I would encourage folk to learn about how the Mormon Church began. If you still want to be with them after that, then there's not much left to be said.
Joseph Smith and his brother were con men, and to call them sex addicts might also be appropriate. Joseph Smith's illustrious career began in the state of New York where he had built up a fortune-telling business with his magic rocks. He conned people into believing that he could tell them their future which would be revealed to him by his magic rocks. The state of New York finally locked him up, later released him, and told him to never again come to New York state. Smith relocated to Ohio. He landed in Kirkland, Ohio, where he met a man named Sidney Rigdon. Sidney had been a Restoration Movement preacher who was an associate of Alexander Campbell, who is most associated with the Churches of Christ today. Paul Conkin, in his book, "American Originals," tells about the beginnings of the Mormon Church. Professor Conkin is of the opinion that Sidney Rigdon, who was a trained theologian, wrote most, or perhaps all, of the Book of Mormon. Joseph's brother later raped Sidney Rigdon's young daughter. Fast forward some years and another famous Mormon, Brigham Young, has climbed up through the power ranks and he and Joseph Smith are at odds. Smith and his brother, Hyum, were in an Illinois jail. There are two sides to this story. One is that the Smith brothers forcefully broke out of jail. The other side is that Brigham Young wanted Joseph Smith gone and he arranged for the Smith brothers to easily escape jail. As the two left they were shot down and it happened as though they were expected to be leaving and there were shooters waiting for them. If rape and murder are your cup of tea then the Mormons are for you! Also, think about whether or not you believe that the Mormons are the true Church, the elect, and think about whether or not you believe as they do that Jesus Christ is the brother of Lucifer. If all of that is OK with you, then go for it.
