Here's something else that struck me:

"Soldiers reported that the gunman shouted "Allahu Akbar!" — an Arabic phrase for "God is great!" — before opening fire Thursday, said Lt. Gen. Robert Cone, the post commander. He said officials had not confirmed Hasan made the comment."

Every time I hear this part of the story I always hear is translated as "Allah is great!".

I knew he was a Muslim no matter the spin on it. Just like in Arkansas, two soldiers shot, by a Muslim, did we hear about it much? No. The other thing my husband a Military Officer, you do not make fun of a superior officer, no matter what.

Well, unless he's the Commander in Chief, right?

Well KMV, soldiers would not make fun of him to his face either. Maybe behind his back, but not to his face.

Soldiers making fun of the commander in chief fits in with your idea of military honor - as long as it's behind his back?

Hmm.

Thanks Mac, That was what I was going to post. BTW KMV, I am not in the military, I do not make fun of him as a person, I hate his evil policies, and I did not say my husband made fun of anybody, I do get around others, and they believe he does not care for them, not even caring if he sends troops to Afghanistan. justify that, and please as you ususally do, please quit twisting things people say. I know you do not want to do that being a Christaian woman. maybe it is not on poorpose, giving you the benefit of the doubt. Thinking the best of you as Christian sisters should do.

Then what on earth did you mean by 'maybe behind his back'?

KMV,

"Behind his back" was probably a poor choice of words as the expression can mean different things to the reader then it does to the writer.

Articles 88 and 89 prohibit service members from speaking out against superior officers and elected officials.  However this must be done in a public fashion so that the superior officer or elected official hear it...ie a press conference or public affairs role.

For example if I give an interview in uniform and rail against the president, I am guilty of violating article 88.  However if I am just yacking with friends and complaining about policies, that is ok.

Does that make sense?

In Christ,
