The Lake of Fire

(plese note this is a different OP from The Church of God Anderson, Indiana;  this is just me.........)

I was thinking the other day how some do not believe there will be an actual lake of fire and it occured to me (now I may be wrong here, but) that isn't the center of the Earth a lake of fire?  At it's core, isn't there a lake of molten lava or such?  If so, then could this possibly be the lake of fire referred to?

I am not sure, however, I know that it was never intended for us....but only for the devil and his angels.

doesn't the scriptures say that Jesus descended into the depths of the earth?  seems I remember that......but I could be wrong.

Yes, Jesus descended into Sheol, the grave, the place of the dead.

We are not told where the Lake of Fire is, but it exists and is a place of everlasting condemnation and punishment.  According to the Word no one is presently there, and the Political Beast and the False Prophet will be the first ones cast in there;  then later Satan will be cast in forever.  After the Great White Throne judgment, all the souls presently in Hades (Sheol) will be sent there forever.  That is about all we know from the Bible about it.

Some Bible students suggest that the subject is symbolic and "Lake" means a place of confinement,  rather than what we think of as a lake.  The "Fire" always means judgment in Scripture, and so the thought is suggested that it is a confined place of everlasting punishment in degrees for different kinds of wickedness in life.  I know of no scripture to support this, but it kind of sounds plausible at least.

Thanks for the various comments guys..............I know and understand that this world will pass away, and a new heaven and new earth will be stablished as it says in the Scriptures.  Hmmmmm, doesn't it say this world will be consumed by fire?
