Short Term Mission To Bangkok Thailand
« on: Tue May 26, 2009 - 00:51:14 »
Hi
This is an invitation to anyone looking for or considering a short term mission or outreach. My church is the Siam Bangkok Church in the heart of Bangkok. Within a 5 km radius we have over 1 million young people under  25 years of age. We need people to come and teach converstaional English and witness to the young Thai people. All the materials are prepared, iall you need to do is to speak everyday English, you do not need to be a trained teacher, just a native english speaker. Many young Thails want to learn to speak or improve their English and it is a great way to meet and share you love of Jesus with them. We can provide accomodation (at a very very inexpensive cost) It is a great opportunity to see another culture and be part of what God is doing in this amazing city. Any questions or queries please email me madsen.paul@gmail.com or call (66) 86 987 5397
We would love to have you

Hi
Actually very very inexpensive is free, if you stay at the church then there is no charge, it is up to you if you wish to make a donation for your use of electricity and water.

Hi
Thank you, yes it is, very simple and easy but effective way to reach the Thai people. There is a real sense of God at work here, Thailand like so many places is a place undergoing significant social change and the old structures are in many cases breaking down. It has been a country that has been very resistant to Christianity, and even now there can be a huge social cost for people who become christians, many families will not accept someone who becomes a christian, there is a real sense that to be Thai is to be Bhuddist. In a society where family is the most important thing, that can be very very difficult. But there is a real hunger amongst young people. God is shaking this nation to its core, i is an exciting time to be here. so come and have a look and see what is happening, we would love to have you

From all that I have heard...

Thailand is a very pleasant country to visit where the people are very hospitable.

Granted...drink only the bottled water...and be careful about where you use the tap water to wash (eyes and noses are suseptable to bacteria) But overall...very very nice place to go.

300 bot for a pretty umbrella is a good price. And they have all kinds of exotic foods.

And if you like jewelry...it is a "must go"

Hi, maddy62!

I ordinarily would pull out any links in a new member's posts.  But since that is to email you -- and the same email access is available to anyone looking at your profile -- I am glad to let it ride.

Programs such as the one you describe can be a great way to reach out to people and let them have a chance to see what average Christians really believe and why.  It can be a very good experience, for both the "teacher" and the "student".

Of course anyone wanting to go into any mission type situation should gather all possible information about the situation before jumping on a plane!
