Sports activies undermines Christian principles...IF... a person knows what Christian principles are in the first place.

Sports, activies glorifies self......something that God does NOT agree with.

Like weightlifting.
I lift weights to strenthen a bad back.

If I don't lift, I hurt.

As long as the muscles are strong, I'm free of pain.

It's a sport.

It's a sport.
Not for me, I lift to correct a back problem.

Competition is not Christian and I don't get involved with it.

You can play golf without competition.   Besides, I don't see a scripture for "competition is not Christian" anyways.

So you're competing against your pain?

Competition is not Christian? Really? What passage is that? You are speaking where the Bible does not. Competition, like many things, can be abused by people. But if my dad and I go play golf together, I want to win. One of the things that's fun about it is that even though he's 21 years older than me, he can still compete with me in golf. While we're playing we have nothing but love for each other and when it's over sometimes the "loser" will buy the "winner" a Sprite or something and we joke with each other about it.

If you're calling that a sin, you are truly speaking where the Bible hasn't and being just plain silly.

I don't think God has a problem with ppl playing sports nor spectating them. He put us here to have abundant life...well sports are a good form of clean entertainment (I know, sometimnes it gets out of hand). Some ppl will say EVERYTHING is a sin. I just have a hard time believing that a loving God like ours would put us here and expect us to do nothing but sit around and twiddle our thumbs all our lives. I mean what would be the point of that?

It's evident you're a better man than me; I continually have to challenge myself to do better thus making it the ultimate competition.

"Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with your might."

So if I happen to be gifted to golf, or play baseball, or football, and I'm offered the chance to be paid for doing that by someone who owns a team and earns his income by people coming to watch his team play...I should do it with my might.

I read about sins in the Bible, but never the sin or competition or playing a game. Jewish children grew up playing all kinds of games and Jesus would have had to have another Sermon on the Mount to tell why sports and games were sinful.

Read Proverbs. It gives all kinds of strategies for competition and winning.

3AM, you'll need to get rid of that bird since it's of the earth. Or maybe you should kill it to demonstrate that you don't love it. And I'm concerned about you with that weight lifting. If you weren't so in love with life you wouldn't care that your physical body hurts because all that matters are spiritual things. Repent before it's too late!  I'm surrounded by idiots

My wife and I play golf together and she insists on NOT keeping score. It's a good thing too because she would probably beat me.

Seriously though the assertion that sports competition is unbiblical or even sinful is absurd to the max..................wel l almost to the max. Declaring something absurd to the max would be unfair to the plethora of absurd assertions on here everyday, which would imply a competition, which would be sinful, which would be absurd.......

By that I mean, Christian principes are to deny yourself, to let someone else have the better deal.
In other words, place someone else's welfare, ahead of your own.

To be a Christian...is to let the other person, win...ahead of you !

"Letting" someone else win (except for small children sometimes) is the worst thing you can do. It is a sin against them as you are not encouraging them to do their best and you are teaching them to be lazy sluggards.

We are to spur each other on to good works. That is, compete with each other (and ourselves)  to be best at everything we do.

God's principles versus satanic principles.....is the issue.

Lets see. What does sports teach us? Do your best. work well with others. Respect others whether you win or lose. Have fun at whatever you are doing. Follow the rules.

Looks like all Godly principles to me.

Please list (in detail) what satanic principles you see in sports.
