide their idols, their family members.  They care more about what their family thinks then what JESUS thinks.  Are you ready to take a stand for Jesus EVEN if it causes this division? Because we are in the LAST DAYS and the sheep are being separated from the goats and the wheat from the tares, and this will happen all the way down to your own family JUST as Jesus said, and it will PROVE if you REALLY love Jesus with your heart or if you hate Him; If you just SAY you love Jesus with your words but if you hate Him with your actions.     Are you willing to take a stand for Jesus?  Or are you going to stand with the hypocrites?  Are you going to stand with those in your family that you love, even though they stand directly opposed to Jesus?  WHAT are you going to do?  May the grace of Jesus be with you.

Not even the bible nor Jesus say that??

Joh_16:13  Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.

1Jn_5:6  This is he that came by water and blood, even Jesus Christ; not by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit that beareth witness, because the Spirit is truth.

Joh 14:16  And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;
Joh 14:17  Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.
Joh 14:18  I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.

It is by teh Spirit we are supposed to be Led, it is by the Spirit we are supposed to judge all things.

But how many christians are led by teh spirit.

God gave you Jesus, Jesus gave you the Holy Spirit if you believe.

So, you believe that God will contradict Himself? That He will give a word to someone that is in direct opposition to His written word?

There are a TON of people who have done horrible things and are *convinced* that they did them because the Spirit of God lead them to do them....if they only understood that all things are to be tested BY the Word and if they are in opposition to what God already said, they are NOT of Him.

You act as if the Holy Spirit cannot move and work and speak to us through the Scriptures.  You act as if it is a dead book and devoid of the Spirit.  That is not so.

He leads me BY the Word, by bringing to my mind remembrances of it, to lead me, teach me, guide me, protect me, discipline me, encourage and comfort me.  HOW can that be lesser or treated as if its not as "spiritual"???  HOW can that be dismissed?? It can't.  God's Word is alive and active, it is precious and a gift.  I think it a shame when I see so many try and diminish it's purpose, it's inspiration and the absolute wonder that God came near and left us a love letter.

Oh my gosh! You have GOT to be kidding me?! Please tell me that you are!  The Bible is the boundary for measuring what we "think" we are hearing from God.  If it is in opposition to what His written Word says, it is outside of His voice.

How wrong you are. We hide God's word in our heart, so that we might not sin against Him, as it is written in the Psalms.  God's word is alive and active, our knowing and obeying it, it is how people know that we LOVE Him.
He gave us Jesus, and Jesus would never advocate for us to disregard the Word. He USED the Word!  He is our example!

Are you honestly trying to say that people that know and love God's word are not His? If so...how ridiculous! I would rather err on the side of 2 Timothy 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

YOU go ahead and judge me (and others) all you want for knowing, loving and finding great joy in the study of God's Word.  YOU have no idea. NONE. It is where true relationship with Him is born.

Being that God Himself says that the word is inspired by Him, I think we need to take it seriously. I dont know any believers who make the word into an idol, but use it as guidance as to how to live, and a way of getting to know Him better.

All Scripture is inspir

Since he was referring to the old testament Torah, yet which part of it is scripture.

Why dont people trust God to teach them, why is it they insist on having things between Him and them, is He so frighteneing,

and again what would you do without your bible??

Dont you have Christ, do you not have God, have you not the Holy spirit, do you think that there is anything in the bible that God cant teach you, even more so, what is there that is not in the bible, so much more God has to give yet so little room is given to Him.

Nope.  Jesus doesn't contradict the written Word.  The Bible IS God's inspired Word and Jesus wants us to obey it.

Show me where oit say the BIBLE is inspired.

I have never once said it does not contain what God has to say to man, but it certainly in no way shape nor form replaces His word "JESUS" or that what He speaks

It supposed to be

you and God
you and Jesus
you and the holy Spirit

But man has

you bible God
you bible Jesus
you bible Holy Spirirt,,

If you have Christ which is the greater, Him or the bible, what has the bible Got that He hasnt. It cant even save anyone nor give anyman life.

Why do so many prefer it to God??

Another good word of the day by Mr Boshoff.

Never in history has there been as many printed Bibles in the world. Never before in history have as many people been literate. The Bible is available everywhere, on the internet. There are many Bible EXPERTS  in this world but there are very few people who know Jesus Christ.  The world has no knowledge of God because they don't know Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ Himself is the WAY. If you don't KNOW Jesus and you don't FOLLOW Him, you are LOST. You might be a Bible Expert but Jesus said:”My sheep LISTEN to My VOICE and they FOLLOW Me.” The world does not know right from wrong, they don't even know to blush, they have no shame. Christians are living in sin and wickedness and they don't even blush. They don't have Jesus Christ and they don't have the Holy Spirit. Many of them quote the Bible and they will tell you they have salvation but they are LOST in their SIN and they will PERISH because they don't KNOW Jesus Christ.  If we OBEY Jesus Christ, DO as He commanded as is also recorded in the gospels Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, if we REPENT and turn away from our evil ways and accept Jesus Christ, be baptized in water  and seek HIM, seek the Holy Spirit INFILLING, then we will find Him. Without the Holy Spirit guiding you, you are LOST. The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Christ. If you don't have the Holy Spirit and if you do not follow the guidance of the Holy Spirit you are LOST with your Bible. Jesus Christ is the LIVING GOD and He guides each and every disciple bu His Spirit. If you do not have the Spirit of Christ you do not belong to Him and you will PERISH.  There are many Bible Experts in this world but very little knowledge of God and that is why they SIN and they will perish in their sin if they do not REPENT and seek Jesus Christ. If you do not get to know Jesus Christ and follow and obey Him you will PERISH in your sins WITH your Bible. Seek Jesus NOW while you can before it is TOO LATE, FOLLOW and OBEY Him or you will certainly perish. May Jesus bless you.

This is another good teaching.   ::headscratch::

In al His Love

2 timothy 3v16

All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right.

Its not a question of either/or, The Bible is Gods word to us.

That is what I was thinking too, Chosen...why is there this driving *need* to make it into an "either-or", a "Black or White" issue. Its not.  God is rarely like that. He is sovereign AND He grants us free will.  Jesus is fully God AND He is fully man.  We are sinners, but God sees us as Jesus righteousness.  The "either-or" card, limits God into one box or the other, IMO..which is ironic, because that is what we have been "scolded" for, because he says the Bible "limits" Him to one book.

Me also, and I fully agree that the Bible is God's word to us, in fact I would even go as far as to say that our relationship with our Lord should begin with reading our Bibles and read them daily as long as we are able to read the words within the pages or on the screen, the personal revelations from God are only going to confirm the word we have already read or possibly in some instances, point us to the place that needs to be read.

Setting aside the word in the belief that the Holy Spirit will remain with and individual and continue to guide them will eventually lead that person astray.

The Bible tells us to test the spirit but if we don't use the Bible as our foundation how can we affirm that the spirits are truly of God?

 ::amen!::  Good post!

I love the written Word of God, it is 100% trustworthy and 100% God's Word to us; it is our foundation, our boundary, our testing tool, AND I listen for the personal touch of the Holy Spirit's whisper on my life.  I long for it, actually...and sometimes, He is so quiet, that I mourn...but that is when I am SO glad to have His written Word.  I pick it up and I can "hear" God to me through its pages and promises.  It explodes through my fickle emotions and perceptions of silence and cuts right to the quick of "This is TRUTH, let it rise above your feelings, girl!  I.Am.With.You!"

That's a straw man.

Nobody is claiming the Bible saves us.  We all know Jesus saves us.

We are all pointing out the fallacy of your contention that the Bible is corrupt, ineffectual, uninspired and misleading.

Well than I guess from your arguement, the mormans, the Catholichs, protestants, Jehovah Witness, Sevent day Adventist, Greek Orthodox, russion orthodox, teh hunderd different Christian churches, baptists, Apsostolic, Foursquare, Assemblies of God, Church of God, Angilcans, armenian, and so an and so on must all be preaching teh truth and walking it, since teh yall preach teh bible,

And that is only the short list

One true God, man has a thousand variation alls based on the bible, which was written depending which one your read, based on two differnet text that still toady there is contention over.
How arrogant and pridefull is man

Its a good thing God is patient and forgiving.

If God is in your Hand than you are not in His.

Like the Pic cool.

Sad to think that there are Bible Scholars all over the world, since who knows when who study the bible, all the scripture they can find, even visit places the bible speaks of, yet when they die they will without knowing God nor believeing in Jesus.

Just a few days ago, a friend of mine tolde me how when she was a young christian a daugter of a friend ofher mum was going ti visit and she was a bible scholar. She told me how excited she was to hear she was coming, someone to discuss the Lord, but when she came and was asked if she would like to talk about Jesus, she said she didnt believe in Him she was just a bible scholar.

What did Paul say,

Php 3:5  Circumcised the eighth day, of the stock of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, an Hebrew of the Hebrews; as touching the law, a Pharisee;
Php 3:6  Concerning zeal, persecuting the church; touching the righteousness which is in the law, blameless.
Php 3:7  But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ.
Php 3:8  Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ,

You would think that if christians had Jesus, they would go to Him to learn about Him said thing is as He said few do.

Joh 5:39  Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.
Joh 5:40  And ye will not come to me, that ye might have life.
Joh 5:41  I receive not honour from men.

So laugh its all good.

I dont think that some people realise the power that is in Gods word. I know people who have been healed just through believing Gods promises from His word and I know an infertile couple who had a miracle baby after deciding to rely on promises from Gods word about children and fertility.
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

Its dangerous stuff to try and play down the Bible and its importance. Its not just a book, its God talking to Us.
