I am in nursing school, and we are doing a "diversity" project - namely, each group is tackling a different culture/religion/ethnic background that might have a different approach to healthcare than what you would expect. I've been assigned a series of questions and am hoping that some of you might shed some light on them for me.
1. Do SDAs have any particular beliefs about childbirth? (Example, what forms of pain control are acceptable, is there a preference as to where birth takes place, what forms of birth control are allowable, etc.)
2. Is there a unique philosophy about raising children that might be different than the "typical" American ideals?
3. Are childhood immunizations encouraged?
If you have links to resources, I would appreciate that also. I was able to find plenty of information about nutritional habits, but not much about these three topics. If SDAs don't have specific teachings regarding these things, or if it's up to each individual, that's fine - I just need to know one way or another. :)
Thank you in advance for your help.
