I have been a fan of Netflix' STRANGER THINGS series until season 3 came out.   

I like the kid actors and I give the story line an 8 out of 10 for originality of season 1.   Season 2 was a remake and predictable according to the scenario established in season 1.  Season 3 was terrible.

I admit to watching all eight episodes of season 3 because by the time the bad stuff happened it was already episode six or so.  I wanted to see how it came out, but the effort wasn't really worth it.

Why is season 3 so bad?   

Season 3 depicts children being tortured and being assaulted physically in ways that would kill or cripple a child under normal real circumstances.   Granted that the kids that were being mistreated were of High School age, but they were being tortured and severly beaten nonetheless.

If you have enjoyed season 1 and 2, then I recommend you rewatch those episodes.   Don't get sucked into watching season 3 as I did.  It's predictable and violent and at the end of the season all the kids separate to different towns.   There will be a season 4, but with new characters and actors all around I bet.

Not for me.

If not on the puter for GC or Spider Solitaire I watch the oldie but goodies of Magnum and Columbo type shows... or Jesse Stone movie series..... (which is about as strange as I want to get  ::tippinghat::) (Might be an age thing)

Alternating with Hallmakrs Christmas movies or mysteries. ( some of which are actually quite good int the Columbo, Murder She wrote vein.)

Things like Stranger Things leave my mind wandering too much when in bed trying to sleep.

Choir Loft, thank you for that heads up on Stranger Things.

A couple of years ago, my grandson (about 18 at the time) asked me to watch Stranger Things with him. He hardly ever asked me to watch something with him, so I agreed. He kept telling me how much he enjoyed the show and thought I'd like it. I really got into it and did enjoy it. It was suspenseful without gore or outright violence. So I don't know what happened, but we only got about halfway through season 2 and stopped watching it. Just the other day, I remembered Stranger Things and thought about going back to pick up the episodes I missed. I won't be doing that now. The reason I liked Stranger Things was because of the suspense without the violence. I'm just not into the violence you've described.

Season 1 was just fine; pretty original, good writing and directing, good acting.

Season 2 was basically a repeat of season 1, so not as satisfied.

Season 3 stunk. Poor writing and so complete a lack of originality.

Season 4 is not on my watch list.

Okay, you hate action movies.   

The reason to hate Season 3 is the introduction of the lesbian character.  Why didn't you mention that?  The makers of Stranger Things intended for her to be a girlfriend of one of the young men. But, the queer lobby demanded they add a queer character to the show.  The squeaky wheel gets the grease and most Christians only complain about the action in an action show.  I suggest you don't read the Bible.  It's full of action, even violence toward children.

Another reason to hate season three is because it's full of 2020 values placed in the 1980s.   America was very Christian in those days, but no clue of it in Stranger Things.   It's incredible how much America has slid in just a few decades.  Stranger Things rewrites history. 

This should delight you: The next season probably won't have its one smoking character smoke.
