I agree that the Republican party is in trouble, but I'd hardly say that it is dead. All the GOP needs is a great communicator (i.e, a Reagan type) to step up to the plate. I personally believe that the democrats will screw up this country even more than it is and the moderates that flocked to the dems in the past election will turn back to the GOP. Yes, I have a dream.

The Republican party certainly needs some sackcloth and ashes time, though, to reflect upon it's cruel and vile liberal ways and to embrace true repentence.

All of D.C. (and beyond) could use a good dose of that.

Yep.  A fence along the southern border and one around DC.

I think you'll appreciate this.

An older fella 80 years old (along with his wife and children) in my church family are truly yellow-dawg-democrats. Yesterday I got an email fwd. from him via his daughter that read:

Quote
PETITION  for President Bush:

Dear Mr President:
We, the  undersigned, protest the bill that the Senate voted on recently which would allow illegal aliens to access our Social Security.   We demand that you and all Congressional representatives require citizenship as a pre-requisite for social services in the United  States . We further demand that there  not be any amnesty given to illegals, NO free services, no Funding, no payments to and for illegal immigrants. We are  fed up with the lack of action about this matter and are tired of paying for services to illegals.

Now, just what did they think Obama supported??  Scratching head....a little confused.

Ron Paul will be our Moses to lead us out of Egypt. We need true conservatives. Bush tried to make nice with the media and liberals by being a liberal in terms of expanding the size of government. There's no compromise or befriending those folks. When Republicans reach across the isle they get they hand chopped off. Democrats are smart enough not to reach across the isle, but to tell the public they do. McCain vs. Obama was a prime example. McCain, to a fault, had reached across the isle. Obama is as hard left and partisan as they come yet painted himself as bi-partisan. Sad but true.

Ron Paul will tell Pharaoh, "Let my people go!"

Wouldn't Ron Paul be a little too old for President in 2012?  Not to bring up the age thing like with McCain, but he is like 72, 73 now.   I agree we do not need bi-partisan Republicans, I'd like a true, principle-Republican that is conservative that can run for office in 2012.  I also do not think the Republicans are destroyed for generations and it will be a liberal ruling for many years.  We just need to regroup.

It took a Jimmy Carter to bring forth a Ronald Reagan.  Perhaps when the house loans are at 16% and unemployment is 12%  under Obama another RR type will come forth.  Mabe she already has.

Newt knows exactly who should be in the White House in 2012, and he is wearing his shoes.

The problem is that he is good at coming up with new ideas, but not all of them are practical, nor especially conservative. Frowning

For example, he has gain a lot of newspace by coming up with a grand scheme for the GOP which includes promoting offshore drilling.  But also in the package is giving a megabucks to any geeks that come up with a super efficient automobile.

The problem with the latter is that I have seen such government grants in action, and the results ain't pretty.  The concept car developed will undoubtedly be too expensive, too unsafe, too small/uncomfortable, or so intricate it will take a team of engineers to build and/or maintain, or, more likely, all of the above. Doh!

Otherwise, as so many RINOs keep forgetting, if the concept was commercially viable, it would have already been sold to a major manufacturer, where a million bucks in royalties would be chump-change...it's called "Capitalism." I agree

I don't know if the Republican party died this year;  it had gone through several spells of "me-too-itis" in my lifetime, and maybe a couple of truly terrible terms will snap them out of it...or maybe not.  Until it does, or a truly conservative national party springs up, I will continue to pick and chose from all parties.

My near term problem is deciding whether to vote in our Senatorial runoff next month.  Pondering Since the Libertarian spoiler has left the arena, we are down to the incumbent incompetent, Saxby Chambliss (R-GA), and a Democratic hopeful.  I will probably go for the Republican because there is no need to help the Dems get their super majority.  All the RINOs already there will help them enough with any heavy lifting. I don't know, what do you think?
