It didn't.  The Sabbath is still the 7th day of the week.  We just go to church on Sunday, which lets us rest on Saturday, which was the whole point of the day to start with.
Interesting, considering the fact the Jesus Christ told Christians to follow HIS example.
1 Peter  2:21   For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps:

So...to those who attend Sunday worship services Jesus asks the question:

6:46   And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say ?

Us Lord's Day Adventists are also a "legitimate group of honest-to-God Christians who are doing their best according to the truth as they see it."
QUESTION: How can anyone be honest about doing something Jesus Christ never authorized doing ?

15:9   But in vain they do worship me, teaching [for] doctrines the commandments of men.

Sunday worship services is a man-made idea....as Jesus Christ NEVER mentioned to anyone, to do such a thing as that.

were above the laws of God since Jesus finished them perfectly for our sake -------------your religion teachers your not  .
so these Laws you try to live out  will kill you!

Why not instead trust that Jesus who is God  already has completed them perfectly for you to .

then you wont be told by some law abuser  what your sabbath day must be.

An Analysis of Adventist Arguments for a Seventh Day Sabbath

http://www.wlsessays.net/node/1233

Ex cathedra,  I do not know where YOU get your instructions from, but it appears that you have rejected the commandments of God Himself by rejecting the sabbath day.  You know full well that the commandments of God were/are meant for all nations, as this is written in the bible in black and white.  So pretending you do not know is unnecessarily sinful.

However, if you have decided to turn your back on God's law, for your own selfish reasons, do not forget that you are turning your back on all the other nine a commandments as well. Oh you're not?  Why not?    After all, the other nine commandments were given to the Jews as well, so you said.  So you cannot have your cake and eat it – or take your pick out of which laws you observe and which ones you do not fancy!

In all your complacency,  ex cathedra, remember Jesus stated of God's return "... pray that He does  not return on the sabbath day...".  I suppose you will choose to ignore this as unimportant.  If the sabbath day was  and is not important to God, why make this statementt?  Or do you think that God's return is only meant for Jews?  Oh yes, He will return only to judge the Jews …., not YOU!

All I can say is that anyone who cannot , or chooses not to, recognise that Saturday the seventh day of the week, is the sabbath of the Lord, God, Jesus, the Almighty, or whatever name you want to call God - you are in BIG TROUBLE, and you should seek to sort out your self-imposed confusion as a matter of urgency - NO EXCUSES!!!

If anyone really and truly wants to observe the Sabbath day, you should seek the truth about which day it is – not seek excuses.

Good point Wycliffes.  God did say to "stay within thine dwellings" on the sabbath day. So if we are running around going to church and doing any nuber of good deeds on the sabbath day, then we are not really resting, are we?  This will make no sense of the sabath day.

So yes, go to church on Sunday or whatever other syou wish but rest on the seventh day, Saturday.

With this in mind, take note that the Seventh Day Adventists who are going out of their dwellings on the sabbath day are not observing the sabbath day properly either... !

Does it matter one little bit. do you think God should care over such a small matter. I set everyday as a day of worship, why should we give one day to God and keep the rest to ourselves, should not all our days be given to Him, should He not be foremost in all that we do, He deserves no less than all of us.

in His love

mjrhealth, it does matter.  Wake up!  Read my posts above.

You would be resting from your secular work.  As for the number of good deeds you'd most likely be doing on the Sabbath these can be counted on one hand with finger left over.  After all, what are the odds of you having to loose your ox or your ass from the stall, and lead him away to watering?

Says who?  Kind of hard to go to church without leaving the house.  They left the house to go to the synagogue in Christ's time and you didn't see anyone claiming that they weren't good Jews for going.

It has been stated on here ... and correctly i might add ... that the Sabbath has never changed... it is still sunset friday to sunset saturday.

It has been suggested that the early church kept sunday... but a close reading of acts does not support this.

there are only 7 verses that refer to the first day ... 4 of them to do with the resurrection of Jesus.  A closer look at these four verses shows clearly that the beleivers were not gathered to celebrate the resurrection ... in fact the verses show clearly that they DIDNT believe.  In fact they were hiding ... for fear of the Jews ...

and here is another point... they were gathered together on sunday evening ... which to them would be the start of the second day ...

and there is another reason they were gathered together ... other than in obedience to the command of Jesus that they were to tarry in Jerusalem ... they were obliged under Jewish Law to be in Jerusalem ... for the duration of the week long celebration of the Feast of Unleavened Bread.

there are 2 other verses connected with Pauls second collection for Jerusalem...  which happened about 25 or so years after the resurrection.

one verse in his letter to the corrinthians ... a copy of which was also sent to the galatians... giving instruction that the believers should set aside their offering on the first day...

Now here is an interesting perspective ... this was a church that was raised up by Paul ... in fact he spent somewhere near 2 years there ... and Pauls letter regarding the collection was about another 3 or so years after this.

If setting aside an amount of money on the first day was something that was a foundational teaching .... how come Paul has to give this instruction in this letter... It can only be because this was a specific instruction for a special event ... the offering for Jerusalem.

another verse in Acts in relation to this colllection for Jerusalem is when Paul is on his way to Jerusalem with the collection.

the meeting takes place on the eveining of the first day ...  which means the meeting was started on Saturday night.  paul preached all night ... and then he left in the morning by boat... which means he left on sunday morning by boat to continue his trip.

This is not a meeting of the faithful for a regular church meeting on Sunday ... it is a farewell meeting for THE Leading Apostle whom they may never see again ...because of the prophesies of capture and death that had been spoken over paul.

Indeed... the main reason for the inclusion of this meeting in the Word seems more to do with Paul raising from the dead the youth who had falled asleep then fell out the window...

When taking all things into consideration regarding the early church... it must be remembered ... that for the first 3 to maybe 10 years .... the early church was made up of believeing Jews only...

during this time there were NO gentiles... there was likely the Letter of James... which was written for a Jewish congretion... and there was also likely the Gospel of Mathew... also written for a Jewish congregation.

So lets have another look at the EARLY church...  they had a Jewish Saviour... they kept the Law ...  they worshipped on the Sabbath... they had a Jewish Gospel and epistle.

When the Gentiles began to come into the church ... the argument by the Jewish believers was that they had to become fully Jewish .... just like they were.  And this by definition would include an expectation to keep the Sabbath.

Paul ... who was the Apostle to the Gentiles... during his mission trips ... is recorded as going to the synogogues on the Sabbath ... to preach to the Jews ... then is shown on a few occasions as preaching to the Gentiles on the following Sabbaths... as was his custom.

Paul is nowhere recorded as preaching on the first day ... and very importantly ... no where does Paul instruct the Gentile believers to worship on the first day.

It can be said that the early church gathered together every day to break bread and during the time of the church only being in Jerusalem ... before the dispurtion from because of perscution... they gathered every day in the temple...  However ... evidence shows that their HOLY DAY was the SABBATH... not the first day.

djconklin  - God said, as below.  Well, at the time that God said that, He obviously must have considered that it would not be possible to go out of house to do good deeds or worship Him, if He ordered us to "stay in our place".   But then that is for God to work out, not us.  ...  and God's words has not changed, even after Jesus came and went ...  yes it LOOKS as if it has, but in truth, it has not:

Exodus 16:28
“And the LORD said unto Moses, ‘How long do you refuse to keep my commandments and my laws?
Exodus 16:29
See, for that the LORD has given you the sabbath, therefore He gives you on the sixth day bread of two days; let every man remain in his place, let no man go out of his place on the seventh day'".

Now, I have shown you where God told us to stay  in our place on the seventh day.  Now can you show me where in the bible God told us to go out of our place on the seventh dayon the sabbath day - as clearly as He  said to stay in , as above?

Is Acts 20 not in your bible?

Lev. 23:3 where the Sabbath is called a "holy convocation."

Note the context of the command in Exod. 16: they were not to go out to get manna on the Sabbath.  That means that while they were to go to the Temple to worship and make a sacrifice* they weren't to go out seeking their own pleasure.

* I seem to recall reading that they made twice the offerings on the Sabbath--can anyone clarify?

Note that when Jersualem was being rebuilt Ezra had the gates of the city closed so that traders couldn't come in to do their trading on the Sabbath--he didn't post guards to keep everyone in their house on the Sabbath.

Note that when Jesus walked among us, He went to the synangogue on the Sabbath.  And on one occassion He and his disciples walked through a field of grain.  On another occasion He was at the pool of Bethseda.  Surely, if no one was to literally leave their house on the Sabbath He would have told them, just was He clarfied what the command not to commit adultery included.

Certainly--I use the KJV primarily.  After Sabbath was over (our Saturday nite) Paul met with the believers at Troas because he would be leaving (travelling) the next day.  During the meeting they ate two meals (verses 7 and 11).  Then on Sunday morning Paul and Luke and others boraded a ship and sailed to Assos (verse 12).

Most Christians as late as the 5th century kept the Sabbath.  In India they did so till the 1540's when Xavier arrived.  In Ethopia they did so till 1602.  I don't know the date when they ceased to keep the Sabbath in Ireland.
