I hear about the Day of the Pentecost (acts)

The Day of Pentecost is the day when Jesus ascended to heaven and on that day the apostles were filled with the Holy Spirit.

Dear Susan, I believe what you are asking is what is a Pentecostal Christian. There are several denominations that are Pentecostal or Charismatic. I am undenominational, but I am Pentecostal. Pentecostals believe in receiving the Holy Spirit after they are saved as evidenced by speaking in tongues. The same thing happened to the believers in the upper room on the day of Pentecost. There is a verse in John 14:17 foretelling this event. "Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you." This did come to pass on the day of Pentecost for them.

The Holy Spirit reproves the world of sin, and of judgment, and of righteousness. He speaks of Jesus, He leads us into all truth, and He comforts us. The question for us today as it was in Acts 19:2  He said unto them, Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed? Yes I have, and how do I know that? I do not have to argue the fact or wonder if I have received the Holy Ghost: I spoke in tongues.

Acts 10:44  While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word.
Acts 10:45  And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost.
Acts 10:46  For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God.

Acts 19:6  And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake with tongues

Larry 2,

That was an excellent definition as a Pentecostal we belive our origins date that far back, never the less the majority of folks were Messianic Jews and hence the birth of true Christianity.

Pentecost is not a denomination..... It's an experience that all Pentecostal share, the baptism of Holy Ghost evidence with speaking in tongues.
