I don't understand God... I am a Christian (or thought I was) for ten or more years, tithe on everything I bring in, and try to obey God and share Him with others...
Two years ago I was downsized by my company, I have lost everything and am left with a house I can no longer afford, that won't sell because of the housing market... have gone thru my retirement money... my friends AND family have all left and distanced themselves from me because of my situation... I think they are afraid I might ask them for $...  I was able to find a job but bring home less than I did on unemployment... and I work with a shift of the nastiest people I have ever had the displeasure of meeting...  I am so stressed out that I am buying Kleenix by the case!! all I do is cry day and night...
I don't understand why God is allowing all of this to happen to me!!  two years is a long time to suffer like this... I have asked Him to reveal to me unconfessed sin, something He wants me to do over? I have apologized to everyone I know and a few total strangers, trying to make things right...
The closer I try to get to Him, the more bad things happen to me... so I am starting to think I need to walk away for awhile... I don't know what else to do...
Why doesn't He help me?  Where is His mercy? His love? His forgiveness?

Dear psalmgirl, you plight breaks my heart and I can ony think you were becoming very close to the Lord for these things to come to you. Take the following things the Apostle Paul experienced. Where was the Lord at that time for Paul; working in his life for things eternal rewards.

1 Corinthians 11:23-30
23  Are they ministers of Christ? (I speak as a fool) I am more; in labours more abundant, in stripes above measure, in prisons more frequent, in deaths oft.
24  Of the Jews five times received I forty stripes save one.
25  Thrice was I beaten with rods, once was I stoned, thrice I suffered shipwreck, a night and a day I have been in the deep;
26  In journeyings often, in perils of waters, in perils of robbers, in perils by mine own countrymen, in perils by the heathen, in perils in the city, in perils in the wilderness, in perils in the sea, in perils among false brethren;
27  In weariness and painfulness, in watchings often, in hunger and thirst, in fastings often, in cold and nakedness.
28  Beside those things that are without, that which cometh upon me daily, the care of all the churches.
29  Who is weak, and I am not weak? who is offended, and I burn not?
30  If I must needs glory, I will glory of the things which concern mine infirmities.

I wrote the follow "Christian Sufferings" to explain these things if you're interested. God bless you in Jesus' name.

Dear Father, I know that You never do anything to us that is not for our good. Please show paslmgirl Your intention for her life and the love You have for her. Help her in her finances, heal her tears, and give her the peace that she is doing Your will in Jesus' name. Thank You Father. Amen.

I love the Psalms
Sounds like your feeling down and out sorta like Job did.

satan doesnt need to mess with unbelievers, does he--because  He allready has them.

did you ever read the psalm Jesus Cried  from the cross that told about his trials and tribulations all done  for us?
Psalm 22

Gods blessings psalm's  girl.

Sweetie,
None of us understands God and I guess it is supposed to be that way for now. Being a Christian is not a guarantee that we will be immune from external pressures such as you are going through.

Even though you can't feel Him God is there with you at this moment. I know it's hard but could you try each day to find some thing no matter how small in your eyes to thank Him for. I have found that is the best place to start.

Father, I pray for the encouragement and love of the Comforter to touch our sister. I pray against a work that would try to impoverish so I pray for your healing and restorative power to enter this situation, that you would undertake for Psalmgirl in every way to bring peace and the joy of the Lord into her life.

We praise you for who you are and that you Lord are God who finds nothing impossible. In Jesus name.

Even though you are going through this dry spell, He hasn't left you.  However satan may want you to think that God doesn't care.  Don't listen to that negative voice.  I don't think you have done anything wrong or not enough.  This trial could be that God is seasoning you to trust in Him through all things.   Don't give up, I believe God answers all prayers in His way and in His time.   I know that may sound easy but understand how hard it must be for you, the one who is actually going through it

Heavenly Father, may this one not allow blame or guilt to enter, but concentrate on the one thing You want of us, our faith.  LORD, You know of the despair and discouragment and loneliness this one faces.  I pray that You will grant strength and patience, renew hope, change the circumstances and bring blessings and return all that has been lost, In Jesus Name, Amen

I am so touched by everyones responses and prayers... thank you for your time and for praying such beautiful prayers for me... I know I need to get to the place where I can accept that God is in control and doesn't owe me anything, just not sure how to get there...  I read His Word everyday about how faithful and loving He is...  and I truly understand trials are needed,  but when it is in every area of your life without letting up, and for so long a time, it is so overwhelming that I find it hard to have the Godly response He is looking for, because I feel so beaten down...  I feel like I have lost my salvation and have already gone to hell... I have no hope or anything to look forward to but more hardship... I know this is the wrong attitude, but see no hope for me...

Perhaps it's time to get some financial advice. It's all well and good to pray but God opens doors when He sees us move on in faith.

I pray that you and He will work this out together

Psalmgirl- watch what you speak over yourself.  Those things which you say come to pass (Mk. 11:23) and that works in the negative and in the positive.  Start thanking God for His provision, and thank Him that things are as good as they are.  (You could be on the street!)  As you start giving praise and glory to God for His power working in your life, things will begin to change because You will be honoring Him and building your faith in His promises to take care of you.

Father, I pray for psalmgirl, for Your love and peace to overwhelm her.  Give her wisdom to hear your voice and be directed by Your Spirit.  I thank You Lord that she is in Your hands and You will not let her go.  No weapon formed against her shall prosper for she is more than a conqueror through Him who loves her.  Thank You Lord for the victory that is coming into her life, and the testimony that will come out of it.  In Jesus' Name, amen.

Thank you!  that is great advice and I will start that immediately... I am truly thankful for what I do have, which is one of the reasons I am upset about losing it... but what upsets me most is I doubt His love when I know better... I get so overwhelmed with all the bad that is happening, that I lose site of the good...  I can't imagine how John the Baptist felt when he sent a messenger to Jesus when in prision and Jesus' reply was that what He was doing was more important, thus he was beheaded... while Jesus was right in what He said, it must have been extremely difficult for John the Baptist in those last days...

I agree with the others, choose your words wisely, choose life, choose God, you have nothing to lose, and everything to gain.  Better with Him than without Him.

Heavenly Father, this woman needs Your reassurance.  Draw her close and grant her patience and peace and answered prayer, In Jesus Name, Amen

Remember Job, and also Joseph, who was sold by his own family into slavery, but he waited 13 years and ended up becoming a great man in Pharaoh's house.
Jeremiah 29:11
"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."
Our faith in Christ truly shows when we persevere in the face of persecution or temptation. When you cannot see God's hand, trust in His heart - He *does* care!!

May your situation improve <3
