Poop emits particles into the air, that we percieve as an odor.

But "stink" is a value judgment based on what your receptors tell you.

If you can't smell it, it can't "stink," even if it continues to emit odor particles.

I love reminding people that all smell is particle, and that if they smell it, it's because part of it is sitting in their nostril. Goes over very well.
