It's coming soon, and as of yesterday, it's Cowell's last season.   ::band::

Don't believe I will be watching it.  I get my singing fix from Dora and other NickJr shows.  My youngest is now one and can say Mommy, Daddy, No, and Dora.

This is one of my favorite shows, however, does anyone else notice something strange this year?

They hardly show the auditions! ::frown::  They aired 4 singers in the first half hour.  They show clips but hardly ever show a full audition.  They seem to be focusing more on the antics of the judges.  Maybe because Simon is leaving, they wanted to highlight him?  Not happy.

The best episode ever was the guy that sang the song, "Pants on the Ground". Possibly the most socially redeemable song in all of American Idol history.

Pants on the ground was hysterical...and Simon was right - it has taken on a life of it's own!

Looks as if General Larry Platt might have lifted the song.  I still like it and think it's better than the original one.

Now the Green Brothers of Highland Park, Michigan, are trying to take credit. The brothers wrote to MyFox Detroit that the similarities between Platt's song and their 1996 recording "Back Pockets on the Floor" are more than coincidence, and they want the world to see their version.

The two songs have one small message element that is similar - and that's it.  No way Platt "lifted" the song.  The Green's message is saying no to drugs, gangs, and babies out of wedlock.  Try to find that in Platt's song.

Thanks OldDad, I didn't know that.  I never listened to the first version in full; I only heard the parts played on the news.  Just goes to show ya, right?

This season seems strange to me.  Not as entertaining as the past seasons so far, but maybe things are just warming up.

As far as Idol without Simon I can't imagine it being worth watching.  Simon makes the show.

That guy is going to be immortalized on the internet, right up there with the Numa Numa fat kid, I Can Has Cheezburger, the boy who had a tooth pulled and got videotaped on anesthetic, and Kanye's interruption of Swift's speech at the music video awards. Cheers to him!!

OK, so the guys are absolutely not nearly as deep talent-wise as the girls, there were a lot of lows and a couple of highs tonight.  My ranking from best to worst:

Casey James – “Heaven

I like about 3 on both sides.  3 guys and 3 girls.   The girls are stronger I think this year.  Overall the show is not it's best for sure and the 4 judges do not mesh very well together.  It's weird this season.

I didn't have a problem with any of them going home. Not any big talents this year, it seems. Time could prove me wrong, though, it has before.

Also, I actually like the addition of Ellen.

Yea, Rob, this group doesn't seem as interesting to watch.

I do have to say that I only watched the guys show to see 'Big Mike' - and while I enjoyed his performance, I probably only like him because of the 'baby-story' that surrounded him during Hollywood Week - I want to see him succeed....

But none of them really seem to have a 'personality' just yet.

No eval from me tonight - our DVR went squirrelly and we only got to see half the singers.

This is the first season I have given up on. The contestants are not as good as they have been in the past at this point in the show. The judging is so inconsisitant....."Change the song, make it your own" to "You changed the song too much, I can't recognize it" It's rediculous! it's no wonder the singers aren't getting better, the adivce they are being given is confusing! Ellen also all the sudden has gone from just being a fan of music and not knowing much about it, to telling them when they are flat, or off pitch.  ::headscratch:: I dunno, this season just isn't working for me dog. LOL
