Obama claims, "we will make sure that we get answers to every single question."

I hope he livesup to that and truly answers every question.

I was watching Fox News, yesterday, when the tragic Ft. Hood shootings happened. Everything  was stopped as the president stepped on stage to give a press conference. His attitude was jovial, laughing, mentioning some crow Indian that was there in the pressroom, health care, and two minutes into the press conference he mentions Fort Hood, massacre, kind of like in passing. This man is crazy, nuts, and if you think he cares about anyone, or anything but power, your there with him. I am sorry to be harsh, but the man is a idiot.

I saw it live.

What else do we expect?  Really.  The man is simply clueless.  He is going to fight tooth-and-toenail to keep this from being called an act of terrorism.  Even the Murrah bombing by McVeigh was an act of terrorism.  Obama is clueless.

I saw it live also, and sit here with my mouth open. There is a snake in the whitehouse.

Fox makes it look like its intended to be a national address specifically for the shooting with their screen title. He wasn't giving a press conference or a national address about the shooting. He was in the middle of some meeting--apparently with native American groups about some particular issue. So he thanks the people at the meeting since that is why he is there but then before going on to the actual business of the meeting he says what he knows about the shooting. There is nothing out of ordinary with that video except for the way that fox is choosing to present it and the comments and title of the person who posted it on youtube.

That's a big negative on that. He (Obama) told people he would address the situation at the beginning of the conference.

"After news broke out of the shooting at the Fort Hood Army post in Texas, the nation watched in horror as the toll of dead and injured climbed. The White House was notified immediately and by late afternoon, word went out that the president would speak about the incident prior to a previously scheduled appearance. At about 5 p.m., cable stations went to the president. The situation called for not only his trademark eloquence, but also grace and perspective."

log, come on, admit he is lacking, and be done with it. He did not condemn the two young men shot in Arkansas, by another Muslim a few months back, but he was outraged about Tiller the Baby Killer, and his death. I think it took him two days to address that one. I figure, he is sending the message, kind of passive aggressively he approves of this, or at least does not get two figs about act of terror by cowardly Muslims, and I stand by what I say, or I would not say it! It makes me want to toss my cookies when people defend this man, and his actions. Where has good sense, good character gone?

Changes what? There was a Muslim US soldier who committed a pre-meditated attack on a US base and killed over a dozen people. Beyond that basic set of facts, why does it matter whether or not the act is described as a "terrorist attack"? Terrorism is a tricky thing to define and even though Islam clearly played a role in his motives, without fully understanding the guy's reasoning and psychology (which we probably soon will) we can't yet know whether this was an assault based on purely ideological and political principles/goals or was the guy insane? For example, did the stress of deployment and his surroundings cause him to go into a state of psychosis in which his Islamic identity became a central feature of some abnormal delusion? Probably not, but that sort of scenario can be a good reason for why to wait and allow the perpetrator's reasoning to come to light.

My quiet and mild-mannered little brother who was in his 20s and in college suddenly went into a state of psychosis a couple years ago. Psychosis is like your brain having a fever--something is wrong up there and causes the person to temporarily lose sight of reality. They are "crazy." Many people in a state of psychosis experience it through the elements of their religious upbringing. By brother experienced it in terms of Christianity. He saw visions in certain fiction books and felt that he had to burn them in the fireplace. When holding a match up to the book cover didn't instantly cause the book to burst into flames he felt that the book was cursed and Satan was preventing the book from being burned. You could talk to him normally and he could still function, but he wasn't right and he couldn't reason normally. Later he took off his clothes in the middle of the night and ran through the neighborhood naked at 2 AM and it was -10F outside and if my parents handn't of realized it he would have died out there. They had to call the cops and while in the back of the squad car he punched the screen and bloodied his hand. Later on after he got treatment he barely remembered any of it. Anyway, I doubt this Muslim guy has such an elaborate excuse and from all the facts I see now he is a murderer. But I can imagine a scenario where a person who already has certain political views questioning the war along with Islamic religious views could have some pre-deployment stress-induced pyschosis that could cause them to lose their normal sense of reality and kill a bunch of people as part of a delusion. A lot of bizarre violence happens this way. In a nearby town there was a college kid who snapped and went and shot his HS football coach for no apparent reason and barely even remember doing it and had no motive for doing so.

I think the real reason for not emphasizing the guy's religion is because the news is already doing a fine job of that and although most anti-US terrorists are Muslim most Muslims are not terrorists so given the fact that Muslims are a vulnerable minority in the US there is a real threat of reprisal vendetta killings against Muslims and the president should do whatever possible to keep the country calm and level-headed.
