We know that God has appeared and/or given people understanding and guidance, so is it possible that Mohammad was given light like other prophets from God? What are your thoughts?

My thoughts are that Islam is in gross error, and that Jesus is the only way to the true God.

God appears and many wanna-bes also appear.
What appeared to mohammed was the spirit of antichrist pretending to be the God of the bible.

Mohammad's light is utter darkness. He was no prophet of God, but a tool of Satan.

Just sharing.
Catholic view: All divine revelation ended with the death of the last of the 12, St. John. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) is a few centuries too late.
Personal view:n The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) borrowed pieces of revelation given by God to the Christians and the Jews and in blending this with Persian paganism attempted to created a religion that was ideal in his own views.

Is Islam from God? no
Is Islam about God. yes
And, yes, I mean it is about THE God. Christians attempting to separate 'Allah' as a separate other god are off-base. Allah is simply the Arabic word meaning 'God.' Moreover, the Bible itself attests that the people living in that area were worshipers of THE God as descendants of Abraham.
So, Islam is more like a cult that spun off of Judaism than a separate religion. It is closer to orthodox Judaism than it is to Buddhism or Shento or animism.

I thought it came from us? Meaning Christians. Did it really come from Judaism?

Islam was related to Abraham only through his son Ishmael. There may have been some Yahweh-ism with the Ishmaelites for a while, but 600 or so years AD, Muhammed was primarily taking the poly theistic people in Arabia and settling on one god like the Jews and Christians, that one god was Allah, or the moon god, and fabricating a counterfeit religion being Islam. Allah is nothing at all like Yahweh.
Counterfeits always have a lot in common with the real deal. Satan in cahoots with Muhammed masterfully counterfeited the Koran and his "god".

Allah only means God. Allah does not mean moon god. I'm sure there was a moon god in Arabian mythology but I doubt his name was simply God/Allah.

http://www.biblebelievers.org.au/moongod.htmThe IDEA of monotheism came from Christianity and Judaism, but their god, did not.
Yes, allah can mean god, just as when I say I pray to God, I mean Yahweh.

Actually Yahweh simply means "The Existing One". Allah just means God. Kind of like Elohim I think.
Christians from the Middle East when speaking Arabic and referring to God say Allah directing all utterances of course to Yahweh.

Yes it can be just like us saying god created the earth....... But Allah is definitely a contrived and counterfeited deity. It is Islam's desire to somehow convince the masses that Allah and Yahweh are the same deity. Not a big leap to saying Islam is another way, where Jesus said He was the only way. I don't think Yahweh would have been so schizophrenic as to be totally different natures as Islam vs Judeo Christianity portray.
Jesus can't be a great prophet of Islam and a liar at the same time about being the son of God and the ONLY way to the father.
Not to mention the "oversight" in the Koran about Ishmael being the son of the promise vs Isaac. The counterfeit is always similar but different.

If I understand correctly "Allah" is singular while "Elohim" is the plural form of Eloh.
Kinda like Cherub VX Cherubim.

You've identified the wrong group. It's not the Ishmaelites. It's the Midianites.
Midian = Medina.

All predecessors to the Arabs. There is no distinction today. Islam is Islam and Allah is Allah, and Yahweh is Yahweh. BUT Allah is not Yahweh. Yahweh is a god (allah), but he is not the one true god. Muhammed is the instigator of taking the pantheon of gods and selecting Allah the moon god to be his monotheistic god like the Jews and Christians have. He was jealous of them.

There are Christian influences among many others, but primarily it is a re-interpretation of the Torah.

It is a counterfeiting and bastardization of the Torah. In order to give it a "feel" of legitimacy. Like I said, there are many subtle but very big differences. To the casual reader, it would seem fairly innocuous. You know, the way the great deceiver does things.
Again, if the deception and ruse of Allah and Yahweh is accepted, then it shortens the leap to "another way" to the Father, that Jesus said he was the ONLY way. Though conceding Jesus was a great prophet (while being a liar) is sneaky to the casual reader or comparer of the religions.

Archaeologists in the last century uncovered a temple of the Moon-god (Sin) in southern Arabia. The symbols of the crescent moon and no less than twenty-one inscriptions with the name Sin were found in this temple. An idol which may be the Moon-god himself was also discovered. This was later confirmed by other well-known archeologists.
The temple of the Moon-god was active even in the Christian era. Evidence gathered from both North and South Arabia demonstrate that Moon-god worship was clearly active even in Muhammad's day and was still the dominant cult. According to numerous inscriptions,
while the name of the Moon-god was Sin, his title was al-ilah, i.e. "the deity," meaning that he was the chief or high god among the gods.

I agree Lively. All one has to do is to look at the many appearances of the crescent moon in the Arabic and Muslim society and it's architecture, and such. That didn't come from it just being an interesting looking shape.

Yes, yet ask any Muslim why there is a crescent moon on the flag of their nation of origin and they cannot tell you. They don't know much about their origins.

But there is a distinction in antiquity. The Midianites were descendants of Abraham through Keturah, not Hagar. They were not Ishmaelites. They were descendants of the later sons that Abraham "sent away with presents."
And the Bible itself attests that they were worshipers of God, noting that Jethro (Moses father-in-law), was high priest
of Midian. Note that upon leaving Egypt, Moses first plan appears to have been to lead the Israelites to Midian. Jethro had to come out and meet him and tell him this wasn't their promised land. THEN Moses went to Sinai.

Yes, Abraham was a worshipper of God, our Yahweh, even among the pagans in the land of Ur. I am not debating if ever there were Yahweh worshiippers other than the Jews, I AM, however saying Muhammed most certainly counterfeited Allah after the monotheisms of the Jews and Christians. Yes, at some point after leaving Abraham even Ishmael and Hagar I'm sure worshipped the God of Abraham, but it became bastardized many years later and culminated with the hoax of Muhammed and his "holy book". Muhammed's god is not the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. If he is, he is extremely schizophrenic. Just because a deity is called a deity in another language doesn't make two distinctly different deities equivalent.

Hahaha Hey Jaime is not having it. He's adamant about making sure that no one confuses the God of Islam with the God of Christianity.
I don't think I've ever seen Jaime this enthusiastic outside of the politics forum. Alright then Big Brother.
I just wanted to be sure that you weren't saying that Allah is exclusive to the Allah of Islam.

Allah only means God. Allah does not mean moon god.
It means 'god' in the generic sense. THe same way as when George Harrison sung 'My Sweet Lord,' he was NOT singing to the True Lord but to some hindu idol.

Jesus the Good Shepherd is a shepherd of many folds. Perhaps the Muslims of the world (and there are many), and every other religion worldwide are one of the many folds that Jesus tends to? And when his sheep stray for want of evil, he leaves His flock behind and searches for His lost lamb. As a Christian, I can and I will love all of mankind, whatever their belief, whatever their offense. And I will have mercy. For if I don't, how shall I obtain the love and mercy of my Lord Jesus Christ? We should pray on this matter and ask for Our Lord's blessing.
Peace to you all my dear brothers and sisters of all nations, color, creed, ethnicity and religion.
