It's a secret society, by it's own definition, it causes you to keep things from your wife or to break your oath of secrecy.   

Freemasonry is only a worldly thing and not a Spiritual thing in Salvation, so how can a FM better himself ? he can only come across as good in a worldly way, like in promoting himself how he wants to be seen, because he has learnt a craft that elevates man. nothing wrong with that, but such is just only as filthy rags in the light of God.   

What does bother me is when a Son ask a question, he should get a truthful reply ? they don't reply ! and that is a Sin.

I would put my family before any organisation and inform my family everything I know to the best of my ability at all times.

As a true Christian, one knows what secrets are the work of.

Sure I have friends and people I look up to who are FM but I know people who claim to be Christians that I don't look up to much at all.

I had a political party bloke shake my hand and he went side to side ? not up and down, so I asked my FM in law what was that all about ? he said nothing at all to me, it was just as if I did not exist ?

Now I take on a great lot of information when someone shakes my hand, because in my business it can express things about a person.

John Ankerberg’s comments are misleading.  For example:

Misconception:  While Freemasonry has many secrets, the term "hoodwink" is not one of them.

The word is often misconstrued by non-Freemasons as having negative overtones due to our more modern-day definition of the word which defines it as meaning to be deceived or tricked rather than its actual meaning which is to cover the eyes.

A Masonic hoodwink is not used as a method of deception.

It is simply a symbolic and visual method of covering the eyes which is used in the initiation of the candidate into acquiring new knowledge, hence the term, "from darkness to light".

The Masonic symbolism of the hoodwink is not about placing the candidate into the darkness, which is symbolic of ignorance, but about the removal of the darkness to let in the light, which is symbolic of knowledge.
 


Albert Mackey, Masonic scholar, historian and author described it as:

    "A symbol of the secrecy, silence, and darkness in which the mysteries of our art should be preserved from the unhallowed gaze of the profane.

    It has been supposed to have a symbolic reference to the passage in Saint John's Gospel (I, 5), "And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not."

    But it is more certain that there is in the hoodwink a representation of the mystical darkness which always preceded the rites of the ancient initiations."

This "darkness" exists before the person becomes a mason, according to the masons, and is now removed, once they become a mason.

Therefore,

Even Christians who had seen the light and been Christians before they became masons were in darkness.
