Forgivness of sins
« on: Thu Jan 19, 2012 - 00:21:23 »
I know that ALL of our sins were forgiven when we asked Jesus into our lives, but I need the verses that show where after we have been saved and forgiven that if we make a mistake that God forgives us of sins again.
Please help!!

Thank you,
God Bless,
Fenton

Hi fenton, I think this is what you're looking for.

1 John 1:9  If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Psalms 86:5  For thou, Lord, art good, and ready to forgive; and plenteous in mercy unto all them that call upon thee.

Yes it is, and you might read the experience of the Apostle Paul had with this problem in Romans Chapter Seven. Finally realizing that he has an old nature, and he has a real battle, but he comes to the conclusion in Romans 8:1, that there is therefore no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus.

John 1:8  If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.

And if you go back to 1 John 1:6 the context is fellowship.  If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth:

It sounds as if you might profit from a pamphlet I wrote on the security you have in Christ at the following links.

We are forgiven when we ask God to forgive us, because at that moment, if we are sincere, He applies the atonement to our lives.

We are forgiven from that day onward ONLY when we are walking in covenant relationship with Him, as demonstrated here...

1 John 1:7
But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin.

How do we walk in the Light?

1 John 2:10
Whoever loves his brother abides in the light, and in him there is no cause for stumbling.

When we are walking in love towards people (read the rest of I John), we are fulfilling our covenant obligation, therefore remaining abiding in the covenant.
