What country do you think will score the most medals this Olympics?  Who do you think will finish second and likewise third?

I am afraid that Canada will not fare too well this time around.  Money is being offered for the first time to the athletes for medals won.  I'm not sure if I like that or not.  I've always regarded it as a form of bribery.

Perhaps I could pose two questions:

The medal count:  first, second, third?
Do you agree with the awarding of monetary rewards to medal winners?

CANADA...GOING FOR OLYMPIC GOLD!

I hope that USA will get the most but Chinese are very disciplined nation and very motivated by pride since they are the host of the Olympics this year. Canada and Russia will be among the candidates for the most amount of medals as well in my opinion; although, their competitive edge dwells predominantly in winter sports. We'll see.
I don't agree with monetary prizes won during Olympic games. It makes them too commercial. This event besides uniting all the nations should serve other higher purpose.  Maybe to help the victims of the earthquake in this case. I don't have a problem with athletes making money during other competitions, however. They deserve it.

I feel the same as you.  On all counts.  The other thing is with money being offered to the medal winners those athletes who normally would be striving for athletic excellence in their respected sporting events for country and personal pride might very well be competing for their back pocket.  Oh, I'm sure pride of self and country are still in the mix there but...well, you know what I mean.

Gee, I don't know about you but I nearly ran out of breath saying this!

My daughter has a red T-shirt, with a white maple leaf on the front.  Under the leaf it says eh?. :)
She got it signed on the back by members of a Canadian band she likes.

Go Canada!  (and USA)

 Cheerleader

Canada is doing more poorly than I anticipated.  We're better at winter sports.
I am watching the medal count closely.  I am pulling for the US in their battle for medals with China.
After all, what are neighbours for? Smile

Well, I just watched the softball game for the gold and the US went down for the count.  That Japanese pitcher, Ueno, is simply amazing.  It's a shame the sport is being shelved for a while at the olympics given what other sports are being kept or added.

It would be cool if they added battle royals to the wrestling, though.

Suffering for your beliefs is called faithfulness, making others suffer for your beliefs is called being a jerk.

His cross, like the ark in the wilderness, is the center around which his people are to encamp; so that they cannot separate into factions, or withdraw from each other, without retiring at the same time from the presence of the cross.
