I agree that we need to replace the bad ones come election time but I beleive that Obama is one of the good ones. With a different Congress I think that he could do much to improve our country but it will take time and money.

Remember all the criticism over Bush's spending and the debt that spending accumulated? Obama spend more in his first 2 years than Bush did in his entire 8 year presidency. And our debt has never been higher causing us to time after time raise the debt ceiling. To any unbiased person, this President doesn't deserve a second term and is either trying to destroy the country to impart a socialistic system or is in WAY over his head.

Hi, why would you want to define the way people should seek God's guidance by raising a number of questions that are personally important to you?

Hey Snargles, exactly when do you figure Obama can take ownership of the economy? 3rd yr of the 2nd term? When? At least whichever Republican wins in 2012 can blame Obama until my grandkids are retired for his contribution to the deficit.

With a Republican house AND Senate, Obama could probably be a pretty good President, like Clinton was with a Republican House and Senate. But teamed up with Harry and Nancy prior to Nov. 2012, Obama got pretty much every wrong thing he wanted to implement. Hence the accusation of destroying the country.

By the way Snargles, I thought you were a southern conservative church of Christ guy. Where did this political anomalous point of view come from? My parents and grandparents and virtually everyone in my family tree were conservative West Texas Democrats until they figured out the party deserted them, now they have voted Republican for several decades.

I grew up in a very conservative CoC cong and where I am now is a few miles down the road but still conservative (no Christmas, no Easter, no talky women). My family had been Republican since the war, the Civil War, but even my dad got fed up with George Bush. I vote Republican on local offices but at the federal level Democrats come closer to my views. I am more Stonite than Campbellite so I think we should be pacifists, lower our standard of living to benefit the poor, be less exclusive with respect to the denoms and I haven't got the trinity thing figured out.

Like I said before, my family and most people we know in our hometown voted Democrat until some point in time, but then they perceived the party left them over abortion and gay issues and such. Also, I think it was about the time of LBJ that this happened because he was not very well liked in West Texas. It probably solidified with Carter followed by such a strong leader as Reagan. did meet a Democrat a few years ago in Midland. Weird kinda fella.

Where abouts do you call home? In general terms.

Spent my whole life, so far, in Appalachian Ohio but I have connections to Texas on my mother's side.

Even though I am a conservative CoCer I go against the grain when it comes to politics. I liked LBJ (although I was still a kid) and Jimmy Carter and I think of Reagan as a divorced actor who though despite having DoC roots, never had much of a religious life. I don't understand Reagan's popularity with evangelicals. I thinks gays are going to hell but as long as they are here I think they should have legal rights including the right to marry. Gossip is a sin but we don't stop gossips from marrying. One of the reasons I don't vote for Democrats on the local and state level is because many of them are Catholic and I was brought up that them thar are evil people and not to be trusted.
I think it best that I don't talk about politics much at church. That is probably a good idea for most of us.

My main praise of Reagan is that he inspired the country to believe in itself again following the Carter Malaise.

I think Jimmy Carter is a good man but his presidency had problems beyond his control. It wasn't his time to be in the White House. Reagan fell asleep during cabinet meetings. I can't get that picture out of my mind.

In my opinion Jimmy Carter caused all the problems he experienced and in fact is at fault for a lot of the problems we have experienced since his presidency, especially in the Middle East. Carter was a good man and a lousy President and even worse ex-president. With Obama, Carter will never again be the worst.

That might be because the CIA is not naturally a good fit with a Democrat administration. There's just something that doesn't quite gel between the two. Can't put my finger on it... ""Passes a Pohutukawa to the next poster.""

If true, all you are telling me is that, even in his sleep, Ronaldus Magnus was the best president in my life time.
