Man, that was a quick post.  Unless, of course, you  posted it the first time the Rams lost the game. . .  .

Exhausting game.  I am a Rams fan since '75, and my heart has stopped seven times in the past hour.  The Rams seemed on their way to pulling out a great comeback in regulation, with Marshall Faulk leading with his heart, and then Martz funked out like Hooker at Chancellorsville.  I wouldn't be surprised to see George Meade coaching the team next year (well, okay, I would since Meade's been dead for more than a century).  Top-shelf players executing the attack perfectly, and he pulls up and settles for the tying field goal.

Carolina kept doing everything in their power to give the game away, but the Rams would not take advantage.  In the end, physical and mental exhaustion ruled, and One Big Play did them in.

Actually, marc, I posted it right after the winning touchdown. As far as Carolina trying to give the game away... Agreed.

Guess the Packers couldn't do it.

And if I were an Eagles fan, I would be happy that they at least took a couple of shots at the end zone before kicking the tying field goal in regulation instead of simply running the clock down.

My new prediction:  Colts 30, Eagles 17 (although getting past the Patriots will be tough).

Seems the Panthers have deep spiritual problems with putting a game away before the last minute.

I'm pulling for the colts, but they've got big problems to overcome.  A dome team, playing in sub-zero weather, against the game's premier defensive mind. . . .

This one could be interesting.

I'm also finding myself surprisingly interested in the Eagles.  I liked Donovan (not to certain ESPN announcers:  his name is not Dunovan) McNabb at Syracuse, and have always thought he was capable of leading a team to a Super Bowl win.  This could be the year.

. . . . in the above message, "not to certain espn announcers" should read "note to certain espn announcers". .    :lookaround:

Now that the field has narrowed to four, I would like to see New England win again. In fact, considering who is left, I think that they are the favorites.

It's up to 31 degrees in New England, although it's still snowing, so the weather advantage won't be quite as bad as I expected.

New England won.  Manning didn't have a good day.  It may prove true that defense wins championships, and Dungy will have a lot of work to do on his defense.

New England, at least, is an interesting defensive-minded team, as opposed to the deadly boring Baltimore Ravens of three years back.

Now if Philly can come back against Carolina, we'll at least have a watchable Super Bowl.

I don't know about Philadelphia.  I think they are over-rated.  I think Carolina could even surprise New England.

It looks like Superbowl 38 is set.

New England vs. Carolina

Yeah.  I have mixed feelings.  Carolina doesn't strike me as a particularly sharp team.  Defense does the job, but I can think of about twenty teams I'd rather watch play.

New England, though, I like. And I think it would be enjoyable to see Tom Brady get a second ring to answer all of those who complained and called him a flash in the pan when New England traded Drew Bledsoe.
