I've never been to Illinois Central College.

taller, better looking and smarter . . .

They turned me loose from the nervous hospital.  Said I was well.  Mmm hmm.

Suffering for your beliefs is called faithfulness, making others suffer for your beliefs is called being a jerk.

His cross, like the ark in the wilderness, is the center around which his people are to encamp; so that they cannot separate into factions, or withdraw from each other, without retiring at the same time from the presence of the cross.

I assume you are referring to the independent Christian Church.  If so the are another split from the Christian Church. (1957)  They are similar to the CoC in doctrine except for IM.  Depending on the congregation they run from fairly Conservative to moderate . (compared to CoC)

I took the original post to mean International Churches of Christ (Boston Movement.)  Any clarification?

Usually...

ICC = Independent Christian Church
ICOC = International Church of Christ

I attended the ICC for awhile.  The IM didn't bother me.  The increased presence of women in roles of "leadership" wasn't all that uncomfortable.  (song leading and so forth (in charge of music ministry), some prayers, etc.)  No women elders.  They did embrace some fellowship and ministry events that were publically and orally opposed to core beliefs (Immersion not necessary, etc)  This lead to some confusion and small group leaders that did not share some of these core beliefs.   Sometimes the desire for "unity" and inclusiveness, breaking down barriers, demonstrating we are one by our love, etc.  leads to a dilution of sorts.

1)  IM - No where in scripture was it treated as unauthorized and a theological stand is invented in their opposition, forcing the reader to read into the text what is not there.
2)  The infamous "women silent" "submission" "not to teach or have authority over men" and so forth scriptures do say what they say and have to explained as to not mean what the person is reading, forcing the reader to read out of the text what is there.
3) I suspect that there are other issues - elder/"pastor" relationship  (not called an "evangelist" or "preacher" in the same way coc does.   (There may be an ordination procedure???)     Probably other differences.
