Just in case you didn't realize it, God is in charge of what we eat. This is a matter of fact:
Did you know that (so far) God changed man's diet 4 times! Think about it. Here is a short list showing the progression from the old to the latest or newest diet given to man:
In the Garden of Eden: (A Vegetarian Diet given to man and also to the beasts)
Genesis 1:28 And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.
Genesis 1:29 And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat.
Genesis 1:30 And to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to every thing that creepeth upon the earth, wherein there is life, I have given every green herb for meat: and it was so.
After the Flood: (Now, meat can be added. All kinds of meats are allowed)
Genesis 9:1 And God blessed Noah and his sons, and said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth.
Genesis 9:2 And the fear of you and the dread of you shall be upon every beast of the earth, and upon every fowl of the air, upon all that moveth upon the earth, and upon all the fishes of the sea; into your hand are they delivered.
Genesis 9:3 Every moving thing that liveth shall be meat for you; even as the green herb have I given you all things.
New Dietary rules given to Israel (God's peculiar people): (many meats are now prohibited)
(This list is incredible!)
Leviticus 11:1 And the LORD spake unto Moses and to Aaron, saying unto them,
Leviticus 11:2 Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, These are the beasts which ye shall eat among all the beasts that are on the earth.
(Lev 11:3) Includes all beasts that have parted hooves, cloven feet, and chew on a cud "that shall ye eat".
(Lev 11:4,5,6) But you can't eat of them that chew the cud, but don't have divided hooves such as the camel, the Coney, and the hare.
Leviticus 11:7 And you can't eat any ham, pork or bacon because although the pig has a divided hoof, and a cloven foot, yet he doesn't cheweth a cud; "he is unclean to you".
(Leviticus 11:9,10) You can only eat fish with fins and scales in the waters, in the seas, and in the rivers, "them shall ye eat", but all other seafood "shall be an abomination unto you": "ye shall not eat of their flesh"
(Leviticus 11:13-19) And these are the fowls; "they shall not be eaten": the eagle, and the ossifrage, and the osprey, and the vulture, and the kite after his kind; every raven after his kind; and the owl, and the night hawk, and the cuckoo, and the hawk after his kind, and the little owl, and the cormorant, and the great owl, and the swan, and the pelican, and the gier eagle, and the stork, the heron after her kind, and the lapwing, and the bat.
(Leviticus 11:20,21) All fowls that creep, going upon all four, shall be an abomination unto you. Yet these may ye eat of every flying creeping thing that goeth upon all four, which have legs above their feet, to leap withal upon the earth;
Lev 11:22,23 Even these of them ye may eat; the locust after his kind, and the bald locust after his kind, and the beetle after his kind, and the grasshopper after his kind. But all other flying creeping things, which have four feet, shall be an abomination unto you.
Lev 11:29,30 These also shall be unclean unto you among the creeping things that creep upon the earth; the weasel, and the mouse, and the tortoise after his kind, and the ferret, and the chameleon, and the lizard, and the snail, and the mole.
Lev 11:41,42 And every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth shall be an abomination; it shall not be eaten. Whatsoever goeth upon the belly, and whatsoever goeth upon all four, or whatsoever hath more feet among all creeping things that creep upon the earth, them ye shall not eat; for they are an abomination.
Lev 11:46,47 This is the law of the beasts, and of the fowl, and of every living creature that moveth in the waters, and of every creature that creepeth upon the earth: To make a difference between the unclean and the clean, and between the beast that may be eaten and the beast that may not be eaten.
New dietary rules given to everyone, Jew and Gentile alike: (All meat is allowed again with no restrictions, if it be eaten with thanksgiving to God in prayer)
1 Timothy 4:4 For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving:
1 Timothy 4:5 For it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer.
Acts 10:11 And saw heaven opened, and a certain vessel descending unto him, as it had been a great sheet knit at the four corners, and let down to the earth:
Acts 10:12 Wherein were all manner of four footed beasts of the earth, and wild beasts, and creeping things, and fowls of the air.
Acts 10:13 And there came a voice to him, Rise, Peter; kill, and eat.
Acts 10:14 But Peter said, Not so, Lord; for I have never eaten any thing that is common or unclean.
Acts 10:15 And the voice spake unto him again the second time, What God hath cleansed, that call not thou common.
When we tell people how to study the Bible by using 'right division', they often tell us that God never changes and that He would never change anything. Not so, not so. They rattle off the same old answer, "God is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow" based on Hebrews 13:8.
They fail to realize that although God does not change, his instructions for mankind have always changed and they have changed in many ways. This is only just one of the ways in which they have changed and there are many more.
Now you are free to eat any kind of meat that you like. (So go ahead and feel free to enjoy some grasshoppers) :-)
