Praying hard Hi I'm new on here and me and my family are deeply hurting emotionally  because our dog who is like family to us is sick. He can't walk and the vet said it may possibly be an spinal infection or even worst bone cancer. He is only 5 yrs old which is fairly young for a dog. My mom who passed on to be with the lord helped pick him out a couple months before she passed on. We love him very much and don't want to lose him and would appreciate others to also pray for his health to get better and for him to walk again. This is my sister's only dog and she loves him like her child.  The dog's name is Ray Ray. Please pray for Ray Ray and God's guidance with his health. We are believing God for him to answer our prayer please believe and pray for Ray Ray and us. Thanks and God Bless all of you

Dear Father, please comfort this family during this difficult time. Give them peace and strength, and if it is your will, show mercy to their dog and grace him with your healing hands.  Please Lord, do not let this dear animal suffer. Thank you, Father.  In Jesus's name, Amen.

Dear Father. I ask You for healing of this loved pet named Ray Ray. Please restore it to the family with health as a member of the family. You gave him to them, and You realize the hurt they are feeling for him. Please give them this gift of life to their pet at this time if it be Your will in Jesus' sweet name. Thank You Father. Amen.

I read a story about Jesus once -- fiction, of course, but the author did a real nice job of writing about what it might have been like for Him, growing up.  How He, oddly, unusually, took pity on a little stray dog, saved it from being killed by some bad boys who were throwing rocks at it.

Remember, for a Jew in the time and place where our Lord grew up, a dog was a terribly unclean beast, a carrion-eater, a picker of scraps, a scrounger among the burning dung heaps outside of town.  Nasty, filthy, diseased -- maybe in reality, maybe only in the eye of the observer, but, well... There was probably no such thing as a pet dog for those people.

But that author imagined the Lord loving and pitying that little puppy, so convincingly, as well as the perfect love and adoration that little pariah dog displayed toward the Lord.  If I can look her up, and the title of her book, I will post it here.  It might be a comfort to read it.

It is entirely in Jesus' character to appreciate the love and loyalty of a good dog.

God bless Ray Ray.

Found it -- it was Marjorie Holmes.  She wrote several books, but I believe the ones I remember are Two From Galilee, Three From Galilee, and The Messiah.
