I know marc will think I am crazy and will likely say as much, but that being said...

Does anyone else think something fishy is going on with Obama's state of emergency declaration?  Is anybody else concerned?

We know for a fact H1N1 is less severe than the regular flu and we also know for a fact that there are no more total flu cases now then in previous years...so why the state of emergency?

In Christ,

I think 1/4 of my students were out with the flu last week, and we're far from the worst.  40 states are in the widespread category now, and all but two, iirc, are seriously affected. And--here's the clincher--we haven't even got into regular flu season yet.  On top of this, we're in for one rough winter.

As someone who sees it firsthand, it sure seems like an emergency.

I think it is just being proactive, even if it might amount to less than the common flu.

I think also that politicians with a vested interest in bureaucracy and socialized medicine are not going to slow in trying to implement measures which will give the government a deeper role in people's lives.

I'm biased, but Calvin Coolidge and Benjamin Harrison were probably among the best Presidents.

John 3.16 contains great theology, without doubt.

If folks feel they must have TATTOOS, have you considered having faith related designs tattooed?

(And try vacationing in the South: plenty of sun, and some great churches down there!)

According to Archie and Edith, we need a man like Hoover again.

Actually, Coolidge didn't think all that much of his Commerce Secretary, Hoover. He inherited him from Warren Harding's cabinet, and didn't like to fire him.

Declaring an emergency is going to cause more undo panic and cause some people to freak out.  Why declare an emergency?

I keep my focus on God and trust in Him and will not let these words put fear and panie into me.

..but it makes sense politically, because people can thus be conditioned to accepting more government infuence.

Yes.  All about instilling fear for the control factor.

K- Pappy Marc thinks your crazy too??? (LOL) just joshing Marc, think of me as the little sister, you would have drowned at birth. There is much swine Flu, I will not deny that, but to declare it as a State of Emergency seems a little extreme. What are we supposed to do with Obamas declaration. Run out and buy mask, screaming in hysteria? The man is so strange. Whoowe! I am shaking as I type, I am so terrified of the pig flu.
