My husband and I became new believers on July 19th at a Pentecostal house of worship .    Amen!

Baptism is next in September.    What do we expect? What will that mean?  I can just imagine it must be a powerful experience.   My husband and I have the holy spirit in our hearts.

 Amen!

if you are talking about water baptism, it is a command given by Jesus, to symbolise His Resurrection, and yours in a new life in Him.

Susan
imagine God pouring His blood over you and all the sins you have ever committed being washed away, never to be remembered again.

Hello Susane

Baptism in water means you have to your old life (your worldly, sinful life.  and I do not mean you have to kill yourself!  What this means is that you have to stop doing everything that you used to do which was bad - telling lies, adultry, fornication, stealing, grudges, envy, laziness, drinking alcohol, etc.

If after being batised in water you continue to sin as above and/or you go back to do those bad things you used to do before baptism - you have to rebaptise again, because the first baptism was just a bath ...!

Baptism i water is a prequisit to baptism in the Holy Spirit.

Scratching head....a little confused.

I see no indication in Scripture that anyone after being baptized but who sinned again... had to be rebaptized.

So, how large or small a sin does it take for one to need to be rebaptized?

DCR's right

there is no scripture that states you have to be baptised again and again,

that would be like Christ dying again, everytime you confessed a sin....

Fenton and DCR

No one has to be spoon-fed by the scriptures.  It is not everything that is written in the scriptures - otherwise we would not be able to lift the bible from the floor!  For example, who told human beings to retake marriage vows?  Or to confess their sins over and over again.  Logically we should know that  if we have sinned once, we should not sin again.  But we keep sinning and keep asking God for forgiveness.

In the same way when you  are baptised you have to take it  seriously and keep yourself from sinning  -  otherwise, like confession, you have to rebaptise again.  One thing is certain God will not be displeased with you for this action.  So, better to be safe than sorry ... if in doubt, there is no harm in baptising again, whether or not it is in the scriptures.

God likes it when we go the extra mile to please him anyway.
