A Holy Convocation was NOT a worship day
1) According to whom?

2) According to what standard?

3) Who set the rule?

Quote
As the synagogue which met on the REST DAYS (not necessarily the SEVENTH) excluded vocal or instrumental rejoicing.
1) Who said that the rest days only happened on the Sabbath?

2) Where's the proof of the excluion you mentioned?

Quote
The Jews attended synagogue as a SCHOOL OF THE BIBLE with no preaching, singing or taking up a tax.
Please show  us the proof.

Quote
The synagogue "never had a praise service"
1) Who said that there was one?

2) Who said that there had to be one?

Quote
because of a direct command and common decency when you meet ONLY to read and learn a portion of the Scripture.
I'd like to see the biblical support for that.

Quote
REST on the SABBATH but SABBATH does not mean SEVENTH DAY of our calendar.
If you don't know which day is the seventh day, then you don't know which day is the first day (the day Christ arose from the dead) either.

The SDA people really twist ALL historic scholars badly and depend primarily on quotes of their OWN theologians who are like all theologians who LIFT better than a pickpocket.
1) "The SDA people"--all in one lump, eh?  We're all alike?  None of us actually look at the historical works?  ...

2) Where was the "twist" in the quotes from Sozomen and Socrates?

2) "All"? Why do the critics need to lie so badly?  Is their cause really that weak?

3) Socrates and Sozomen were SDA's? 1300 years ahead of time?  Maybe it was time-travel.  Got proof that all of the quotes were from SDA scholars?

I'm still waiting for the answers to these simple questions.

It doesn't matter to me when the first day of the week comes: you cannot honor the SABBATH (means REST: NOT WORSHIP) and continue the festivals without a stargazer like David's Gad.  You can REDEFINE the SEVENTH but you don't keep it. If you did and also tithed that would mark you with Babylonianism just like the Israelites.

Christians do not have any "holy days" that would be idolatry. The First Day of the week like the meaning of synagogue has a Set-Time-Place so that people who travel for hours know when and where to come together.  Jesus synagogued with the disciples on the FIRST day of the week: somehow every one knew the plan and showed up the NEXT first day of the week.  Paul had to wait all week in Troas until the widely scattered disciples came together on the First day of the week.  No one but those celebrating the ancient "mysteries" ever showed up on the SEVENTH day to observe the Lord's Supper.  Jesus was still a DEAD JESUS on the Sabbath: how can you remember Him as a resurrected Savior and leave Him in the tomb: is that on purpose.

Here are some facts about the Church of Christ which began in the wilderness: the only change was the addition of the Lord's Supper and PROTECTED the people by leaving the REST day for people to REST, met on the first day of the week.

http://www.piney.com/Synagogue1.html

Why did it meet on the FIRST DAY instead of the superstitious seventh day (not called sabbath)?  Why, they did that because NONE of the SUN or Starry Host to which God abandoned Israel were worshipped on the FIRST day.

To say that the mostly military Mithra people venerated the sun does not mean that there is any evidence that they held a "worship ritual" on the first day. The worship of Mithra EXCLUDED women and was outslawed shortly after Constantine.

The Church in the wilderness met on the SEVENTH day in their homes or very close to QUARANTINE them from the usuall SEVENT DAY worships meaning religious ceremonials thinking to have power over the gods.  The QAHAL or synagogue defines ONLY reading and rehearsing: that is what Paul commanded and practiced as a school of the Bible. Paul's ONLY worship word other than to fall on your face was to GIVE HEED to the word of God.

Pretty simple: Jesus sent people out to make DISCIPLES. Disciples are students. Jesus commanded that they teach what HE had taught and revealed through the prophets and apostles. He did not command them to observe the practices of WORSHIPING THE SUN, MOON AND STARS which always happened on SATURN'S DAY.

The Jews worshipped the SUN on the seventh day of the week while those NOT of the cursed tribe of Levi went to church to worship God meaning to give heed ot God's words.

The Apollo, Abaddon or Apollyon (the Devil) was worshipped on the SEVENTH DAY of the week. Apollo was considered the SUN God in Rome along with SATURN often called the SUN.

The emasculated worshipers of Cybele their goddess worshipped on the SEVENTH day of the week.

It is a mistake to say that they celebrated the MYSTERIES on the SEVENT day and conclude that to be the Lord's Supper.  It is not: just like the Jews it was the worship of the SUN and SERPENTS to which God ABANDONED Israel because of musical idolatry: DON'T take God's curse as God's pattern for us. REST on the sevent day and don't PROFANE it with music as they did at Mount Sinai.

Many Christians continued the same Bacchus or Dionysus worship to which God abandoned them at Moun tSinai.

Christian Ophites, therefore, preserving the memory of their Bacchanalian orgies, would naturally confound the observances of the Lord's Supper with the practices incident to their heathen festival. The hymn with which they concluded their idolatrous ceremonies, addressed through the serpent to the Supreme Father, is a memorial of the hymn sung to Python on every seventh day at Delphi   These opinions of the Gnostic Ophites were blended with the old Magian superstition of Persia by Manes, a celebrated heretic of the third century; who revived ophiolatreia, in his native country, under the name of Christianity Worship of serpents, Deane

Didn't say anything about the festivals, so I don't need a stargazer.

Paul had to wait all week in Troas until the widely scattered disciples came together on the First day of the week.
Paul left Troas on Sunday morning.  They met that Sabbath and then had another meeting after sundown, till midnight.

Quote

It shows that Jesus kept the Sabbath, even in death.

Quote

The seventh day is usually regarded as a positive, nothing superstitious about it.

Most Christians even as late as the 5th century kept the Sabbath.

In the Theological Wordbook Of the Old Testament, edited by R. Laird Harris, Gleason L. Archer, Jr., and Bruce K. Waltke, vol. 2, page 811, under "miqra'. Convocation, reading." we find that it involved "a formal summoning of the people to worship by the blast of trumpets (Num 10:2, 10 ..." and that "The godly were to focus their time and effort on worship." (emphasis added)

You might be thinking of the Babylonian superstitions.

"But those Babylonian seventh days are not days of joy, as the Sabbath is in Israel, but days of evil ..."

See John Calvin who along with most historic scholars understand the nature of the Church in the wilderness which OUTLAWED even calling the assembly with the 'vocal or instrumental rejoicing' sounds:

http://www.piney.com/Calvin.Numbers.10.html

God only ordained two silver trumpets: they were reserved for sending signals. You will remember that Paul defined speaking in a strange language "in church" to the sending of unsure signals. That agrees with all evidence that the "sounds" were never used AS worship but to signal various events. After the fall into musical idolatry at Moung Sinai God assigned the tribe of Levi--already cursed by their father--to carry out the worship of the starry host.  At the same time the Qahal, synagogue or church in the wilderness was never called WORSHIP in the sense of modern ceremonial legalism.  The Holy Convocation:

God never demanded WORSHIP SERVICES in the sense that people perform rituals as a way to appease God: in paganism and especially a mark of the tongues in Corinth of the Mad Women they MIGHT be cursing the gods for not producing a good crop.

Every seven years, that is in the year of release, during the feast of Tabernacles, the Law was to be read before all the people according to the command found in Deut., xxxi, 10. But this enactment was probably soon found to be impracticable; and thus the Jewish authorities arranged to read on every sabbath, commencing with the sabbath after the feast of Tabernacles in one year of release and ending with the feast of Tabernacles in the next year of release, a portion of the Law so calculated that the whole Pentateuch would be read through in seven years. This would in some way the commandment be fulfilled. Some time later, the Jews of Palestine lengthened the sections for each sabbath in such a manner that he entire Law could be read in three years (Talm. Babyl. Megillah, 29b).

The faithful Israelites never varied from holding BIBLE CLASS on the Sabbath which was the day the Levites--an old Egyptian cul--were PROFANING the Sabbath by sacrificing animals.  For the faithful the Jewish source note that instruments were never used on the Sabbath for the NON-abandoned people.  The DIVERTERS I believe are assigned their names by God as a Mark: Zoe is Lucifer the singing and harp playing prostitute. Halal is the PRAISE word which means to make yourself vile. It has the same meaning as the PROFANING the Sabbath translated as play the flute, steal your inheritance (cutting of roots mystery), pollute or prostitute. The PRAISE word is the root for LUCIFER.

The only "worship" words used by Peter and Paul meant to "give heed to the Word of God."  The synagogue never had a praise service because of a direct command and commone decency and reverence.

Numbers 10:[7]  But when the assembly is to be gathered together,
        you shall blow,
but you shall not sound an alarm.

The Alarm is the "triump over" word Judas would use to try to defeat Jesus: the Judas bag was "for carrying the mouthpieces of wind instruments." The word SOP root for Psallo caused Satan to take over Judas.

7321., roo-ah´; a primitive root; to mar (especially by breaking); figuratively, to split the ears (with sound), i.e. shout (for alarm or joy):—blow an alarm, cry (alarm, aloud, out), destroy, make a joyful noise, smart, shout (for joy), sound an alarm, triumph.

8643. truw{ah, ter-oo-aw´; from 7321; clamor, i.e. acclamation of joy or a battle-cry; especially clangor of trumpets, as an alarum:—alarm, blow(- ing) (of, the) (trumpets), joy, JUBILE, loud noise, rejoicing, shout(-ing), (high, joyful) sound(-ing).

Latin [7] quando autem congregandus est populus simplex tubarum clangor erit et non concise ululabunt

The church or congregation is defined as an ACADEMIA: this was opposite to the academia of the cynics who were the DOGS Paul excluded from worship IN THE SPIRIT. This is opposite to IN THE FLESH.  Therefore, worship is giving attention to God through HIS words (Ours outlawed Isa 58 and all of the not-musical passages)

Con-grĕgo Congrego Academia congregation.  where plato taught, scholars are called Academici, and his doctrine Philosophia Academica.. The philosophy of the Acadamy,  instaret academia, quae quidquid dixisses,

You don't MAKE MUSIC when the professor is teaching silly people! This was OPPOSITE the Acadamy of the Cynics.

The sound to assemble the later congregations to their sub-tribal leaders was:

Simplex I. In gen., simple, plain, uncompounded, unmixed

That is opposite of the sounds used for SIGNALS ONLY: when Moses came down to the musical idolatry he recognized THREE legal signals: the sould of WAR, the sound of DEFEAT (retreat) or as he said IT IS SINGING THAT I HEAR.  Historic scholars and the definition of words identify their WORSHIP as musical idolatry and therefore the PROFANED the SABBATH (means REST, not seventh).

The sounds of musical IDOLATRY is the word included in the Latin text:

Tuba Apart from military purposes, it was used on various occasions, as at religious festivals, games, funerals,

    b. Sonorous, elevated epic poetry,
    c. A lofty style of speaking,
II. Trop.: tuba belli civilis, i. e. exciter , author, instigato

Not even "it is the sound of singing that I hear" says Moses was heard before the year 373 and like all ADDITIONS of music started and starts a CIVIL WAR: music was what split the Eastern from the Western Church and the Catholics confess that like many other things "they added music because it was common to all pagan cults."

Cicero F 6. The passport has not been issued at once,
owing to the amazing rascality of certain persons,
who would have been bitterly annoyed at a pardon being granted to you,
whom that party call the "bugle of the civil war"--
and a good many observations to the same effect are made by them,
as though they were not positively glad of that war having occurred.

With most Bible based groups, people have set out to intentionally start a CIVIL WAR by saying that the curse of the instruments used to wordhip the starry host was the SPIRIT telling them to impose "instrumental praise." This knowing that they would be the trumpet of civil war to do a hostile takeover of happy churches of Christ.

Fittingly, they have used the SABBATH which was the day of STAR and SUN worship in Jerusalem, Greece and Rome as the SET-TIME-PLACE to introduce the instruments. Remembering that the STAR WORSHIPERS could PROFANE the Sabbath with music because God had ABANDONED them to that.  The SOUNDS never called music was the MARK for those not of the cursed sector to GET OUT and never look back at their stolen church houses and broken friendships and families.

Plato Republic

[411a] "Certainly." "And that of the ill adjusted is cowardiy and rude?" "It surely is."
"Now when a man abandons himself to music to play 1 upon him and pour 2 into his soul as it were through the funnel of his ears those sweet, soft, and dirge-like airs of which we were just now3 speaking, and gives his entire time to the warblings and blandishments of song, the first result is that the principle of high spirit, if he had it,

But when he continues the practice without remission and is spellbound, the effect begins to be that he melts and liquefies till he completely dissolves away his spirit, cuts out as it were the very sinews of his soul and makes of himself a 'feeble  warrior.' ” “Assuredly,” he said. “And if,” said I, “he has to begin with a spiritless nature he reaches this result quickly, but if high-spirited, by weakening the spirit he makes it unstable,

It was the MILLERITES who led the Disciples astray for the 1843 return and it is the SDA or Jews who have led all of those IMPOSING the sounds of CIVIL WAR always given a flight test on the SABBATH. The SABBATH is also the mark of Apollo, Abaddon or Apollyon in Revelation.  The Babylon mother of harlots predictably uses the "lusted after fruits" and entertaining speakers, singers and instrument players.

Both the seventh day (not SABBATH) as well as the TITHE was part of the eternal Babylonianism the Israelites practiced in Egypt, at Mount Sinai when they profaned the SABBATH or REST day with music, and the end time in Revelation 17-18.

Using the postmodern term they give themselves permission to LIE about the Bible because as they say "we gonna save more soul" meaning more that those who bought and paid for the building they steal.

No one has argued that He did.  But, He does expect you to worship Him on the Sabbath, while you rest from your physical labors.  The Sabbath in miniature shows that you are resting in Him and that you recognize that only your Creator can save you and sanctify you.

Actually, strike one, it was Jesus who told His disciples to pray that their flight would not be on the Sabbath (which is rather odd if the Sabbath was abolished at His death and the flight took place approximately 35 years later).

Matthew 24:20  But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the sabbath day:

SDA's are only quilty of pointing it out to people.  The Millerirtes knew nothing about the Sabbath--strike two.
