My girlfriend has Conversion Syndrome
« on: Wed Jan 11, 2012 - 09:01:19 »
Ever since college, my girlfriend has been having random, seizure-like activities which consists of her thrashing around on the floor for so many minutes.  She told me her first one lasted 4 hours!  Realize that I only met her about a month ago and she's not officially my girlfriend.  A couple days ago I witnessed one of these attacks when I was with her and a bunch of friends.  Along with the thrashing on the floor, she screams her head off.  Needless to say, I don't intend on making her mad ANYTIME soon  rofl

The day after her attack that I witnessed, she had another one in class.  Her parents came and got her and drove her to a hospital in St. Louis.  The next day she told me that the doctors diagnosed her with Conversion Syndrome, gave her some more meds, and pretty much told her good luck.  She's been using these meds ever since her 2nd attack and all they do is reduce the effects, but her attacks are getting worse and more frequent every time.

I know this seems highly unlikely, but do you think there is some spiritual warfare going on here?  When I saw her thrashing on the floor and screaming, the first word that came in my mind was exorcism (and that isn't likely at all considering she is a Christian at a Christian college).  Have any of you had to deal with this?  Is there a way to "cure" it?

Please pray for her.  She has an amazing personality and I like her a lot.  She's a very strong woman of God and I know she can get through this with the help of Christ.

There is much information available concerning seizures on the web; the link below is just one of them.

Brain tumors are a significant cause of seizures in adults and older people. Cerebrovascular events—such as stroke—are a common cause of new seizures.

Dear Father, please heal this young woman of any and all cause of the seizures she is experiencing. Thank You Father, and I ask this in Jesus' name. Amen.

I have some very good news!  She just texted me about fifteen minutes ago and during her check up at the doctor, they diagnosed her with Paroxysmal Non-kinesigenic Dyskinesia - http://www.medscape.com/viewarticle/581684_4

It fits her symptoms and attacks so accurately and the good news?  It can actually be treated!!!  :D  I'm so excited and she's even more so than me!  This just made my day!  Thank you johntwayne and larry2 and others who have prayed so much!  I am hard pressed to believe that this wouldn't happen without your prayers!

I googled your girlfriend's new diagnosis, and it says the condition is hereditary. Does she know if anyone in her family has it?

My daughters do not not have that specific condition, but I just want to say that we have used "alternative healthcare", even advanced levels, to deal with chronic illness, grief, trauma, neurological & brain issues, etc.   Of course these treatments and therapies are out-of-pocket expenses, but they fix  complex problems naturally without medication & medication side effects.   I am so grateful to God for the "miracles" we have experienced, and I pray that your girlfriend will also be healed!  I praise God for the "good work" He is doing in her now and will do!!

She did say her dad has a lot of medical problems, but she does as well.  I also recall her aunt or somebody else in her family having similar seizures, so you could be very right.  Thanks again for the prayers and support!
