Back in '92 I was half-heartedly arguing Clinton against Bush witha  friend who kept insisting on, instead of talking about issues, repeatedly calling Clinton a Communist.  I asked him why and he explained that "liberal" politics were simply the first step on the red brick road.  I said then, "okay, if that's true, then it's fair to call Bush a Nazi.  I don't think it's true, but it's the end result of the same logic."

He blew up. He said that no, it was not the same thing, and no one had the right to do such a thing!

I've seen this reaction over and over since.  Interesting, given some of the responses on this thread.

Not to mention what the response would be--or the fate of the thread would be--id someone started a similar thread about GW Bush.

The potential for fascism is hardly limited to any one political ideology.
