Before Obama's State of Union, Ask Yourself These Questions:
« on: Tue Jan 24, 2012 - 13:00:20 »
Before Obama starts spinning the facts in his State of the Union address, ask yourself these questions. You might have to do some digging to get the answers.

• What was the National debt three years ago?
• What was America’s global competitiveness standing?
• How many more Americans are on the poverty rolls and on food stamps in the last three years?
• What have our deficits been the last three years?
• What was the average price for gasoline three years ago?
• What was the price of a gallon of milk or a carton of eggs three years ago?
• How many Americans have lost their jobs or careers in the last three years?

Also ask yourself if the media and Democrats are holding Obama to the same standings they held George W. Bush to.

Remember all the criticism over Bush's spending and the debt that spending accumulated? Obama spend more in his first 2 years than Bush did in his entire 8 year presidency. And our debt has never been higher causing us to time after time raise the debt ceiling. To any unbiased person, this President doesn't deserve a second term and is either trying to destroy the country to impart a socialistic system or is in WAY over his head.

Cry all that you like. Neither Romney, Gingrich, Santorum, nor Paul is going to defeat Obama in November.
MAYBE the Republican Party will select someone else to run for President. Maybe not.

Why do you support Obama, if you don't mind saying?

All he does is add to the national debt and borrow from China. The next generations will be so burdened by that debt. I don't see how anyone would want 4 more years of Obama, which would send our whole economy off a cliff.  ::cryingtears::

The debt has increased because George Bush cut taxes to make himself popular and to benefit his rich friends. He also involved us in a costly and unnecessary war. Obama is trying to fix Bush's mistakes.

If you've been the boss for 3 years, and you're still blaming everything on the old boss - you're stupid.

Bush deserves a lot of the blame.  And Obama continuing a lot of Bush's policies deserves plenty himself.

Obaba should have gotten us out of Iraq sooner and should get us out of Afghanistan and should have closed the prison in Cuba by now. The problem with closing the prison is that no Congressmen want the prisoners moved to his state.

This is misinformed at best and dishonest at worst. Obama has, in his first 3 years, already spent more than Bush did in 8 years. Obama has spent far more than Bush's tax cuts cost and more than the Iraq war cost. It's not even close. Now I may have an unfair advantage in that I am really good at math and I'm sure liberals think I should be taxed for it, but that's how it is.

And this is coming from a Ron Paul supporter who thinks we should bring all our troops home and close hundreds of bases around the world because we are broke. It's not like I'm a Bush fan and am not a Romney or Gingrich fan. I'm just somebody who looks at the facts and doesn't just support someone because of their political affiliation or the color of their skin.

I know I am in a minority but I think our standard  of lliving in the US is too high. We should increase taxes, cut spending, stop propping up Israel, cut way back on military involvement and be willing to pay more (and do with less) to buy goods made in America.

Increase taxes? So politicians can get rich?! That doesn't make sense. The world is not helped by more of our money going to the government. The Bible tells us to help the poor, not prop up an imperialistic government that only seems to know how to waste what we work for. We're giving the government FAR too much of our income. It should be in the hands of the people. Money is power and we are giving WAY too much power to a few politicians in Washington, DC. We need to STOP feeding the monster. Not give it more!

In a democracy the government is the people. We need to replace many politicians in Washington with public servants who represent all of America and not just their special interests. Government is ordained by God. Scripture tells us to support our rules. Many of those elected rulers are a bunch of blood sucking self-serving jerks who should get the boot but the underlying principle remains.

Scripture was talking about a dictatorship. That's the system they were under. If we use your logic, we'd HAVE to vote for a politician just beause they're in office. That would, after all, be "supporting" them. So just the opposite is true of us since, technically, we are the rulers and we hire the Presidents, Senators and Congressmen. We need to fire the blood thirsty politicans and certainly don't need to give them any more of our money. That's the very last thing we need to do. We need to starve the cancer and defund the ones who are destroying our country!

I agree that we need to replace the bad ones come election time but I beleive that Obama is one of the good ones. With a different Congress I think that he could do much to improve our country but it will take time and money.

Hi, why would you want to define the way people should seek God's guidance by raising a number of questions that are personally important to you?

Hey Snargles, exactly when do you figure Obama can take ownership of the economy? 3rd yr of the 2nd term? When? At least whichever Republican wins in 2012 can blame Obama until my grandkids are retired for his contribution to the deficit.

I agree that we need to replace the bad ones come election time but I believe that Obama is one of the good ones. With a different Congress I think that he could do much to improve our country but it will take time and money.

With a Republican house AND Senate, Obama could probably be a pretty good President, like Clinton was with a Republican House and Senate. But teamed up with Harry and Nancy prior to Nov. 2012, Obama got pretty much every wrong thing he wanted to implement. Hence the accusation of destroying the country.

By the way Snargles, I thought you were a southern conservative church of Christ guy. Where did this political anomalous point of view come from? My parents and grandparents and virtually everyone in my family tree were conservative West Texas Democrats until they figured out the party deserted them, now they have voted Republican for several decades.

I grew up in a very conservative CoC cong and where I am now is a few miles down the road but still conservative (no Christmas, no Easter, no talky women). My family had been Republican since the war, the Civil War, but even my dad got fed up with George Bush. I vote Republican on local offices but at the federal level Democrats come closer to my views. I am more Stonite than Campbellite so I think we should be pacifists, lower our standard of living to benefit the poor, be less exclusive with respect to the denoms and I haven't got the trinity thing figured out.

Like I said before, my family and most people we know in our hometown voted Democrat until some point in time, but then they perceived the party left them over abortion and gay issues and such. Also, I think it was about the time of LBJ that this happened because he was not very well liked in West Texas. It probably solidified with Carter followed by such a strong leader as Reagan. did meet a Democrat a few years ago in Midland. Weird kinda fella.

Where abouts do you call home? In general terms.

Spent my whole life, so far, in Appalachian Ohio but I have connections to Texas on my mother's side.

Even though I am a conservative CoCer I go against the grain when it comes to politics. I liked LBJ (although I was still a kid) and Jimmy Carter and I think of Reagan as a divorced actor who though despite having DoC roots, never had much of a religious life. I don't understand Reagan's popularity with evangelicals. I thinks gays are going to hell but as long as they are here I think they should have legal rights including the right to marry. Gossip is a sin but we don't stop gossips from marrying. One of the reasons I don't vote for Democrats on the local and state level is because many of them are Catholic and I was brought up that them thar are evil people and not to be trusted.
I think it best that I don't talk about politics much at church. That is probably a good idea for most of us.

I think Jimmy Carter is a good man but his presidency had problems beyond his control. It wasn't his time to be in the White House. Reagan fell asleep during cabinet meetings. I can't get that picture out of my mind.

In my opinion Jimmy Carter caused all the problems he experienced and in fact is at fault for a lot of the problems we have experienced since his presidency, especially in the Middle East. Carter was a good man and a lousy President and even worse ex-president. With Obama, Carter will never again be the worst.

A lot of the problems with Iran that Carter made worse started with or foreign policy missteps involving the CIA.

That might be because the CIA is not naturally a good fit with a Democrat administration. There's just something that doesn't quite gel between the two. Can't put my finger on it... ""Passes a Pohutukawa to the next poster.""

If true, all you are telling me is that, even in his sleep, Ronaldus Magnus was the best president in my life time.
