Niece of Martin Luther King, Jr. Urges Pro-life Voting

WASHINGTON, Nov. 1 /Christian Newswire/ -- Dr. Alveda King, whose uncle was Martin Luther King, Jr., has released the following statement to voters across America regarding next week’s elections.

An Election Message from Dr. Alveda King
"Vote as if your life depends upon it. Someone’s life does! Be encouraged that you are not alone in your desire to see an end to the senseless violence against the most helpless of our brothers and sisters. Our Lord Jesus Christ taught us to care for the least of these. We can demonstrate our compassion by voting for pro-life candidates in the upcoming elections.

"My uncle, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. once said: 'Human progress is neither automatic nor inevitable. Every step toward the goal of justice requires sacrifice, suffering, and struggle; the tireless exertions and passionate concern of dedicated individuals. This is no time for apathy or complacency. This is a time for vigorous and positive action.'

"We must vote for life this year, and every year, because it is the right thing to do.

"Please, I urge you, do not be distracted by political rhetoric. The most pressing civil rights issue of this season is the protection of the lives of the pre-born.

"Your vote counts. Please cast it, for life!"

-- Dr. Alveda King

Dr. King serves full-time on the staff of Priests for Life and Gospel of Life Ministries. Fr. Frank Pavone, the director of Priests for Life, said that Dr. King’s statement “reveals with clarity that at the basis of every human right is the right to life itself.”

Good for her,  speaking out like that.

May God continue to bless her in her zeal for babies everywhere.

I hope this message gets through to some people. If Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. were alive today I think he'd be a Republican. One of the conservative ones like Alan Keys who is not happy with the  liberal shifting of the party and wanting it to return to it's conservative base.

Know how the electoral college works.

A vote for a pro-lifer is a vote for the democratic nominee, aka Hillary.

How is that? If I vote for Fred Thompson or Mitt Romney, how in the world is that a vote for a Democrat? It's not.

I agree. You don't have to worry about Guliani being the nominee. It will be Fred Thompson or Mitt Romney.

Romney is a problem...he is unelectable against hillary or obama.....the polls say head to head with hill he is 40-48%....and with obama just about as bad .. was in the new issue of newsmax magazine..a conservative news/political rag that is good... also newsmax.com...is a great political website

The pro-life cause is in the process of being adopted into liberal protection. It is a disruptive but inevitable shift in politics that has been predicted in many scholarly articles for at least ten years.

Collective and statistical evidence overwhelmingly credits a positive impact on the economy, education system and lower crime to access to abortion. That is why republicans are tending ever more to lean pro-choice.

I have several relatives who work in Housing and Urban Development who are pro-choice republicans.

Pro-life arguments are not harmonious with the republican world view.

Many of us who call ourselves conservatives politically are not happy with the Republican party.

Dr. Alveda King Salutes SCLC Upon its 50th Anniversary, Prays for End to Violence Against Tiniest Americans

ATLANTA, Aug. 3 /Christian Newswire/ -- Dr. Alveda King, Pastoral Associate of Priests for Life and niece of the Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr., today paid tribute to the Southern Christian Leadership Conference, which is holding its 50th Annual Convention this weekend in Atlanta.

"My Uncle Martin had a dream that one day America would live out the creed that all men are created equal," said Dr. King. "Thanks to the SCLC's 50 years of peaceful, purposeful work, that dream is closer than ever to reality. I am humbled to be a part of an organization that has struggled mightily for equality and respect for all Americans.

"As we celebrate the SCLC's golden anniversary, though, I'm reminded that an entire class of people, a class that is disproportionately African American, still suffers violence in our country," added Dr. King. "It was the violence afflicted on school children in the South that moved a nation to strive for justice for all. I pray that one day soon, the violence against our tiniest, most helpless children, those yet unborn, will also end and we will lovingly welcome all Americans into our beloved community."

Priests for Life is the nation's largest Catholic pro- life organization dedicated to ending abortion and euthanasia. For more information, visit www.priestsforlife.org.

Hopefully Fred Thompson, because Mitt Romney waffles on abortion when it is politically expedient.  He is not truly pro-life.

That is the power of a black woman!

So if Elizabeth Dole says something I like, is it cool for me to say, "That is the power of a white woman!" ?
