Trump vs. Sanctuary Cities: Catholic Leaders Push Back

With California as the flash point, the U.S. bishops and immigration advocates speak out against the president’s plan to reduce these communities’ federal funding.

Called to welcome the stranger: Support undocumented people

Activists at Notre Dame and in Philadelphia want to provide sanctuary from Trump deportations. On Monday night, Holy Cross Fr. John I. Jenkins, the president of the University of Notre Dame, spoke directly to the undocumented students on campus during a post-election interfaith prayer service for respect and solidarity. (Notre Dame started admitting undocumented immigrants in 2013.)

"I assure you of our special concern for you at this time," he said Nov. 14. "The university will spare no effort to support you, just as we will for every student at Notre Dame. You accepted our invitation to come to Notre Dame, you are now part of our family, and we will do everything we can to ensure you complete your education at Notre Dame.”

Bishops declare national call-in day to urge Congress to save DACA

WASHINGTON — After the Senate failed Feb. 15 to garner the 60 votes needed to move a bill forward to protect the "Dreamers," officials of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops announced a "National Catholic Call-In Day to Protect Dreamers" Feb. 26.

"We are deeply disappointed that the Senate was not able to come together in a bipartisan manner to secure legislative protection for the Dreamers," the USCCB officials said in a joint statement Feb. 19.

"With the March 5th deadline looming, we ask once again that members of Congress show the leadership necessary to find a just and humane solution for these young people, who daily face mounting anxiety and uncertainty," they said.

The joint statement was issued by Cardinal Daniel N. DiNardo of Galveston-Houston, USCCB president; Archbishop Jose H. Gomez of Los Angeles, USCCB vice president; and Bishop Joe S. Vasquez of Austin, Texas, chairman of the USCCB Committee on Migration.

"We are also announcing a National Catholic Call-In Day to Protect Dreamers," the three prelates said. They asked U.S. Catholics "to call their members of Congress next Monday, Feb. 26, to protect Dreamers from deportation, to provide them a path to citizenship, and to avoid any damage to existing protections for families and unaccompanied minors in the process.”

The Catholic Church & Sanctuary Cities

Thanks to Donald Trump, the major media are being forced to cover the illegal immigration movement, such as the proliferation of “sanctuary cities” across the U.S. that attract criminal aliens, give them legal protection, and let them back out on the streets to commit more crimes. But the really taboo topic is how these sanctuary cities grew out of a movement started by the Catholic Church and other churches.

Over 200 cities, counties and states provide safe-haven to illegal aliens as sanctuary cities, the Center for Immigration Studies (CIS) reports. What has not yet been reported is that the Catholic Church, which gave President Obama his start in “community organizing” in Chicago, has been promoting the sanctuary movement for more than two decades.

What’s more, in April, a delegation of U.S. Catholic bishops staged a church service along the U.S.-Mexico border and distributed Communion through the border fence. At the same time, Pope Francis said a “racist and xenophobic” attitude was keeping immigrants out of the United States.

No wonder the pope’s approval ratings have been falling in the United States.  Overall, Gallup reports that it’s now at 59 percent, down from 76 percent in early 2014. Among conservatives, it’s fallen from 72 percent approval to 45 percent (a drop of 27 points).

“Few people are aware that this extreme left branch of the Catholic Church played a large part in birthing the sanctuary movement,” says James Simpson, author of the new book, The Red-Green Axis: Refugees, Immigration and the Agenda to Erase America.

Simpson says Catholic Charities, the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, and its grant-making arm, the Catholic Campaign for Human Development, are prominent elements of the open borders movement…………………………………….

Groups like the Marxist-oriented Institute for Policy Studies (IPS) were promoting the sanctuary movement for the purpose of facilitating the entry into the U.S. of illegal aliens who were supposedly being repressed by pro-American governments and movements in the region. The U.S. Catholic Bishops openly supported the sanctuary movement, even issuing a statement in 1985 denouncing the criminal indictments of those caught smuggling illegal aliens and violating the law.  Section 274 of the Immigration and Nationality Act prohibits the transportation or harboring of illegal aliens.

Two Roman Catholic priests and three nuns were among those under indictment in one case on 71 counts of conspiracy to smuggle illegal aliens into the United States. One of the Catholic priests indicted in the scheme was Father Ramon Dagoberto Quinones, a Mexican citizen. He was among those convicted of conspiracy in the case.

Through the Catholic Campaign for Human Development, an arm of the Bishops, the church has funded Casa de Maryland, an illegal alien support group which was behind the May 1, 2010, “May Day” rally in Washington, D.C. in favor of “immigrant rights.” Photographs taken by this writer showed Mexican immigrants wearing Che Guevara T-shirts, and Spanish-language communist books and literature being provided to rally participants.

An academic paper, “The Acme of the Catholic Left: Catholic Activists in the US Sanctuary Movement, 1982-1992,” states that lay Catholics and Catholic religious figures were “active participants” in the network protecting illegals. The paper said, “Near the peak of national participation in August 1988, of an estimated 464 sanctuaries around the country, 78 were Catholic communities—the largest number provided by any single denomination.”

Catholic Bishops’ Support For Open Borders Hides Self-Serving Politics

The U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops recently rewrote a quadrennial advisory for Catholic voters. The timing appears geared toward influencing the 2018 midterms.
JULY 3, 2018 By Maureen Mullarkey

In practice, the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) is an open borders lobby, a fifth column in cope and chasuble. Its most recent instruction to the laity insinuates that open borders are a core tenet of a Christian worldview.

The group recently voted to rewrite their quadrennial advisory for Catholic voters: “Forming Consciences for Faithful Citizenship.” The document traditionally appears the November prior to a presidential election year. Ostensibly, June’s comprehensive revision was done in anticipation of the 2020 election. But the timing — a year and a half ahead of schedule — suggests a move to influence the 2018 midterms…………………..

According to USCCB, a correct Catholic conscience assigns no guilt to unproductive and failed states. It spares poor nations any agency in their own condition. When Andrés López Obrador, front-runner in Mexico’s upcoming presidential election, called for mass-migration to the United States as “a human right,” he raised no eyebrows among the USCCB.

Undermining immigration policy is a USCCB mission. It does so through such affiliates as Migration and Refugee Services and the Campaign for Human Development. It has sponsored National Migration Week, an annual media event, since the 1970s. It founded a subsidiary, the Catholic Legal Immigration Network, to promote amnesty. And in 2016, the bishops aggressively opposed efforts to obligate non-compliant locales — sanctuary cities — to enforce existing immigration law.

Addressing last year’s 3rd World Meeting of Popular Movements — a mass political liturgy initiated by Francis — San Diego’s Bishop Robert McElroy of San Diego, called on religious leaders and activists to obstruct ICE attempts to locate and/or deport illegals. “We must all become disrupters,” he said………………………………

By fanning a political stance favorable to open borders, the USCCB protects the annual flow of hundreds of millions of federal monies to itself and such affiliates as Catholic Relief Services and Catholic Charities. (More than $500 million in 2016.) In addition to using tax dollars to support programs many tax payers oppose, immigration is an income-producing issue at the diocesan level. As bishops struggle to maintain infrastructure, they have incentive to breathe divine purpose into practical politics: “Our purpose is to help Catholics form their consciences in accordance with God’s truth.”…………………………..

Illegal immigration poses no problem for the bishops. Viewed from the piazza of global solidarity, there are no aliens, only “newcomers.” [Bold font peppers the text.] The “dignity of the human person,” a phrase repeated multiple times in the text, washes away divisive judgments. High-sounding, the phrase is an all-purpose abstraction that can serve any ends. (Alfie Evans, remember, was made to suffocate and dehydrate to death in the name of human dignity.) For voters, the abstraction is meant to trump immigration law…………………………

By admonishing voters to “humanize globalization,” the bishops position themselves in the vanguard of a globalist world freed from competing national aims and interests. To a clerical elite impatient for the withering away of the national state, an open border is the staging ground for assault on citizenship and national sovereignty.
………………………………..

Voting instruction bends the gospel mandate to “welcome the stranger” into a rallying cry that omits biblical distinctions between strangers. The journeying foreigner and the alien are not the same. Predictably, our bishops ignore Ruth’s resonant pledge to Naomi — “Thy God will be my God; thy people, my people.” Her words offend against diversity. Open borders enthusiasts are selective in their quotes. Among the ones they neglect: “Cursed is the man who moves his neighbor’s boundary stone.” (Deut. 27:17)………………………….

https://www.americamagazine.org/politics-society/2017/01/26/catholic-groups-are-opposing-trumps-action-border-wall-and-sanctuary

Catholic organizations expressed distress and unease with President Donald J. Trump's actions related to immigration while pledging to continue serving and supporting migrant people.

The reactions came within hours of Trump's signing of executive memorandums on national security on Jan. 25 during a visit to the Department of Homeland Security. The memorandums authorized the construction of a wall along the U.S.-Mexico border and directed John F. Kelly, secretary of homeland security, to look at how federal funding streams can be cut for cities and states that illegally harbor those in the country without legal permission.

Agencies cited the words of Pope Francis in criticizing the president's actions and pledged to support and serve migrants in the United States.

"Pope Francis has urged people not to close the door on migrants and refugees," Dominican Sister Donna Markham, president and CEO of Catholic Charities USA, said in a statement. "In concert with the Holy Father, we believe we must move from attitudes of defensiveness and fear to acceptance, compassion and encounter.

"As the U.S. Catholic bishops have said, this is not an either/or situation for us," Sister Donna added. "We can protect our citizens and, at the same time, we can welcome newcomers. Our commitment to care for those who are most vulnerable resides at the core of our faith.”

Catholic Charities USA also will continue to work for comprehensive immigration reform, Sister Donna said.

"Retaliating against local communities because they refuse to follow immoral policies is part of an emerging pattern of President Trump of not only bullying people who dare to disagree with him, but isolating and further marginalizing people who are different than him," said Eddie Carmona, campaign director for PICO National Network's LA RED campaign. "Such behavior is inconsistent with the long-held notion that America was a place of opportunity for all.”

Sister Simone Campbell, a Sister of Social Service and executive director of Network, a Catholic social justice lobbying organization, called the presidential orders "antithetical to our faith.”……………………..

"No one flees their countries of origin on a whim," a statement from the Catholic peace organization said. "We honor the multiplicity of reasons people migrate to the United States, many of which are poverty, gang violence and terror. People are not the enemy, but that is the myth we are being told by President Trump. Building a wall is the visual symbol of these political lies.”

The Franciscan Action Network expressed concern that the country would be turning its back on refugees after Trump's actions……………………….

"Pope Francis proclaimed that 'refugees are not pawns on the chessboard of humanity. They are children, women, and men who leave or who are forced to leave their homes ... the flesh of Christ is in the flesh of the refugees.' The faithful response is not to build a wall or to discriminate against Muslims, but to open our hearts and our homes to refugees of all faiths in recognition of our sacred call to protect and nourish life. If we refuse to welcome refugees in urgent need, we risk becoming like those we claim to deplore," Lee said.

Several churches, faith-based advocacy groups and interfaith programs joined the Catholic groups in criticizing the administration's plans. Among them were Alliance of Baptists, American Jewish World Service, Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, Interfaith Alliance, Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service, Muslim Public Affairs Council, National Association of Evangelicals, National Council of Churches, National Council of Jewish Women, Presbyterian Church (USA), Unitarian Universalist Association, United Church of Christ and United Methodist Church, General Board of Church and Society.

Amo, what does this thread have to do with Seventh-day Adventism?

It has to do with the continued and unending political intrigues and abuses of BABYLON THE GREAT. If you don't know what that has to do with SDA's, this is not surprising. You deny the words of those you bring accusations against when they are placed right in front of your face, no surprise that you would deny the SDA emphasis upon the Three Angels  messages. No need of course to leave the SDA church on this account, most of our churches no longer place emphasis upon these messages either.

Catholic bishops rebuke Trump’s asylum changes, suggest ‘canonical penalties’

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (RNS) — The U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops opened its spring meeting this week with a stern reproach of the Trump administration’s latest immigration policies, with the group’s president suggesting the new rules on asylum are a “right to life” issue.

Some bishops followed by urging protests, including “canonical penalties” for those who carry out the administration’s new rules. Within minutes of opening the USCCB’s biannual meeting in Fort Lauderdale on Wednesday (June 13), Cardinal Daniel DiNardo, president of the USCCB and archbishop of Galveston-Houston, read aloud a statement deeply critical of Attorney General Jeff Sessions’ recent announcement regarding asylum qualifications. “At its core, asylum is an instrument to preserve the right to life,” DiNardo said, reading from the statement. “The Attorney General’s recent decision elicits deep concern because it potentially strips asylum from many women who lack adequate protection.

“This decision negates decades of precedents that have provided protection to women fleeing domestic violence,” DiNardo continued. “We urge courts and policy makers to respect and enhance, not erode, the potential of our asylum system to preserve and protect the right to life.” On Monday, Sessions reversed an immigration appeals court decision granting asylum to a Salvadoran woman who had claimed domestic abuse in her home country. His ruling effectively overturned an Obama administration practice of allowing women with credible claims of domestic abuse or those fleeing gang violence to seek asylum in the United States. DiNardo also criticized the Trump administration’s “zero-tolerance” policy, announced in May, which calls for prosecuting all those who cross the border illegally and separating children immigrating with parents from their families.

“Our government has the discretion in our laws to ensure that young children are not separated from their parents and exposed to irreparable harm and trauma. Families are the foundational element of our society and they must be able to stay together,” DiNardo said.

“Separating babies from their mothers is not the answer and is immoral,” he added.

When he finished, DiNardo asked bishops to clap if they approved the statement. The room erupted in applause.

During a question-and-answer session about immigration issues later in the day, several bishops suggested bold strategies for countering the policies, including two from states along the U.S.-Mexico border.

Cardinal Joseph Tobin of Newark, N.J., proposed that a group of bishops be sent to the border to inspect the detention facilities where children are kept as a “sign of our pastoral concern and protest against the hardening of the American heart.” Bishop Oscar Cantú of Las Cruces, N.M., suggested “public gestures” such as prayer vigils in front of federal courthouses.

Bishop Edward Weisenburger of Tucson, Ariz., made a bolder suggestion, raising the possibility of implementing canonical penalties for Catholics “who are involved in this,” referring to children being separated from their families at the border. Canonical penalties can range from denial of sacraments to excommunication, though Weisenburger did not specify what he intended beyond referring to sanctions that already exist for “life issues.”

“Canonical penalties are there in place to heal,” Weisenburger said. “And therefore, for the salvation of these people’s souls, maybe it’s time for us to look at canonical penalties.”
The immigration policies have triggered widespread outcry from faith leaders across the religious spectrum, including Catholics. Sister Norma Pimentel, executive director of Catholic Charities of the Rio Grande Valley who has been praised by Pope Francis for her work with migrants, told USA Today that separating families is “inhumane” and “cruel.”

The bishops are meeting in Fort Lauderdale through Thursday.

This is Roman Catholicism, which once established within a nation, seeks to subvert the will of governments and peoples to its own. Never mind the cost or consequences of the same. She will attack all within her range of influence that will not submit to her usurped authority and leadership against the governments of those nations she presides within. Even while receiving countless billions of dollars from the same with or without the approval of the people. She is evil personified and institutionalized.

She destroys nations from within, while enriching herself continuously at the expense of the governments and peoples she is destroying.  Nothing but the establishment of her own will and policies matter, behind her are the historic trails of ruin and misery she has caused and ever works to cover up. She is BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND THE ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH. She will lead the entire world into ruin and destruction by the judgement of God at the return of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He has called His own out of this world. She has usurped our Lord’s authority and calls her own  not only to join but to lead this world to its end, in Christ’s name.

Quote
In America, particularly, is this investigation important. In all the countries over which it has triumphed, Popery, like the anaconda, has wound around its folds of art, of cunning, of superstition and of power, until, enclosing everything in its too friendly embraces, it has, with one tremendous effort, crushed the nation to death. It sends forth its
missionaries; it gathers its schools and colleges; it erects its cathedrals and builds its churches; it is patriotic, benevolent, charitable. Its alms and offerings attract the vulgar, its austerities and penances convince the
sceptical. It is at first tolerated; then approved; next obeyed! But now come the dread realities of the system, taxation, passive submission, excommunications, interdicts, crusades, the inquisition, destruction. Yes,
Popery has well nigh destroyed every country in which it has been predominant. The liberties and national prosperity of a people cannot coexist with such a system. (CHRIST AND ANTICHRIST, by Samuel J. Cassels, PART 2 ANTICHRIST OR THE PAPACY PROVED TO BE THE ANTICHRIST PREDICTED IN THE HOLY SCRIPTURES, INTRODUCTORY REMARKS, Pgs. 125&126)

Thus does the anomalous character of the Papacy prove it to be the antitype of “the little horn.” This power is unlike all others; is uncongenial with all others. It is a usurper, a supplanter. We can readily conceive, how a spiritual power, either associated with the state, or entirely independent of the state, may exist without discord or collision. If the church be entirely distinct from the political institutions of a people, there can of course be no disturbance, as there is no contact. And if a church be established by law, as the operations of the religious and the political systems are kept in distinct spheres, there may be but occasional evils growing out of such union. But for a government that claims its existence jure divino, that sets up a universal empire, that arrogates to itself supremacy in all civil, as well as ecclesiastical matters — for a government that considers itself infallible, and which requires absolute submission in all its subjects — for such a government to exist in the midst of other governments; in its very principles trampling upon their rights and privileges; wielding both a temporal and a spiritual sword; punishing offenders both in this world and the next — for such a government to exist in harmony with other governments, is impossible, absolutely impossible.
The papal system can harmonize with no other, whether religious or political. To the religious world, it exhibits one supreme pontiff of Christendom, and requires for him universal obedience. To the political world, it presents one great monarch, whose throne is above every throne, and whose will is law throughout the globe. No the Papacy is a unit, and presents the front of positive hostility to every thing that is not consolidated in itself. It may not be able to carry out its principles and wishes, but this is its nature. It is “diverse from all other governments; it is the adversary of all other governments.(Chapter 3, Pgs. 155&156)

U.S. Bishops Say Trump Proclamation on Caravan Migrants Is Illegal

President Trump’s recent proclamation addressing the mostly Central American migrants marching toward the U.S. border contravenes U.S. laws on immigration, declared a statement posted on the U.S. bishops website Wednesday.

“On November 9, 2018, President Trump issued a proclamation barring people arriving to the U.S./Mexico border from receiving U.S. asylum unless they request it at a U.S. port of entry, a direct contradiction of existing U.S. asylum law (see here),” reads the statement on the Bishops’ website, signed by Bishop Joe Vásquez, Chairman of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops Committee on Migration, along with officials from Catholic Charities USA, Catholic Legal Immigration Network, and Catholic Relief Services.

The bishops express their “deep concern” over the proclamation, arguing that the migrant caravan is composed of children and adults “fleeing violence” in their home countries.

“While our teaching acknowledges the right of each nation to regulate its borders, we find this action deeply concerning,” the statement reads. “It will restrict and slow access to protection for hundreds of children and families fleeing violence in Central America, potentially leaving them in unsafe conditions in Mexico or in indefinite detention situations at the U.S./Mexico border.”

The Mexican ambassador to the U.S., Geronimo Gutierrez, has warned that the migrant caravan is not just a peaceful group of people fleeing a bad situation.

“We have been trying to avoid, at all costs, violence in the border,” Gutierrez told Steve Inskeep of NPR. “Unfortunately, some of the people in the caravan have been very violent against authority, even though that they have offered the possibility of entering in compliance with immigration law and refugee status.”

In their statement, the bishops insist that seeking asylum is no crime and migrants have a right to refuge.

“We reiterate that it is not a crime to seek asylum and this right to seek refuge is codified in our laws and in our values,” it reads. “We urge the Administration to seek other solutions that will strengthen the integrity of the existing immigration system, while assuring access to protection for vulnerable children and families.”

“The Catholic Church will continue to serve, accompany and assist all those who flee persecution, regardless of where they seek such protection and where they are from,” the statement concludes.

In his proclamation, President Trump expressed concern that an influx of “large groups of aliens arriving at once through the southern border would add tremendous strain to an already taxed system, especially if they avoid orderly processing by unlawfully crossing the southern border.”

“Failing to take immediate action to stem the mass migration the United States is currently experiencing and anticipating would only encourage additional mass unlawful migration and further overwhelming of the system,” he said.

More of the same. As is almost always the case, the caravan is composed of mostly young men, not women and children.

Border dioceses prepare to aid migrants heading to U.S. in caravans

Denver, Colo., Nov 1, 2018 / 04:00 am (CNA).- Catholic agencies along the U.S.-Mexico border are bolstering refugee aid efforts as thousands of people in multiple migrant caravans continue to trek north through Mexico to the border.

Thousands of migrants, primarily from the Central American countries of El Salvador, Honduras and Guatemala, started multiple caravans to the United States border earlier this month in order to seek asylum. While the caravans are still weeks out, Catholic charities along the border are preparing for an increased influx of refugees.

Teresa Cavendish, director of operations for Catholic Community Services in Tucson, Arizona told CNA that while they are monitoring the caravans, the agency is accustomed to receiving and helping large numbers of migrants with food and clothing, and then connecting them to their family in the U.S.

“In Arizona and all along the southern border last week there have been large numbers of releases anyway,” Cavendish told CNA......................................... .....

Safe journey: Vatican pushes for global compacts on migration, refugees

ROME - While encouraging Catholics to reach out to migrants and refugees, the Vatican is reaching out to governments as they struggle to work out international policies and principles for dealing with the large number of people fleeing violence and poverty.

The involvement of the church and church agencies in the U.N. process for drafting the Global Compact on Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration and the Global Compact on Refugees goes hand in hand with the much more personalized effort to encourage individual Catholics to meet a migrant or refugee and listen to that person’s story.

Pope Francis launched Caritas Internationalis’s “Share the Journey” campaign Sept. 27, inviting all Catholics to extend a hand of welcome to a migrant or refugee.

The pope himself oversees the Migrants and Refugees Section of the Vatican Dicastery for Promoting Integral Human Development, and he has approved specific “action points” or concrete proposals the Vatican wants to see incorporated into the global compacts.

The 20 points, drafted in consultation with several bishops’ conferences and Catholic organizations working with refugees and migrants, are explained in separate notes. One, addressed to bishops and other pastoral leaders, aims to educate Catholics and build public support for policies to guarantee an appropriate welcome, protection, promotion and integration of migrants and refugees. The other is addressed more specifically to politicians and those involved in drafting the compacts.................................... ............

Pope's representative for refugees visits El Paso, urges help for immigrants

The Rev. Robert Stark, Pope Francis' representative from the Vatican's Migrant and Refugees Section, on Saturday called for El Paso-area parishioners to help immigrants and to defend the Catholic Church’s right to migrate.

Stark encouraged parishioners to defend and advocate for the Catholic Church’s “fundamental” rights to migrate, to not migrate if people choose to stay in their homelands and to seek refuge.

“We are called to defend these basic rights,” he said. “It’s immoral to criminalize people seeking refuge and asylum and separate their families.”

Stark called on the parishioners to recognize, respect and promote these rights.

Stark was in El Paso on Friday and Saturday to participate in the Weekend of Solidarity with Migrants by the Diocesan Commission on Migration and the Hope Border Network to support immigrants, especially those impacted by the federal government's "zero tolerance" policy.

Pope Francis: prioritise migrants' dignity over national security

Pope Francis has issued a 20-point action plan to governments on refugees and migrants to try to galvanise their response to an issue seen by the Vatican as one of the biggest global challenges of the 21st century.

His intention is to lay the ground for the drafting of two global compacts on refugees and migration, which are expected to be adopted at the UN general assembly in September 2018.

The roadmap was published on Monday by the Vatican’s migrants and refugees section, which was set up by Francis last year and operates under his direction. The action points were personally approved by the pontiff......................

All emphasis in the following quotes is mine.

Quote
Yes, Immigration Hurts American Workers

............................................ ....................................

Hillary Clinton, for her part, seemed to be telling only the other half. At her convention a week later, Clinton claimed that immigrants, both legal and illegal, improve the economy for everyone. She told the crowd: “I believe that when we have millions of hardworking immigrants contributing to our economy, it would be self-defeating and inhumane to try to kick them out. Comprehensive immigration reform will grow our economy.”

Here’s the problem with the current immigration debate: Neither side is revealing the whole picture. Trump might cite my work, but he overlooks my findings that the influx of immigrants can potentially be a net good for the nation, increasing the total wealth of the population. Clinton ignores the hard truth that not everyone benefits when immigrants arrive. For many Americans, the influx of immigrants hurts their prospects significantly.

This second message might be hard for many Americans to process, but anyone who tells you that immigration doesn’t have any negative effects doesn’t understand how it really works. When the supply of workers goes up, the price that firms have to pay to hire workers goes down. Wage trends over the past half-century suggest that a 10 percent increase in the number of workers with a particular set of skills probably lowers the wage of that group by at least 3 percent. Even after the economy has fully adjusted, those skill groups that received the most immigrants will still offer lower pay relative to those that received fewer immigrants.

............................................ ..........................................

We don’t need to rely on complex statistical calculations to see the harm being done to some workers. Simply look at how employers have reacted. A decade ago, Crider Inc., a chicken processing plant in Georgia, was raided by immigration agents, and 75 percent of its workforce vanished over a single weekend. Shortly after, Crider placed an ad in the local newspaper announcing job openings at higher wages. Similarly, the flood of recent news reports on abuse of the H-1B visa program shows that firms will quickly dismiss their current tech workforce when they find cheaper immigrant workers.

But that’s only one side of the story. Somebody’s lower wage is always somebody else’s higher profit. In this case, immigration redistributes wealth from those who compete with immigrants to those who use immigrants—from the employee to the employer. And the additional profits are so large that the economic pie accruing to all natives actually grows. I estimate the current “immigration surplus”—the net increase in the total wealth of the native population—to be about$50 billion annually. But behind that calculation is a much larger shift from one group of Americans to another: The total wealth redistribution from the native losers to the native winners is enormous, roughly a half-trillion dollars a year. Immigrants, too, gain substantially; their total earnings far exceed what their income would have been had they not migrated.

When we look at the overall value of immigration, there’s one more complicating factor: Immigrants receive government assistance at higher rates than natives. The higher cost of all the services provided to immigrants and the lower taxes they pay (because they have lower earnings) inevitably implies that on a year-to-year basis immigration creates a fiscal hole of at least $50 billion—a burden that falls on the native population.

What does it all add up to? The fiscal burden offsets the gain from the $50 billion immigration surplus, so it’s not too farfetched to conclude that immigration has barely affected the total wealth of natives at all. Instead, it has changed how the pie is split, with the losers—the workers who compete with immigrants, many of those being low-skilled Americans—sending a roughly $500 billion check annually to the winners. Those winners are primarily their employers. And the immigrants themselves come out ahead, too. Put bluntly, immigration turns out to be just another income redistribution program.......................................................

Just another income redistribution program brought to you buy your favorite purple and scarlet clad woman decked with gold, precious stones, and pearls, sitting upon many waters, and holding the golden cup in her hand. Go to America, drink from her cup unto oblivious annihilation.

Pope Francis Calls On Catholics To Show Their Support Of Migrants And Join “Global Solidarity Walk”

(Big League Politics) – On Sunday, Pope Francis plugged the One-million-kilometer “Global Solidarity Walk” for migrants and refugees, urging all Catholics to participate in the pro-immigration event.

The event, organized by international Catholic relief service Caritas Internationalis, involves walking “side by side with migrants and refugees” but has a clear political purpose as well. By walking together, we “send a strong message of unity to political leaders,” organizers declare.

Sunday the pope compared the pro-immigration walk to the journey two disciples took on the road to Emmaus after Christ’s resurrection, where they were joined by Jesus as they traveled.

“Join Caritas and walk 1 million kilometres together with migrants & refugees. We are all on the Road to Emmaus being called to see the face of Christ. #sharejourney”

Back in September 2017, the pope stated that Jesus Christ himself is who asks us to welcome migrants “with arms wide open,” and that a failure to do so stems from xenophobia.

Pope Francis went on to say that opposition to immigration “finds its explanation in an innate fear of the ‘foreigner,’ a fear exacerbated by the wounds caused by the economic crisis, the unpreparedness of the local communities, and the inadequacy of many measures taken in an emergency atmosphere.”

Francis also launched a two-year pro-immigration campaign to encourage a more welcoming attitude toward migrants all over the globe.

The campaign is run by Caritas Internationalis and was initially launched in response to Pope Francis’ habitual summons for a “culture of encounter” with immigrants.

The world “faces not a migration crisis, but a crisis of global solidarity,” Caritas Internationalis says on its website. “Be part of a worldwide campaign to reach out to migrants, change perceptions, open hearts and minds, and strengthen the bonds that unite us all.”

The organization states that the project hopes to provoke a “shift in thinking” as far as immigration is concerned, by dispelling common “myths about migration.”

The organization says on their website that popular myths about migration include migrants living off welfare benefits and stealing jobs from citizens, that closing borders will curb migrant flows, that there are more migrants now than ever before, and that “people from poor countries migrate to rich ones.”

Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle of Manila, president of Caritas Internationalis, recently said during a Vatican press conference that world leaders should remember that “we are all migrants. Nobody can claim to be a non-migrant, we are all passing in this world.”

“Nobody is a permanent resident,” and no one can claim to “own the space they occupy,” he said, voicing his hope that there would be a universal “conversion of mind” on the issue.

So, who do your politicians listen to and obey, their citizens, or the Pope? The answer is of course obvious.

Illegal-Immigrant Caravans, Churches, and Criminal Sanctuaries

............................................ ...............................

Pueblo Sin Fronteras, the group in charge of the annual “migrant caravan,” launched its effort during Holy Week by invoking the Stations of the Cross with biblical costumery and prop crosses. When they’re not serving as human traffickers masquerading as human-rights activists, these travel agents for amnesty busy themselves constructing shelters along their illicit pathways that span the globe. Catholic groups have sponsored and subsidized such nation-sabotaging campaigns for decades.

The Vatican itself donated at least $20,000 in 2009 to erect a shelter for Central American illegal aliens sneaking through Ixtepec, Mexico, where they hopped on freight trains into our country. Another papal society, Catholic Extension, has poured more than $12 million dollars into ministries along our southern border over the past five years “to ensure that those who are on a journey are protected by the Church and that we advocate on their behalf,” according to the Catholic News Agency.

............................................ ............................................ .

In Washington State, the Jesuit-affiliated St. Joseph Catholic Church of Seattle blasted President Trump’s “destructive and brutal” immigration enforcement and declared “our unwavering solidarity with our brothers and sisters in the immigrant community.” All deportations violate “Catholic Social Teaching” and “the common good,” the parish asserted.

............................................ ....................

In Las Vegas, the incoming Catholic Bishop George Leo Thomas announced that illegal immigration and gun control will top his spiritual agenda. Echoing the left-wing U.S. Conference on Catholic Bishops, Thomas pledged to support and advocate for the so-called illegal-alien Dreamers and welcome them into the church.

In San Diego, Catholic and Episcopal leaders united to protest construction of the border wall while waving Mexican flags. “Jesus said we should love our neighbor,” one argued.

............................................ ............................

We reserve the right to regulate entry into our country for the same reasons the Vatican itself has high barriers, armed guards, and metal detectors. Yet, Pope Francis has lambasted President Trump and our walls as “not Christian.”

If you don’t like our laws, change them. If you can’t respect our sovereignty, go organize a caravan of alien trespassers and seek permanent shelter at the Sistine Chapel. Good luck with that.

Organizer of new caravan arrested for rape

An organizer of the latest migrant caravan was arrested on rape charges in Honduras.

Juan Carlos Molina, the subject of an arrest warrant since August 2015, was on his way to the United States to seek asylum after raping his minor cousin, Diario La Tribuna reported, according to the Gateway Pundit.

The paper said Molina, 26, is accused of sneaking into the bedroom of his cousin, 12, at night while the girl’s mother was away at work.

The minor child became pregnant and gave birth to a son, the paper said. A DNA test of the infant revealed the child was Molina’s.

Molina skipped court dates and ultimately became a fugitive. He would have made it to the U.S. if he had not been arrested, the Gateway Pundit noted.

The new caravan of an estimated 800 migrants left San Pedro Sula, Honduras, on Monday.

Breitbart News reported Miguel Perez, the sub-director of the Honduran Border Police, said that at the time of his arrest, Molina had fake IDs.

The new caravan, Breitbart noted, comes as the Mexican border city of Tijuana continues to deal with thousands of members of the first caravan who are still waiting to enter the U.S. to request asylum.

Tijuana officials say they lack support from the Mexican federal government to provide food shelters and other basic needs for members of the first caravan.

San Antonio archdiocese prepares for new parishes

San Antonio, Texas, Jan 11, 2019 / 03:01 pm (CNA).- The Archdiocese of San Antonio has collected over half of the funds for a campaign to construct new parish buildings in preparation for an expected population boom.

The "On the Way - ¡Ándale!" Capital Campaign, this is the first campaign the diocese has seen since 1955. It has raised over $40 million of the $60 million goal.

Construction on Mary, Mother of the Church parish could start as early as fall 2019. The church grounds will include a sanctuary, school, meeting hall, rectory, and sport complex.

Archbishop Gustavo García-Siller blessed the grounds of the new parish Dec. 8. The parish grounds are located in west San Antonio.

The campaign is expected to establish eight parish communities throughout the archdiocese. The plan is for the parishes to be completed within 10 years.

The construction of new churches is rare, but the archdiocese is predicting a large increase in church-goers as San Antonio plans to see an increase in nearly 1 million people by 2040.

Don Meyer, general chair of the campaign, told KENS 5 that new facilities are required to compensate for the upcoming growth and the already over-populated parishes in the area, including his own parish, Holy Trinity.

"There's a projected 200,000 new Catholics coming in the next ten years. To faithfully serve those parishioners, we will require new parishes, new and expanded schools to educate the youth to give them a faith-based education and renovation and expansion of existing parishes," he said.

Donna Degenhardt, an attendant at the blessing ceremony, also told KENS 5 that a need for new parish facilities was desperately needed.

"We need this church in the worst way. It is so wonderful. We're so excited and we can't wait until it gets built!" she said.

According to the Archdiocese of San Antonio, Father Larry Christian, pastor of St. Ann Catholic Church, spoke to the attendees of ground blessing ceremony, highlighting the importance of the project.

“The On the Way - ¡Ándale! capital campaign – in many ways – is about building up the legacy of our founders and the many people who have helped establish the Catholic parishes, missions, schools, hospitals, colleges, service programs and spirit that is reflective of our archdiocese,” he said.

The arrogance of the Catholic church knows no end. Where do you suppose they think these 200,000 new members are coming from? They facilitate the legal and illegal immigration of them from predominantly Roman Catholic countries to our south, which are to corrupt, and mismanaged to provide for their own. Even though our present President and the American people do not want this unsustainable number of non stop immigrants, not only does Rome not care about the will of the people of this or any nations, but she actually spends millions building her churches to accommodate all those she intends to bring in against the will of the people. As always this parasite of an institution continuously sucks the life blood out of nations and peoples. The manipulative implementation of her policies and practices either against the will of the people or unbeknown to the same are the ruin of all interests but her own. Her exact intentions and ideal model is the two class society of elitist lords and clergy, and totally dependent laity and peasants.

Rev 17:1 And there came one of the seven angels which had the seven vials, and talked with me, saying unto me, Come hither; I will shew unto thee the judgment of the great whore that sitteth upon many waters: 2 With whom the kings of the earth have committed fornication, and the inhabitants of the earth have been made drunk with the wine of her fornication.

Quote
New migrant caravan has left Honduras; why do they flee?

...

“There are lots of people in Honduras in the caravan who left because they had drought the past four out of five years - so climate change is also a factor,” said Rick Jones, migration adviser at Catholic Relief Services in El Salvador. He also cited lack of opportunities in Central America and the possibility of family reunification.

...

The new caravan caused some disquiet for the operators of Catholic-run migrant shelters. Jorge Andrade, director of a collection of shelters, said caravans present problems such as collapsing local infrastructure for migrants and an inability to screen the travelers they’re serving. The price of hiring a human smuggler to take migrants across the U.S. border also has increased, he said.

Javier Urbano, who studies migration as a professor at the Jesuit-run Iberoamerican University, says the shelters traditionally provide humanitarian assistance to migrants - a place to eat, sleep and rest - but are being pulled into politics with the rise of caravans, which are visible and inevitably become political.

“We can no longer respond in the (same) way,” Urbano said. “Humanitarian intervention (is) coming up short. Now it has to be humanitarian intervention, but also political action.”

The Catholic church is of course up to date concerning the reasons for the migrant crisis whether real or invented, since she is right in the middle of facilitating and supporting the same. Never mind the billions she already receives from governments all over the world which can be applied to this situation, she can no longer handle it and now suggests or requires politicians give her a helping hand with or without the consent of the people they are supposed to represent. Roman Catholic countries and therefore governments failing to our south, becoming increasingly dependent upon the ever dwindling wealth of a nation to their north which was built upon Protestant and biblical principles of government by the people and for the people. Which government and nation has been continuously bombarded with several massive migrations of Roman Catholics to it, who bring ever increasing influences of Roman government and support of Rome itself to said nation, slowly changing and bringing us down to the level of their many failing nations.

So what now? A cry for the never ending increasing support of Catholic peoples from predominantly Catholic nations from a once predominantly Protestant and therefore prosperous nation, which is now 22 trillion dollars in debt. Which ever increasing debt has been heavily aided by the ever increasing influence and financial burden which the Church of Rome brings upon all nations she becomes predominant within. Can you say disfunction? We simply will not ever learn from the lessons of history, or apparently what is happening right in front of our faces. The Church of Rome spiritually represents a people completely dependent upon their clergy for salvation, and correspondingly her political intrigues amount to a people completely dependent upon government. Which two worldly powers have historically and ever increasingly presently been in bed together in order to facilitate the same.

It sends forth its missionaries; it gathers its schools and colleges; it erects its cathedrals and builds its churches; it is patriotic, benevolent, charitable. Its alms and offerings attract the vulgar, its austerities and penances convince the sceptical. It is at first tolerated; then approved; next obeyed! But now come the dread realities of the system, taxation, passive submission, excommunications, interdicts, crusades, the inquisition, destruction. Yes, Popery has well nigh destroyed every country in which it has been predominant. The liberties and national prosperity of a people cannot coexist with such a system.

Let then, Americans — Americans, who have never witnessed a Court of Inquisition, or an Auto-da-fe, on their virgin soil; Americans, whose national liberties are still fragrant with the blood of revolutionary forefathers; Americans, whose proud eminence in the civilized world, gives them more to lose than other nations; let Americans especially examine this subject well. And if, in such an examination, the following pages shall contribute but a mite to the discovery of the truth, the author will feel himself more than compensated for the labor they have cost him.

Bishops Admit to 'Shocking Reality' in Honduras as Caravan of 14,000 Immigrants Heads to US Border

Roman Catholic bishops in Honduras have admitted that their country is in a "shocking" and "shameful" state, which has added to the thousands-strong caravan headed to the U.S. border.

"It's a shocking reality caused by the current situation in our country, which forces a multitude to leave what little it has, venturing without any certainty for the migration route to the United States, with the desire to reach the promised land, the 'American dream,' which allows them to solve their economic problems and improve their living conditions. For them and their families and, in many cases, to ensure the long-awaited physical security," the Episcopal Conference of Honduras told Fides News in a statement on Wednesday.

"It's the duty of the Honduran State to provide its citizens with the means to satisfy their basic needs, such as decent, stable and well-paid work, health, education and housing. When these conditions do not exist, people are forced to live in tragedy and many of them hope to undertake a path that leads to development and improvement, finding themselves in the shameful and painful need to leave their families, their friends, their community, their culture, their environment and their land," the bishops added, touching upon the economic crisis that has led thousands to illegally migrate through Mexico and head for the U.S., seeking asylum.

...

There you have it straight from Rome's mouth. The Catholics of failed Catholic nations who believe the state is responsible to feed, clothe, house, and supply them with work if they so choose, leave to go to America where they believe the government will feed, clothe, house, and provide them with work. The only problem of course is, that a country which is supposed to be government for the people and by the people, takes all the means to do so from its people with or without their consent. This is not government for the people by the people. Especially when so very many of them are protesting the same. Eventually of course with an unending increase of this influx of people from these failing nations who believe all should be dependent upon government, reaches the point of them outnumbering those who appose such, our nation will naturally just become another failing nation that believes and attempts to implement such. As has been our present course for decades now putting us 22 trillion dollars in debt. Not to worry, when the existing economic structure of the world collapses according to said situation or ,plan, the new global system already waiting and in place will be implemented to save all. Which plan of course will include the subjugation of all to far greater government control and manipulation of their lives than they have ever witnessed before.

Rev 13:11 And I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb, and he spake as a dragon. 12 And he exerciseth all the power of the first beast before him, and causeth the earth and them which dwell therein to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed. 13 And he doeth great wonders, so that he maketh fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men, 14 And deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword, and did live. 15 And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed. 16 And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads: 17 And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name. 18 Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six.

The Catholic Church next to migrants in Mexico

The Mexican bishops have spoken in favor of the caravan of Honduran migrants traveling in the south of the country.
Honduran migrants crossing Mexico " do not pose a threat to our well-being, but an opportunity to serve Christians who have left everything behind to live a worthier life ", Declared the archdiocese of Mexico City in his weekly" Desde la fe ", and urged the citizens to protect the caravan along the road to the United States.

The migrating caravan resumed Mexico in the south of Mexico on Monday, while the United States sent thousands of soldiers to the border to block their arrival, described by Donald Trump as an "invasion."

United States: Trump revives the theme of migration threat

The Catholic Church has multiplied its actions to show support for migrants. On Oct. 30, the Episcopal Conference of Mexico invited priests and bishops of the country to celebrate the Eucharist. " as a sign that the church is accompanying people walking through Mexico ".

Escape the violence

Father Michael Czerny, secretary of the Immigration and Refugee Department of the Vatican Monastery for Integral Human Development, visits Mexico City from 2-4 November to participate in the Eighth World Social Forum on migration. " It is an opportunity to express our fellowship with Pope Francis, as well as our solidarity and support for his call to welcome, protect, encourage and integrate our migrant brothers. Said Cardinal Francisco Robles Ortega, Archbishop of Guadalajara.

On October 28, in the central park of San Pedro Tapanatepec, in the state of Oaxaca, where the caravan arrived, it was announced that some of the most committed priests in the defense of migrants would accompany them to help them on their journey. to travel. The Archdiocese of Mexico City has also indicated that it will do its utmost to accommodate the Honduran in the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe upon their arrival, and then divide them into the structures of the different parishes of the capital .

United States: Trump revives the theme of migration threat

They are three thousand Hondurans who forced the border between Guatemala and Mexico in the city of Tapachula in mid-October. Honduras is one of the most violent countries in the world, with an annual number of 43 murders per 100,000 inhabitants. This uncertainty contributes to major economic problems. Seven out of ten Hondurans live in poverty according to the World Bank.

Caravan Onslaught On Border: Bleeding America By A Thousand Cuts

Nov 15, 2018   Read More Articles by Frosty Wooldridge

When do too many become too much? Why must the world’s miseries become America’s responsibilities?  At what point, does the immigrant line end?

In the past month, emotional writers around the United States tell us that we must accept and care for the 14,000-strong immigrant caravan chugging toward our southern border. More open-borders activists plan to fight the military in order to allow the migrants into the United States. The Catholic Church encourages its flock to violate our borders at every level. The Pope, standing behind the tall walls of the Vatican, scolds us for building a wall on the Mexican border. High powered leaders, like Joe Biden, Nancy Pelosi, Charles Schumer, Barack Obama, Diane Feinstein, Michael Bennet and more Congressional Critters, press for no borders for America. They feel we should dissolve our borders and open up our country to unlimited immigration.

Catholic Charities, Lutheran Charities, Muslim Charities and Jewish Charities encourage refugees, equip them and plant them in thousands of cities across America annually: all on your taxes.  Congress aids and abets them.

An average of 300,000 pregnant women from all over the world violate America’s borders to birth their anchor babies annually. Those babies cost you, the American taxpayer, billions over the decades, if not into the trillions of dollars.  Congress does nothing to stop them.

Congress mandates 50,000 diversity visas annually to give a “Golden Ticket” to third world poor people to arrive in America with an apartment, food stamps, automobile and cash for as long as they choose.  All on your taxpayer dollar!  To sober you to this Congressional boondoggle, 14 million third world poor sign up for that Golden Ticket to America every year.

If given a free ticket on a plane to America, 100,000,000 (million) to as high as 500,000,000 (million) citizens of the world would gladly vacate their hellish countries to come to America, Canada and Europe.  The United Nations reports that 68,000,000 (million) refugees languish around the world at this date.  That number will exceed 100 million within 10 years. In India, 60 percent of Indians do not enjoy access to a toilet or shower. No wonder they chain-migrate into America like a human monsoon.   (Source: Indian Express)

As it is, 1,200,000 (million) legal immigrant refugees flow into the United States annually. That’s 100,000 every thirty days.  Once established, they chain-migrate their relatives from 196 different countries.

On the illegal side, the U.S. Border Patrol reports that 1,500 illegal alien refugees jump our borders successfully 24/7.  That adds up to 500,000 illegal aliens that break into America annually. (Source: Dr. Steve Camarota, Illegal Alien Flow into the USA, www.cis.org)

Bleeding heart Amanda Cater wrote a letter to the Bozeman Montana paper pleading on behalf of the Central American caravan of immigrants about to invade America’s borders. She said, “The people seeking refuge are a very small percentage of our 325 million people.  We must let them into our country.”

She didn’t mention that we suffer 11,000 homeless in San Francisco, 10,000 homeless in my City of Denver, 12,500 homeless in Seattle, and 90,000 homeless living in tarp cities in Los Angeles. In August 2018, New York City reported 63,025 homeless people, including 15,421 homeless families with 22,907 homeless children, sleeping each night in the New York City municipal shelter system. Families make up three-quarters of the homeless shelter population. (Source: Basic facts of homeless in USA, Google)

Cater didn’t mention that 44,000,000 (million) Americans, refugees and illegal aliens subsist on food stamps that cost American taxpayer hundreds of billions of dollars annually.

Dr. Paul Nachman, a population expert in Montana, responded to Cater, “We already admit over one million legal immigrants yearly, causing substantial stress in our national life.  (Think: stagnant wages, galloping housing prices, schools blitzed with influxes of non-English-speaking pupils, jammed highways, welfare burdens, inter-ethnic strife, ….)  Meanwhile, in recent years, the Gallup organization has done worldwide polls revealing that 160 million adults want to move to the U.S., and the number would be much bigger when we count their children.”

Above all of this invasion, our national debt stands at $21 trillion.  Anybody see a problem with that?

Additionally, we face a fractured and fragmented Congress seething to disembowel President Trump and all Republicans.  We face 240 Sanctuary Cities supporting all illegal aliens living within their boundaries.  We face millions of employers cheating our tax codes by hiring illegals for a fraction of a living wage.

And yet, we’re expected to care for the rest of the world’s desperately poor, disenfranchised and sick.  At the same time, those same third world refugees produce a net gain of 80,000,000 (million) new babies annually around the world.
