Sell all your posessions and give them to the less fortunate!

If you live on 160 acres you are a rich man.. and the rich will not enter heaven.

Apparently you haven't read the scriptures.

As far as sports.. the bible uses sports a couple of times for analogies... they cannot be as bad as you say they are.

Isn't 3AM a SDA guy?  A good while back when I was playing in the volleyball leagues there was a tough team of SDA guys from the school where my mom's nursing home is.

My hobbies are: Weightlifting.....Rare Tropical Fish....Nature walks........studying (Research) Nutrition, Alternate energy, etc......Gardening.

I live on a 160 Ranch, which requires a lot of outdoor work.

How many people realize that worldly hobbies can cripple a person's plans, to get into heaven ?

A person must make the decision.....one way, or the other.

#1.)  Living a Christian lifestyle.

#2.) Or, Hobbies.

I can see that I should have gotten into much more detail....about this topic.

Think about this....
Christian principles, interferes with most sports.
OR...sports, interferes Christian principles.

By that I mean, Christian principes are to deny yourself, to let someone else have the better deal.
In other words, place someone else's welfare, ahead of your own.

But, because few bother to study the Life of Jesus Christ, and what HE said....few so-called Christians, understand what it is to be a Christian.

To be a Christian...is to let the other person, win...ahead of you !

Read the BIble...its right there !

WHY do you think God said:
2:15   Love not the world, neither the things [that are] in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.

2:16   For all that [is] in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.

2:17   And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.

The will of God ?

12:13  Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this [is] the whole [duty] of man.

There is no sport on earth that does not result in breaking God's Commandments...NOT ONE !

12:14   For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether [it be] good, or whether [it be] evil.
Logged

1 Peter  4:17   For the time [is come] that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if [it] first [begin] at us, what shall the end [be] of them that obey not the gospel of God ?

Seems to me one team wins or loses during games. Pretty sure that means your scenario is happening consecutively. Except for those sinner hockey & soccer players...those demons can end in a tie.

God didn't say that, now did HE ?

HE said: 10:31   Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.

Eat foods as God made them...you bring glory to HIM.....by showing you are willing to live as HE wants a person to live...in good health.

The whole principle of overcoming another person, to show your superior strenght, and skill is not a Christian principle, in the least.

I agree, but neither is domesticating animals or racing someone back home to dinner. The point isn't winning...the point is the race...just like our Christian race.

Some days you win, some days you lose, I wouldn't stop playing softball simply because my team had a losing season. Nor would I stop if we won, technically meaning there was nothing else to achieve.

Maybe we shouldn't interview for jobs on the off chance that we actually win the position, causing dozens of others to lose it?

You see how the reasoning isn't logical? Your opinion is totally fine, I know a few people who don't like sports...but that doesn't mean us jocks are heathens =)

This is stupid. Anyone who thinks sports will send you to hell has to condemn everything. In the context of the 1 John verse what is in view is the world system of sin and not a ball of dirt. God gave us things in the world to enjoy. Take for example marriage. God didn't say "O.K. Adam and Eve. Here is sex. It's fun and enjoyable but if you enjoy it you can't do it or you'll go to hell." Or "Here is all the fruit in the garden but I'll send you to hell for eating because it tastes good." We are to enjoy the things of the dirt ball but not of the world system.

I love sports, pretty much all of them. I enjoy watching them, listening to them and playing them. I believe that the Lord gave me a passion for sports and exercise. When I initially became a Christian I was led to believe that True Christias did not care for sports. I was a member of a very small family church (about 15 members) and noe of them particularly liked sports. This made me feel like I had to ignore a real part of me and I also ofelt like a poor christian. Since then I have attended a number of churches and have see that many Christians enjoy Sports and are enthusiastic about it. 3AM is a stumbling block to many and I believe that with his kind of thinking he will halt the progression of many a Christian.

It is possible for a Christian to enjoy sports as simple entertainment and still live the Christian lifestyle; however, most rabid sports fans treat their sport as an idol or a god, and that could indeed keep one out of heaven.
